Beyond Wrestling “Got a Minute?”
4/18/26 Fall River, MA
This show might be cursed. The show was originally supposed to happen on Sunday, but due to the weather forecast, the cannabis dispensary that is hosting the show opted to push it up by an entire day. So I'm standing here in a parking lot with a wrestling ring, and I see two familiar faces and a bunch of wrestlers laughing because we may actually just be the only ones here. As a performer, I have definitely played my fair share of shows to nearly empty rooms, and I know what kind of wacky performances I can be capable of in that situation. So I'm sort of looking forward to what could be a delightfully dumb yet intimate show with Beyond Wrestling in the middle of a parking lot on a 40 degree day.
Match 1: World Class Channing Thomas vs Oxx Adams
Oxx easily overpowering Thomas but Channing has been around the block and works hard to chop down this giant. Oxx eats the posts and buckles but Channing eventually flies into the waiting arms of Oxx and a sitout bomb puts him down for the three. Dustin Waller is standing in front of the production tent with a headset on, doing commentary. I don't think we're live on IWTV. I think this is being taped for release later, so I'm actually kind of interested to hear what all this sounds like.
Match 2: DJ Powers vs Corey Duke
DJ is very dry today and people let him know. He attacks Duke from behind to get the advantage early. Duke fires back with some pistol punches. Powers tries to do a backslide but Corey gets him first and keeps him down for the three! We're starting to see people filter in from other parts of the festival area, which is to say other parts of the parking lot.
Match 3: The Upgrade Jay.Tunis vs Love Doug
The people call Jay “Tiny Tunis”. Brutal. This is a pretty good showing for him against the Wrestling Open tag champ. He falls victim to all the smooching stuff but he is definitely laying in a beating on Doug for a while. He counters the first Rebound Attempt with a spinebuster but the second one? He eats it and takes the three.
Match 4: Kylon King vs Erik Chacha
“This is who you gave me?” Says King. Chacha lands some solid kicks…but a lot of this is Kylon torturing his smaller opponent. Erik has a brief rally but Kylon buckle bombs him and hits a superplex for the win.
Match 5: Post Game (Vinny Talotta & Mike Walker w/ Hellfire McGuire) vs BIOPro All Stars (All In Bayno & All Go Nelli w/ Lauren St. James)
This is the first match that has really started to directly engage the people who have been slowly filtering over to the chaos. Nelli takes the brunt of the damage from Post Game, Bayno comes in hot a couple of times but McGuire plays distraction to keep getting the advantage. Lauren finally chases McGuire away! Post game with a DVD diving elbow combo…Bayno kicks out! Nelli in hot and pedigrees Walker. This is a blast. McGuire back and Lauren slaps him stupid. Unfortunately back in the ring, Post game wipes out Bayno. Nelli falls victim to a popup tandem powerbomb for the win.
Match 6: Rain Conway vs Miles Hopkin
Rain comes out, takes the Pa speaker to the back so his microphone is in perfect proximity….and it fails on him anyways. He talks about hating festivals and hating people and especially hating WEED! No Rain! This is a weed festival. The people are really starting to respond to this here. Hopkins is gonna teach Rain how to have FUN. Miles is impressively quick. He frustrates rain early. They get into a tumble weed of pin attempts…it makes rain so confused that he rolls up ref Gina and gets the three! But it’s on the ref so it doesn’t count! Hopkins goes back to killing Conway. Huge top rope elbow. Flying kick to the head puts Conway down for the three. This was awesome.
Match 7: Giorgio Lawrence vs Brando Lee
Lawrence says Lee is nothing. Lee chops up the kick boxing champ and puts him on his back repeatedly. Giorgio with some heavy kicks to get a receipt for those chops in this weather. Lee finally lands a hadouken and a rolling kick to the skull puts Lawrence down for the three.
Match 8: Bobby Casale vs Dante Drago
Drago says he’s undefeated in parking lots. Bobby decides to Lesnar the f*** out of him. Bobby is swearing up a storm. It's enough that some of us at Ringside realize the gloves are officially off, and so we start making references to Bobby's new theme song….calling him “Bobby B****”. He loves it. But it does’t matter. Dante tries hard but Bobby Smash and gets the win.
Main Event: Steven Stetson vs Pedro Dones
Stetson doing his damndest to rile up the crowd and not engage in this fight. It’s Stetson so our Worcester starts showing a little bit as the onlookers start to join in our “f*** you Steve” chants. Once he finally gets into the fight, Dones controls Stetson until Steve wraps him up in the ring apron. Stetson abuses Dones with his seated senton and a huge boot for two. Dones traps Steve in the apron skirt and gets some back. They tumbleweed through some pins. Stetson jackknifes Dones and grabs the ropes. Ref Tiger misses it entirely and Stetson gets the three in our main event. Booooo! The high is over. Steven Stetson is the official buzzkill of Beyond Wrestling.
You know? I had fun. That's what matters. Lots of weird little organic moments through this. Like the acrobats who kept trying to get on camera. Like the microphones that just refused to play nice through the show. The random people watching from porches and the street on the other side of the parking lot fence (it was a free show!). The wrestlers out at ringside cheering and jeering helped the vibe as well. i really don't know what this will look like on camera but the moment was a bit of surreal fun.
