5/3 NJPW WRESTLING DONTAKU RESULTS FROM FUKUOKA, JAPAN

Happy Golden Week!

Walker Stewart, Chris Charlton and the returning Gino Gambino on the English commentary.

1 - Master Wato, YOH and Toru Yano vs. Taisei Nakahara, Ryusuke Taguchi and Tiger Mask

Wato hits a springboard uppercut on Nakahara and gets the pin.

2 - Masatora Yasuda and Tomoaki Honma vs. OSKAR and Yuto-Ice

Yasuda came after Yuto before the match, shoving him and talking smack to him.   Yuto mocked him and did not really engage with him, almost dismissing him.  

Yuto hits a boot to Yasuda's face and hit a stiff knee strike right to Yasuda's jaw.    The referee threw up the "X" hand sign and stopped the match.   Yasuda was out cold.

3 -  Mistico, El Desperado, Taichi and Yuya Uemura vs. Kosei Fujita, Robbie Eagles, Hartley Jackson and Ryohei Oiwa

Uemura takes a down Jackson with a hurricanrana and gets a pin.

After the match, Mistico and El Desperado challenge Fujita and Eagles for the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championship tomorrow night.  TMDK accepts.

4 - Tatsuya Matsumoto, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Great O-Khan, HENARE and Will Ospreay

O-Khan hits a Flatliner on Matsumoto.  He tries to pick up Matsumoto for an Eliminator.   O-Khan applies the Claw on Matsumoto and slams his head on the mat.    The referee stops the match.

United Empire wins the match.

Ospreay argues with the heel tactics of O-Khan and HENARE.   O-Khan tells Ospreay that this is what we are now. 

They are building to a major betrayal angle very soon.

5 - Shota Umino and Konosuke Takeshita vs. Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens

Takeshita does not have the NJPW Tv belt.    Owens implies that he stole it.  

Takeshita and Umino tease dissension, and House of Torture tried to pull their tricks to capitalize.

Umino hits Second Chapter on Takahashi and gets the pin.

Takeshita tries to go after Owens, but Owens escapes saying he does steal.      Umino tries to shake Takeshita's hand but Takeshita ignores him.

6 - Daiki Nagai, Robbie X, Taiji Ishimori, Drilla Moloney and Shingo Takagi vs. Zane Jay, Jakob Austin Young, Francesco Akira, Jake Lee and Callum Newman

Moloney hits a spear and a Drilla Killa on Zane Jay and gets the pin.

7 - Aaron Wolf vs. Don Fale

Chase Owens tries to interfere but Wolf fights him off.    Wolf hits an Olympic Slam on Fale and gets the pin.

8 - NEVER Openweight Championship:   Boltin Oleg vs. Ren Narita

Oleg has his left shoulder heavily taped up.   Narita bumped hard for Oleg.   Narita hit a knee to the shoulder off the top rope and applied the cross arm breaker.  Oleg picks up Narita for a powerbomb but Dick Togo hits a low blow.  Oleg goes down and Narita locks in the cross arm breaker.   Oleg taps out.

Ren Narita wins the NEVER Openweight Championship.

After the match, Aaron Wolf challenges Narita for the NEVER Title.

9 -  IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship:  Yota Tsuji vs. Andrade El Idolo

Good match.  Both men pulled out all their big moves for his match.    Adrade pulled Tsuji to the top rope and hit DDT on the ring post, which was sick.   Andrade hits his DM finisher on Tsuji.    Andrade pins Tsuji.

Andrade El Idolo wins the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.

After the match, Hiroshi Tanahashi presents the Championship to Andrade.   

Andrade thanks Tsuji.   He thanks the fans in New Japan.  He says he is in AEW and New Japan now.   He puts out the challenge.     Drilla Moloney and Shota Umino both come to the ring.   Andrade says he will defend it against both of them in a triple threat match.  

The problem with all of this was Andrade was brought into New Japan as a member of United Empire, and there was no mention of this in the lead of to the match.    Circumstances change but it will be nice to have some explanation in the storyline.
