EW Dynamite is live from Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Tony Schiavone.
We start with a pre-tape of the Young Bucks and Chris Jericho by the ocean, and they discuss their history. Jericho says he is honored to work with the best team in wrestling history. They then discuss their upcoming match tonight and go over their possible Trios name.
The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and Chris Jericho vs. Mark Davis, Andrade El Idolo, and Ricochet
Don Callis joins commentary.
Jericho and Ricochet start the match, but Ricochet tags out to Andrade and goes to the floor. They lock up and quickly run the ropes, where Jericho gets a shoulder tackle. Jericho gets a big chop and works Andrade to the corner with chops. Andrade slides out of the ring and gets pictures with two women at ringside. When he’s done, Jericho chops him down on the floor. They return to the ring and Jericho tags in Nick, so they triple-team Andrade.
After they hit Risky Business, Nick is pulled to Andrade’s corner where Davis is tagged in, and Nick starts to fight all three of them. He tags in Matt and we get him taking out all three of the opponents and then three Northern Lights suplexes on Andrade. Matt then hits Ricochet and Andrade with a Northern Lights suplex, and it’s time for dives as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Nick is fighting off Ricochet and Davis and tags in Jericho. Ricochet gets out of the ring and Andrade is tagged in, and Jericho works over both of them. Andrade is left to fight with Jericho as the Bucks fight with Ricochet and Davis. The Bucks and Jericho get ten in the corner and then they all get top-rope hurricanranas. Jericho hits a Codebreaker on Andrade for two, broken up by Ricochet.
Nick tags in and Matt gets into the ring and it's time for Young Buckery. Andrade gets the Three Amigos on Matt. He then suplexes Nick onto Matt. Nick gets a Destroyer on Andrade and then the Bucks get the BTE Trigger on Andrade for two, broken up by Ricochet. Jericho clotheslines Ricochet out of the ring and hits a baseball slide into him. Jericho and Ricochet fight on the floor around the timekeeper’s table.
Jericho gets a back suplex on Ricochet through the timekeeper’s table. The Bucks, Andrade, and Davis fight and Andrade accidentally takes out Davis. The Bucks get a BTE Trigger on Andrade for two. As Davis tries to bring in a chair, the ref keeps him from bringing it in. David Finlay and Clark Connors sneak into the ring and attack Matt Jackson so that Andrade can get the pin and the win.
Winners: Mark Davis, Andrade El Idolo, and Ricochet
Jack Perry hits the ring with a bag of onions and GOA hits the ring. The Hurt Syndicate runs to the ring as well and we’ve got a Pier 6 brawl between everyone in the Stadium Stampede match Sunday night. OK, Kenny Omega doesn’t seem to be here. We leave after Bobby Lashley gets a spear on Toa Leona.
We then go to a hype video for the Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita match.
Renee Paquette is with Darby Allin, and he says he keeps doing these matches because he feels everything. He says he has no choice and it is the greatest feeling in the world. On Sunday, he has put up his title vs. MJF’s hair. MJF is the most vain man in the world, and his hair being gone will eat him alive. He then tells Speedball Mike Bailey he will do anything it takes to keep the title and he wants Bailey to do the same.
We then get a hype video for Darby vs. MJF.
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Mark Briscoe - Anything Goes Match
Ciampa goes at Mark with a kendo stick, but misses and they throw hands. Mark grabs a garbage can and Ciampa drop-kicks his knees. Ciampa goes under the ring and pulls out plunder. He screams when digging in a garbage can and pulls out his hand, showing it was snapped in a rat trap. Mark breaks a mop over Ciampa’s back. Mark then pulls out a table and sets it up as people chant for it.
Mark puts Ciampa in a chair and then comes off the apron into him. Mark tosses a chair into the ring and then chokes Ciampa with a chain. He lays Ciampa on the table and goes to the top. Ciampa is up and meets him there and puts the chain around Mark’s neck and pulls him down through the table. Mark is rolled into the ring and Ciampa tosses the garbage can into the ring and grabs a cheese grater. He uses it on Mark’s forehead as we go to picture in picture.
Let’s hope they don’t have a Kraft Singles ad.
