AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2026-04-08 22:37:00

AEW Dynamite is live from Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB, Canada. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Nigel McGuinness, and Tony Schiavone.

As the show starts, Will Ospreay is attacking Jon Moxley, but the Death Riders show up and attack. They back off as an SUV shows up, and Alex Windsor gets out as well as Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, and Henare from New Japan Pro Wrestling’s United Empire join him and all of them brawl in the parking garage and then into the building and to the ring.

Mox and Ospreay fight in the ring. Marina Shafir and Alex Windsor also start brawling in the ring. Everyone eventually hits the ring and they all go back and forth until the United Empire stands tall in the ring having driven off the Death Riders.

Ospreay grabs a mic and says he is using his head and brought his teammates from New Japan, and he gives the Death Riders an hour and twenty minutes for United Empire vs Death Riders for the main event.

We are told Kyle Fletcher’s injury has made it so he has to vacate the TNT title. Don Callis says that the title will be decided in a Casino Gauntlet Match at Dynasty. He then says it means Protokada can’t wrestle at Dynasty. He then hypes the Don Callis Family match later tonight.

Darby Allin, Bandido, and Jungle Jack Perry vs The Don Callis Family (Andrade El Idolo, Konosuke Takeshita, and Mark Davis)

Darby and Idolo start the match and then Andrade goes to the back and Takeshita locks up with Darby. Darby gets a Code Red on Takeshita. Davis and Takeshita are dived onto by Perry and Darby. Darby grabs a mic and calls Idolo and Idolo comes back out as Takeshita attacks Darby from behind and then gets a trio of German suplexes on him. Don Callis comes from the back and high-fives Takeshita and Davis.

Darby is rolled into the ring and Takeshita gets a series of stomps to Darby’s midsection in the middle of the ring. Darby escapes and Perry tags in. Perry sends Takeshita and Davis to the floor and then dives onto them. Perry rolls Takeshita into the ring and goes to the top. Perry fights Davis off and leaps into a huge punch from Takeshita. Callus joins commentary. Idolo drops Perry across the barricade and then takes a selfie with a woman at ringside as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Perry has been the babyface in peril. Perry gets an insigiri on Davis to tag in Bandido who runs wild. Takeshita is able to avoid a 21 Plex and gets a blue thunder bomb on Bandido for two. Davis tags in and Bandido lays in blows. Davis comes off the ropes and Bandido gets a hurricanrana into a pin for two. Then it’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring.

Davis and Takeshita beat down Darby on the floor and then toss him onto the timekeeper’s table. In the ring, Perry fights off Davis and Takeshita until Davis gets a lariat on Perry. Davis gets a pile driver and tags in Idolo. He hits the DM on Perry for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Don Callis Family.

Perry is stomped down after the pin and when Darby gets into the ring, Idolo nails Darby with a low blow. The Family with Callis go back to attack Perry, but the Young Bucks come running from the back for the save. They take out each member of the Family with superkicks until the Bucks hit Davis with the BTE trigger. They set up to give Takeshita the Meltzer Driver, but Okada pulls Nick off the apron, allowing the Family to get the upper hand and beat down the Bucks.

Okada and Takeshita come face to face and start throwing hands with each other in the ring. The other members of the Family pull them apart. The Rascalz hits the ring and they dive onto the Family with Bandido, so the Rascalz and the Bucks are in the ring standing tall as Darby and Perry recover to join them.

In the back, Lexi Nair is with Dic Samson, and he says that MJF’s statements about Kenny Omega’s medical condition aren’t true, and Omega is in the best condition of his life.

Willow Nightingale (TBS Champion) vs Queen Aminata

Aminata is back from injury as of this match.

Willow calls for a handshake and Aminata kicks her instead and covers for two. Willow rolls to the floor to regroup and when Willow goes to enter the ring, Aminata attacks her and continues the attack on the floor. Willow starts to fight back and they brawl on the floor as we see Hikaru Shida looking on from the crowd.

Willow rolls Aminata back into the ring and then gets ten clotheslines in the corner and then a lariat in the middle of the ring for one only. Aminata gets an arm drag and then a running knee for two. Aminata gets her chocolate kisses attack as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Aminata has Willow in an abdominal stretch and then moves it to a rollup for two. Willow gets a backbreaker on her shoulders and then charges into Aminata in the corner. Willow gets a shotgun drop-kick from the second rope and then a Death Valley driver for two.

Aminata gets out of the way and Willow charges toward her and goes to the floor, but Willow gets a cannonball senton into Aminata on the floor. She rolls Aminata into the ring and goes to the top for a moonsault, but Aminata rolls inward to avoid it. Aminata gets an elbow strike for two. Aminata gets a stomp and then goes to the top for a double stomp for two. Willow gets to her feet and they trade blows back and forth. Aminata blocks a pounce with a headbutt and Willow gets a comebacker lariat off the ropes and both women are down.

