Well, one of the greatest tag teams just walked out the door, and hats off to them. They've been making the proverbial chicken salad for a long time, and destined for the Hall of Fame - which considering Kofi was probably on the bubble just before the group broke out is amazing. But the addition of Grayson Waller did nothing for the two of them, and they never got the ability to build up as heels to the level of the Judgment Day, so my only surprise with their exit was that it hadn't come with the others who were announced last week.
I think what their releases showed us is that only very few people are safe from being let go. We are now in a place where higher salaries can work against talents because it makes them more vulnerable for a release when TKO feels the need to cut costs.
Anyway, a few lingering questions from me:
Woods was such a big part of the 2K game/franchise - him (and Breeze) being GM choices, and all. And his whole online video game empire - I thought his UpUpDownDown YouTube channel was partially under the WWE umbrella. What happens to all that?
That’s a good question and I don’t know the answer as I type this. It will be interesting to see what happens with that and whether Woods starts a similar channel under the Austin Creed name if WWE doesn’t allow him to continue on the current show.
We know that the world will be their oyster wherever they want to go, but is there a team out there you want to see them face? We never got New Day vs. Hardys (which baffles me). Obviously, there's oodles of teams in AEW lining up to face them (Bucks, FTR, etc.) Or, do you think we'll see Kofi and Woods go their separate ways for a while?
I think the money, at least at first, is in them as a team. After that, we will see what happens. I don’t have any particular team in mind but yes, there are a lot of fresh matchups for them in AEW, which I assume is where they will end up.
Do you know if there are any members of the management at WWE who are elite members and listen to the audios?
Yes, there are Elite members in WWE management and in the locker room. I have never checked to see if they listen to our shows.
Do you see Cody Rhodes eventually turning heel in the near future?
The near future? No, I don’t see that happening. He is the face of the company and sells a lot of merchandise. I heel turn would hurt that. I think that they realize that they haven’t been kind to him in the recent booking and are working to get him back to being the babyface that he was.
