In an emotional promo, Murdoch said that he wasn't sure he could continue and said he didn't want to become someone who simply collects a paycheck without delivering for the fans. Murdoch said he didn't want to embarass himself, his family or Harley Race, who trained him. He said NWA President Billy Corgan extended his career another seven years and thanked him for believing in him when pro wrestling didn't. He said he would be retiring and thanked the fans for supporting him and allowing him to put his children through college.
Murdoch, 48, debuted as a wrestler in 1998.
There is no word whether this is a legitimate retirement or the start of a storyline.