Willow is able to get a backslide for two. Aminata is able to get an air raid crash for two. Willow is able to get the pounce and then gets the gut wrench power bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TBS Champion: Willow Nightingale

Willow helps Aminata up and shakes her hand.

We then get a hype video for MJF to lead into his match with Kenny Omega at Dynasty Sunday night.

Then, it’s time for Chris Jericho to address the crowd. He says that AEW is his home and he will make it official only 100 kilometers from where he had his first match by signing his new contract in the ring. He puts over AEW and talks about how AEW is a risk that paid off. He talks about the risks he has taken as a wrestler. He then says all he cares about is building this company no matter where he is on the card.

As he starts to sign the contract, Ricochet, Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona come to the ring. Ricochet says that Canada sucks and he hates it here. He then says he came out to talk to Jericho, and if he had come out to hurt Jericho, they already would have. He then tells Jericho to do him a favor and just don’t. Don’t sign the contract and don’t come back and he’s been gone for a year singing with his karaoke band.

Ricochet says Jericho is one of the greatest champions of all time and he helped AEW rise, but now Ricochet is The Man. He puts himself over. He says he is doing this because he respects Jericho and he speaks for everyone when he says no one wants him here. He tells Jericho to pack it up, get out of his ring before he gets himself hurt.

Jericho then says that Ricochet really is bald. Jericho then says he doesn’t give a shit what Ricochet thinks and he has a clause in his contract where he can choose anyone for his opponent for Dynasty, but now that he’s signed his contract he has a decision to make. He has made his decision and after not doing it for ten years…and Ricochet JUST MADE THE LIST!

Lexi is now with the Don Callis Family and says Andrade El Idolo will put Darby Allin in the dirt. He then announces that at Dynasty the match will be the Young Bucks vs Okada and Takeshita. They both say no, and he tells them this is about Kyle Fletcher. Takeshita says he will do it but he wants Okada’s belt, and Don says if they beat the Bucks, Takeshita gets his match with Okada. Don tells them to shake hands like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippin. They do and Okada says he is Jordan, and the Family is able to pull them apart before it comes to blows.

Tommaso Ciampa vs Mascara Dorada - Winner is the first entrant in the Gauntlet match at Dynasty

Ciampa eyes the TNT belt which is on the line at the Gauntlet battle before they lock up and trade arm bars and headlocks. They go the mat wrestling back and forth and Ciampa goes for the mask. They lock up again and Ciampa slams Mascara to the mat. Mascara pops up and gets a rollup for two. Ciampa gets a rollup for two. Mascara goes for a Labell lock and Ciampa goes to the ropes for the break and then to the floor to reset the match.

Mascara gets a series of kicks after coming off the ropes. Mascara comes off a two rope bounce for an arm drag and then dives to the floor. Ciampa dodges the dive and whips mascara into the ring. They trade blows and Mascara gets a tejaris and a tornado over the rope rope onto Ciampa as we go to picture in picture

When we return to full screen, Ciampa and Mascara are trading chops and strikes. Mascara gets out of a slingshot into the corner and gets an arm drag instead. Ciampa is whipped to the floor and Mascara gets a PK from the apron and then a dive from the top into Ciampa. Ciampa is rolled into the ring and Mascara goes to the top for a 450 splash for two. Mascara gets a running leg lariat after they each try to hoist the other. Ciampa gets a low drop-kick as Mascara tries a backflip off the ropes. Cimapa gets a backbreaker for two.

Ciampa puts Mascara on top and Ciampa joins him. They go back and forth and Mascara gets a kick to Ciampa on top and then puts Ciampa on his shoulder for a neck breaker slam for two. Mascara tries for a moonsault but Ciampa gets the knees up. They go back and forth and Cimapa gets a head seeker followed by a running knee for the pin and the win.

Winner and winning the first spot in the Gauntlet match on Dynasty- Tommaso Ciampa.

In the back, Clark Conners, Gabe Kidd and David Finely talk about how they beat down the Conglomeration as they beat down Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong.

Lexi is with Thekla and Thekla is sick of hearing about Jamie Hayter and if Lexi says it again, she will break every one of her bones. She says she took out Hayter in her first match because she was the easiest to beat. At Dynasty, Hayter will be the dumbest bitch bit.

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage come to the ring. Cope says that jealousy and pettiness caused FTR to hate him. Cope says it’s not his fault and he won’t shrink into their world and they can’t grow to fit into his. He says he and Cage will take their place as the tag team champions. Cage then says FTR needs to sit down and shut up while he conducts his business. He then says FTR has pissed off Canada. He then says FTR has been naughty, and as a father figure, he paid a visit to both of their mothers.

And by paid a visit, he means he banged them both, and when he visits Stokely’s mother, it will be as one half of the tag team champions.

