HAPPY GOONIES DAY!

June 7th is celebrated annually as Goonies Day, as today was the date of theatrical release for the classic adventure comedy back in 1985.

When the film was released, a number of WWF stars appearing in Cyndi Lauper's music video for the song The Goonies R Good Enough, including Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Fred Blassie, Lou Albano, The Iron Sheik, The Fabulous Moolah and Nikolai Vokoff.  In the same time period, Lauper was regularly appearing on WWF programming, feuding with Moolah as she managed Wendi Richter.

In honor of Goonies Day, here's the official two-part, 12 minute music video, which appeared on WWF's Saturday Night's Main Event in that era and was directed by Goonies director Richard Donner.  Lauper still plays the song in concerts, often paying tribute to the WWE Hall of Famers who appear in the video, which is played behind her as she performs.
