The NWA has a live event on Sunday 6/7 in Grovetown, GA at the Columbia County Exhibition Center with NWA Champion Silas Mason, NWA National Champion Mike Mondo, NWA Women's Champion Natalia Markova, Kylie Paige and more.
Speaking of NWA National Champion Mike Mondo, he appeared on The Alliance Blog Podcast with host Jay Cal to discuss the current landscape of the NWA, including the ongoing 2026 Crockett Cup and the recent move of NWA Powerrr to Comet TV.
During the conversation, Mondo made it clear he sees himself as the measuring stick in the division rather than any one specific challenger.
“I feel like I’m the challenge here. Who’s going to step up to me?” Mondo said.
Calling himself “The Human Gutcheck Machine,” Mondo emphasized the aggressive mindset he brings into every title defense and credited NWA President Billy Corgan for giving him the opportunity to carry the championship.
“I’ve got that killer mentality. I’m going to do whatever it takes [to defend],” Mondo stated. “Billy Corgan gave me an opportunity, and I told him the other day, I want the ball. I’m going to run with it, and I’m going to make a touchdown.”
While Mondo doesn’t fear anyone on the roster, he did mention several names that could potentially challenge him, including Alex Misery, Bryan Idol, and even reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Silas Mason.
Mondo also teased ambitions beyond the National Heavyweight Championship, joking about holding both titles simultaneously.
“I’ve got 9.5 pounds of gold on this shoulder, and I wouldn’t mind adding ‘Ten Pounds of Gold’ on the other shoulder. Do the math: That’s 19.5 pounds of gold for Mike Mondo!”
