By Mike Johnson on 2026-05-16 23:40:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of Netflix's broadcast of Gina Carano vs. former WWE star and UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey, live from Los Angeles' Intuit Dome.

Before the fight, CM Punk was interviewed sitting at ringside.  Punk was asked how he saw the fight playing out.  He said he would amiss not to go with Ronda Rousey.  He predicted she would clench, throw fists and grab an armbar.  He sent a hello to his wife April and said he'd be home in about 20 minutes.

Fight time.

Carano entered the hexagon cage first.

Rousey entered second.

The legendary Big John McCarthy was the referee.

ROUND ONE:

They faced off.  Rousey took Carano down to the mat but was grabbed for a potential guillotine.  Rousey slipped out, nailed several rights on the mat, then and cinched in an armbar.  Carano tapped immediately.

Rousey wins in 17 seconds via submission.

Carano and Rousey embraced.  Carano was crying.  Rousey began crying as well.

After Rousey was officially announced as the winner, the fighter embraced again.

After the fight, Rousey said Carano brought her to MMA and was the only person who could bring her back.  She said Carano was her hero and changed her world and together, they changed the world.  She said she could never thank her enough.  Rousey thanked MVP Promotions and Netflix.  She thanked everyone for caring about the fighters and for caring about the fight because they allow them to have value.  She said she didn't want the fight to go long because she didn't want to hurt Carano.   She didn't want the fight to go longer because her kids and husband were watching.  She reiterated Carano was her hero.  When asked if there would be more MMA from her, Rousey said there was no way to end her career better than this.  She wants to have a few more babies and said, "It's time to get cooking."

Carano said she wanted the fight to go longer and wanted to hit Rousey.  It was her first fight in 17 years.  Getting in the cage and fighting a legend was a victory but she may feel like she didn't get to do everything she wanted later.  She has so much respect for Rousey.  She took 100 lbs. off and fell back in love with MMA, but the fight just didn't go her way.  She was non-commital about whether she would fight again.  She learned that she could get up every day and train with dedication.  She thanked her team.