When we return to full screen, Ciampa pulls out a stuffed toy chicken, but Mark blasts him with a fire extinguisher. Mark hits an exploder suplex on Ciampa, which sends him to the floor. Mark sets up another table. Mark nails Ciampa with a cookie sheet and then uses a staple gun to attach barbed wire to the table. Ciampa tosses a garbage can at Mark to stop him and he takes over attaching the barbed wire to the table.
Ciampa then staples fliers to Mark’s head. They return to the ring and Ciampa puts on a knee pad covered in tacks. He charges at Mark, who gets a drop toe hold and goes at Ciampa’s head with a screwdriver. Ciampa suplexes Mark into a ladder set up in the corner for two. They throw hands in the middle of the ring, and Ciampa hits a running knee with the tack-covered knee pad.
Ciampa sets up chairs and puts Mark on top. Briscoe fights out of the Psycho Driller and hits an Iconoclasm on the chairs. Mark then gets a Jay Driller from the apron through the barbed wire table. Mark hits Froggy Bow for the pin and the win.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
There’s your sick bloody brawl for the night.
Tony Schiavone starts to talk about the Owen Hart Tournament, and he is interrupted by Prince Nana, who mocks him for being old. Nana then introduces Swerve Strickland.
Bandido attacks Swerve on the way to the ring and they brawl to the ring. Bandido is in control until he stops Nana from attacking with a chair, and Swerve takes over from there. Bandido is able to recover and gets the one-handed gorilla slam. Swerve throws a chair at Bandido and bails from the ring.
In the back, Willow Nightingale says winning the TBS Title was one of the greatest moments in her career. She goes over her past championships, but winning the title back from Mercedes Mone was important. She then says she injured her right shoulder in her last match with Red Velvet. She wants to go on, but she has not been cleared for action and has to withdraw from the Owen Hart Tournament and relinquish the TBS Championship.
Jon Moxley (AEW Continental Champion) vs. Kyle O’Reilly - Eliminator Match
They go for waistlocks and then move to arm bars. Mox gets a side headlock takeover and Kyle rolls to the side to get a one count on Mox. Mox does the same to Kyle. They break and the match resets.
They lock up and go back to arm bars. Mox forces Kyle down to the mat and Kyle is able to trip Mox and mount Mox to hit palm strikes. Mox is able to escape. They grapple and go to the ropes, and Mox pokes the eye to get the break. Mox lays in chops in the corner. Kyle reverses and gets a chop before Mox reverses and chops Kyle to the mat. Mox grabs the arm and snaps the fingers. They throw strikes and Kyle starts using kicks and sweeps Mox’s legs.
Kyle lays in kicks in the corner. Kyle kicks Mox’s leg out from under him and covers for two. They throw strikes and kicks back and forth. Mox gets a body shot and Kyle drops to the mat in pain. After the ref checks Kyle, Mox gets a series of body shots and Kyle dumps Mox over the top. Kyle goes to dive, but his midsection is too injured to hit the ropes. Mox drops Kyle as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Mox has Kyle in a rear leg scissor and Kyle goes for the eyes for the break. Kyle lays in more kicks on Mox’s injured leg while holding his own midsection. Both men go down. They charge at each other in the corners. Mox grabs a rear chinlock and Kyle grabs the arm and snaps it over his shoulder, followed with knee strikes and a judo throw. Kyle gets a leaping knee to Mox’s head.
Kyle grabs an ankle lock and Mox holds the rope to break the hold. Kyle kicks Mox to the floor and they kick each other on the floor and then clothesline each other down on the floor. They get into the ring at eight, and Kyle stomps on Mox’s leg. Kyle goes to the top and Mox joins him there. Mox bites Kyle’s head and scrapes his back. Mox gets a superplex.
Five minutes remaining.
Both men are down and struggle to recover. Mox grabs a bulldog and Kyle rolls back for two and then gets the juji-gatame into an ankle lock. Mox turns it into a bulldog choke. Mox gets a gator roll and locks on the bulldog again and Kyle gets to the ropes for the break. They fight to the apron and Kyle snaps Mox’s arm as he drops to the floor. Kyle gets a running drop-kick into Mox on the floor.
