Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of Boca Raton Championship Wrestling's Vegas Vacation from Las Vegas at the FSW Arena!
Pre-Show Notes:
Ricky Sosa will not be appearing as scheduled. There was a fear within the venue among BRCW staff that TNA pulled him from Wrestlemania weekend but we are unable to substantiate that as fact. The other version making the rounds is he had travel issues.
Coverage will commence with the start of the show. They are starting a little late as a Gabe Sapolsky seminar had a huge turnout and ran a little long, plus BRCW had to get through their production meeting.
There's about 100 or so fans here. It's a nice, small intimate venue.
BRCW
The show opened with "Red Cup" Geoff coming out to host the event. He said he is the host of Vegas and honored to be here as the host of the night. He introduced BRCW owner Matthew Maschler. Matthew welcomed everyone to BRCW and thanked them for coming. He said they are on a Vegas Vacation and introduced Frank the Clown as guest commentator. He said Frank was the most decorated manager in wrestling history. No one tell Bobby Heenan!
Machler then introduced reality TV star Mark Long, who was part of MTV's The Challenge. Long said they usually are in Boca Raton but this is a special treat as they are in Vegas. He wondered what the theme could be for the opening match and declared it to be The Mark Long Challenge.
Long brought out Zack Clayton and said he's full-blooded Italian, so he wants him to team with someone who knows all about blood...Gangrel.
Stallion Rogers & Big Trouble Ben Bishop vs. Gangrel & Zack Clayton (w/ Mark Long)
Gangrel and Rogers started out. Big pop for Gangrel. Rogers was hit with some hard chops. Clayton tagged in and nailed a big dropkick. Bishop blind-tagged in and nailed a big boot. They worked over Clayton but he made the hot tag to Gangrel. Gangrel nailed a bulldog on Bishop. They double-teamed him with a DDT off the ropes but Stallion broke it up. They battled. Bishop nailed a chokeslam and pinned Clayton. Gangrel tried to make the save but was too late.
Your winners, Stallion Rogers & Ben Bishop!
#1 Contender Match – BRCW Cruiserweight Championship: “Big Guns” Justin Andrews vs. Rhys Maddox vs. Rey Fury
Of the four, Fury got the strongest reaction. They all battled. Andrews tried a double chokeslam but was overwhelmed. Fury and Maddox began to argue amongst themselvea and battled with Fury hitting some nice springboard lucha offense. Maddox took down Fury and nailed a back senton splash for a two count. Andrews returned and took them out. He complained about the little guys running around. Well, it is a Cruiserweight contenders bout! Maddox speared him, nailed a Hidden Blade variation and covered Andrews.
Your winner and new top contender, Rhys Maddox!
Maddox was young but showed some potential. Fury looked good. Andrews played his role well as the big bully.
WrestleLit Tables Match: Cha Cha Charlie vs. Big Tito Lincoln (w/ Lloyd Anoai)
Charlie got a nice reaction. Lloyd was a member of the Samoan Gangsta Party in ECW many years ago. Lincoln is a big dude. The match is being sponsored by WrestleLit, an event taking place this weekend. Matt Maschler announced that thanks to them, they had more money in the budget so they will introduce a new championship belt, a "Latin-themed" Championship. They will be the BRCW Cha Cha Champion. I hope every promotion soon has a Cha Cha Championship.
Charlie attacked Lincoln and worked him over but was shoved off by Lincoln's power. Charlie rained down with punches in the corner (with the fans chanting CHA CHA CHA) but was caught and powerbombed. Lincoln worked over Charlie but was kicked off as he charged into the corner. Charlie went for a bodypress but was caught and slammed. Lincoln went to the floor and got a extremely thick table and brought it to the ring. Nothing good can come of this.
Lincoln set up the table in the corner and tried to whip Charlie into it but Charlie saved himself. The legs fell off the table. Charlie escaped a powerbomb and nailed an inverted Blockbuster. He nailed a big elbow. They battled and forth. Charlie nailed a suplex and then an enziguiri. He kicked LLoyd and worked over Lincoln. He speared Lincoln and the table refused to sell. They bounced off. Charlie speared him again and that did the trick!
Your winner and the first ever Cha Cha Champion, Cha Cha Charlie!
CCW Women's Champion Kristin Blaze vs. ROMA
Roma was billed from Santiago, Chile. Blaze was billed as the 1% of the 1%. Blaze had a great athletic look and was a heel.
