Lucha Mexicana 52 (LM52), the new promotion in Mexico that was announced earlier this year will premiere this Sunday 5/19 at 9 PM Eastern on Discovery in Espanol.
The promotion was launched by Eric Baeza, who was the former head of sales for AAA. When TKO took over AAA and Baeza exited the company, he used his contacts to help found LM52, scoring AAA's former TV deal with SPACE in Mexico, a Warner Bros Discovery channel. That deal has now brought the series to Discovery en Espanol here in The United States. The channel is available on many Spanish-language tier cable platforms.
The initial plan was to build the promotion around former WWE Champion Alberto el Patron, but given his recent legal issues, that remains to be seen. Other names that were initially involved were Dr. Wagner Jr., Chessman, The Mexa Boys, Diosa Quetzal, Sagitarius, Texano Jr., Super Nova, Rey Mictlan and Hell Boy. The promotion ran an event on 5/7, headlined by Cibernetico & Pirata Morgan vs. El Texano Jr. & Rey Wagner.