They return to the ring and Mox gets a cutter for two. They grapple on the mat and Mox works to his feet and Kyle gets a suplex on Mox. Kyle grabs the ankle and as Mox is trying to kick his way free, Kyle hits a PK. Both men struggle to get up. Mox is up at five and Kyle is as well and they throw hands.
One minute remaining.
Mox hits a body shot and drops Kyle. Kyle grabs an ankle lock and then grapevines the leg. Mox can’t break free and the bell rings.
The match goes the distance, Kyle O’Reilly gets a title shot.
Kyle says that Mox barely survived and when he gets his rematch it will be no time limit and he will tap Mox out.
In the back, Renee is with Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander. As Kris is talking about Willow, Shida says they will win the women’s championship title match this weekend. Kris grabs Shida and tells her to just watch herself.
In the back, Rush says that he wants a shot at the AEW World Title next week. He then reminds us that when you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
Athena, Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue vs. Thunder Rosa, Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter, and Alex Windsor
Rosa and Athena start the match by locking up and then move to arm bars. They run the ropes and Rosa gets a rollup for two. Rosa gets a springboard crossbody for two. Alex tags in and Athena tags in Blue and they throw hands. They run the ropes and Hayter tags in and gives Blue a big boot. Mina and Thekla tag in and Mina gets a drop toe hold followed by a drop-kick to the back.
They fight in the corner and then through the ropes and Mina gets an over-the-top-rope tornado for two as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Mina has been the babyface in peril through the break. Mina is able to get a spinning tijeras on Athena to get free to crawl to the corner. Blue is tagged in as Rosa is tagged in, and Rosa works over Blue. Rosa gets a Northern Lights suplex into a bridge for two, broken up by Thekla. It becomes time for each woman to take out the last one in the ring until everyone is down.
Athena is up first and charges into a kick from Mina. Mina leaps on Athena, who catches her on the floor. Mina is able to reverse it into a DDT. Thekla tags herself in and Blue is working over Rosa. Hayter and Alex drag Blue to the floor to work her over. In the ring, Julia hits Rosa with the black mist and Thekla gets the pin and the win.
Winners: Athena, Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue
In the back, Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey are prepping for Bailey’s match with Darby Allin. Knight says he would love to challenge Bailey when he wins the World Title.
In the back, Renee is with the Death Riders, who are doing pushups. Mox thanks Kyle for pushing him to be better because he can’t find a way to beat Kyle. Kyle has done something extraordinary. They will be facing each other Sunday and he asks Kyle what his odds are, and this time, Mox will win when everything is on the line.
Darby Allin (AEW World Champion) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey
Before they can lock up, MJF’s music hits and he joins the commentary team.
Bailey gets a drop-kick and then goes for the Ultimo Weapon, but Darby rolls to the apron. Bailey gets a series of kicks and Darby drops to the floor where Bailey hits a triangle moonsault. Bailey gets a series of blows on the floor and then a leaping knee drop. Bailey slams Darby on the floor and then comes off the steel steps with a knee drop. Bailey drops him on the barricade and climbs on top. Darby sweeps the legs and then hits a Scorpion Death Drop on top of the barricade as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Darby and Bailey go back and forth on the floor. Darby drops the steel steps on Bailey’s foot and then Darby dives onto Bailey. They return to the ring and Darby goes for a Coffin Drop, and Bailey gets the knees up. Bailey gets a kick and misses Ultimo Weapon from the top. Darby goes to the top for a Coffin Drop for two and MJF puts Bailey’s foot on the bottom rope. The ref saw it and Kevin Knight comes out to run MJF back to commentary.
Bailey gets a side headlock takeover for two. Bailey gets a straightjacket rollup for two. Bailey gets a big kick on Darby. Bailey gets a spin kick for two. Bailey gets another big kick and gets a thrust kick. Bailey puts Darby on the top, but Darby escapes and they trade two-count rollups and Darby gets a Scorpion Death Drop. Darby gets a series of stomps and puts Bailey in the Scorpion Death Lock. Bailey gets to the ropes for the break, but Darby quickly goes to the top for a Coffin Drop and gets the Scorpion Death Lock again and Bailey has to tap out.