They had some nice action out of the gate before facing off. ROMA caught Blaze going for a charge and pulled her off the ropes. She nailed a Fisherman's suplex for a two count. Blaze grabbed her by the hair and snapped her to the mat, then worked over the challenger. Blaze choked her against the ropes. They battled with forearms. Blaze used her long legs to choke ROMA in the corner. Blaze nailed a kick to the gut and then a boot to the face. Blaze scored several near falls. Blaze showed some real presence in the ring. Blaze scored several near falls but ROMA kept kicking out or grabbed the ropes. Blaze trapped her in a camel clutch and ripped at ROMA's face. ROMA fought back and nailed a clothesline, follwed by a doube underhook suplex for a two count.
They battled to the ropes, where ROMA naied a superplex and scored a two count. Blaze came back to nail ROMA with a split-legged moonsault for the pin.
Your winner and still CCW Women's Champion Kristin Blaze!
Blaze showed a lot of potential here. ROMA played a good babyface.
Steven Person came out and said he was down $5,000, so screw Vegas. He was supposed to be in the Cruiserweight bout earlier. Mark Long told him he was three hours late. Person said he was told the show was going to run on East Coast time. He said his revenge tour started in Florida and he's going to start growing his hair back, as he lost a match where his head was shaved. Red Cup Geoff told him to calm down and take it easy. He offered him a shot. Person toasted to NYC (YES!) and took the shot but the drink was too strong or something and he started to get sick. Long kicked him for disrespecting Jeff and Vegas, then tossed him to the floor.
BRCW Tag Team Championship: Sons of Boca (Koah Kekoa & Cezar Bononi with Sean Maluta & Neil the Heel) vs. EJ Nduka & Kenny King
The champs took a jersey from a "fan" and cut it up with hedge clippers.
Nduka and Bononi faced off, striking each other but neither monster could make the other budge. They nailed stereo big boots that sent them staggering back into their corners and tagging out. Kekoa and King battled, with Kekoa working over King's arm. King escaped a suplex attempt and maneuevered Kekoa into his corner. Nduka tagged in and worked over Kekoa. Kekoa fired back with body stots. All four battled in the ring until the challengers cleared the ring. Neil the Heel declared they didn't actually earn their shot and offered them a six man tag instead...and they picked the partner for them...James Ellsworth. What in the name of Terry Funk is happening here?
Koah Kekoa & Cezar Bononi & Sean Maluta vs. EJ Nduka & Kenny King & James Ellworth.
I don't know why the challengers would agree to this, but OK! King battled with Bononi and nailed an enziguiri. Cesar cut him off and put the boots to him. Kekoa nailed some crossfaces. Maluta tagged in and continued working over King. King was worked over for a long time as they tagged in and out, keeping on the defensive. The fans chanted for Kenny. King battled his way out and tagged in Nduka, who cleaned house with big power spots. He cleaned house and nailed a Bookend on Bononi but Ellsworth tagged himself in. Maluta rolled him up and pinned Ellsworth.
Your winners, Koah Kekoa & Cezar Bononi & Sean Maluta!
Ellsworth revealed he was in cahoots with the champs. They then turned on him and put the boots to him.
Joe Coffey vs. Matt Riddle
They showed each other respect at the bell. Riddle tried to mount Coffey but was slammed down. He was taken down to the mat and his arm was worked over. Riddle reversed it and transitioned into a head scissors. Coffey fought to get out and grabbed a side headlock. Riddle went for a guillotine choke but was suplexed over. Coffey maintained control. Riddle battled back with chops and used a hanging armbar over the ropes. Riddle came off the ropes but was nailed with a forearm. Coffey scored several two counts. Riddle made a comeback and scored with several kicks to the chest. Riddle went for a back senton splash but Coffey pulled his knees up. Riddle nailed a suplex but was too spent to take advantage. The referee counted them out but before the 10 count, they battled to their feet. Riddle nailed a big back suplex. Coffey nailed a powerbomb for a two count. Riddle drilled him coming off the ropes and nailed the Bro Dereck for the pin.
Your winner, Matt Riddle!
Good, solid bout.
They aired a promo from BRCW Champion Steve Maclin on the screen, saying Riddle must feel good having gone to Vegas and betting on himself. He mockingly congratulated Riddle. He said that he wishes he could be there to celebrate in person but as a person of honor, he'd never lower himself to go to Las Vegas. It'll be them in a title bout this July in Boca Raton. He said "this isn't going to feel so good." Ben Bishop and Stallion Rogers attacked Riddle. Coffey made the save and challenged them to a tag match but they left.
