Daniel Rodimer, who competed in the 2004 WWE Tough Enough reality competition and worked for the company as a developmental talent from 2006 through 2007, filed a motion to have his murder charges dismissed, according to FOX 5 in Las Vegas. Rodimer had previously plead not guilty when he was arraigned.
Rodimer was arrested in relation to the death of 47-year-old Christopher Tapp after an incident at a hotel on the Las Vegas strip. Tapp later passed away at a hospital. While Tapp's death was initially believed to have been an accident, KMVT TV later reported that Tapp's death was being investigated for murder. Tapp died after what had been reported as a fight in his hotel room in October 2023. The Clark County Coroner's office officially ruled his death a homicide, stating the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Rodimer’s attorneys are arguing the Clark County coroner’s findings show Tapp’s injuries were the result of drug and alcohol use and were not suspicious. The motion also alleges police violated attorney-client and spousal privilege by intercepting Rodimer’s text messages with his attorney and wife.
News 3 Las Vegas reported in March 2024 that an arrest warrant and criminal complaint against Rodimer were filed in Las Vegas Justice Court for a charge of open murder. The criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney's office alleges Rodimer killed Tapp by striking him "on the head, the said killing having been willful, deliberate and premeditated."
Rodimer attempted to run for Congress as a Republican in 2022, losing a narrow race in 2022.
He has not wrestled since his WWE release in 2007.