FTR and Stokely come out and as they come to the ring, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta attack Cope and Cage in the ring. FTR joins in and Cage and Cope are beaten down. Stokely then steals Cage’s watch as Cash Pillmanizes Cage’s arm with a chair.

In the back Darby cuts a promo that people are wrong when they say he doesn’t care about a thing, and instead he cares too much. He’s scared he can’t win the big one. He can’t be the face of the company. He then says Andrade doesn’t know what he’s gotten himself into and he needs this win more than anything.

United Empire (Will Ospreay, Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, and Henare)vs Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Pac, Claudio Castagnoli, and Daniel Garcia) - Chaos in Canada match

The brawl starts in the crowd as Mox and his team are on their way to the ring. Mox and Ospreay fight to ringside as the others fight their way to ringside as well. Alex Windsor comes running from the back to attack Marina Shafir. Akira grabs a ladder and attacks the Death Riders all the way to the ring and then sets up the ladder in the ring where he goes to the top to dive onto the Death Riders at ringside as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ospreay and Newman dive onto the Death Riders and then Ospreay sets up a table with the steel steps right next to it. Mox is pulled to the steel steps and Claudio frees Mox from Newman and Ospreay. Hanare is rolled into the ring by Claudio and Pac rolls Akira into the ring. Pac and Hanare fight to the floor while Garcia and Claudio work over Akira.

Pac returns to the ring so that the Death Riders can give Newman forever uppercuts in the corner. Garcia wraps his sweatshirt around Ospreay’s neck and beats on him on the apron. Hanare then gets the forever clotheslines in the corner, but he explodes out of the corner and takes down the Death Riders. As Hanare goes after Garcia, Claudio grabs him and carries him around the ring to hit a vertical suplex through a table on the other side of the ring as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, we are told Mox hit a pile driver on Ospreay and gives him a series of blows to Ospreay’s neck. Ospreay is able to start fighting back and Mox grabs a rear naked choke. It’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring ending with Garcia getting a dragon tamer with Mox getting a curb stomp for two, broken up by Akira. Mox and Akira throw hands and after Mox clotheslines him, Newman takes his place.

Ospreay and Garcia join the fight and Ospreay and Newman get cutters on Mox and Garcia for two. Claudio gets a giant swing on Ospreay. Hanare power bombs Pac and then he drives Mox through a table at ringside. Akira slams Garcia into a table that doesn’t break. Newman gets a double stomp from the top into Pac on a table.

Left in the ring are Ospreay and Mox throwing hands in the middle of the ring. Ospreay leaps off the top into a kick from Mox, who then hits a paradigm shift. Mox gets a series of paradigm shifts on Ospreay until Newman breaks it up. Ospreay hits a huddle blade on Mox, into the table set up in the ring for the pin and the win.

Winners: United Empire

Ospreay is about to hit a Tiger Driver on Mox, but Claudio grabs Mox and takes him out fo the ring to save him.

Next is a hype video for Kenny Omega.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to speak to Kenny Omega. Kenny says it has been 25 years since he had been here, and praises the Indy scene they have. He says that makes them friends so he will be transparent, and last week he lost his cool. He then says the Ibushi thing didn’t make him mad. The diverticulitis didn’t make him mad. So, what set him off?

He goes over his nicknames and says that they are all things the fans have said about him, and they are all a responsibility. He says AEW was an idea where people could see the best wrestling, and MJF is famous because of his mouth. He says everything MJF can do, Kenny can do better, and he can do things MJF can’t do. He says MJF should be pissed off because all he can do is talk. He can never do what Kenny Omega does.

Kenny says he lost his cool because he thought it was all on him to write the legacy and save AEW by putting the belt on someone who can wrestle. He then says he was wrong, and it’s not his responsibility, and it is OUR legacy. What people deserve is a champion that wears the belt with pride and goes down in the annals of time as one of the greatest of all time. He says because of what he has gone through, it means more, and everything he was scared of are now his strengths.

He will take the belt from MJF and start to right the wrongs MJF has done.

This brings out MJF. MJF says that Kenny thinks he is better than MJF and he will beat MJF. MJF says Kenny has gotten better on the mic, and MJF says deep down, everyone is scared because this might be Kenny’s last shot at the Championship. MJF says they are all wrong because it will be his last shot. He says that the last time they met, Kenny says he was at 75%, but what will be his excuse after Dynasty?

MJF says at Dynasty, Kenny will find out what everyone else has learned, they are not at the level of the devil, and the devil will rise.

Kenny then says he learns a little more every single week, and he knows that the belt means a lot to him. It means so much he would honor the tradition of shaking hands. Kenny holds out his hand and MJF takes a swing at him instead. Kenny nails MJF and leaves him laying and pulls off the Dynamite Diamond ring. He says he knows MJF and has studied him, and at the PPV it won’t be people talking about MJF, and he bids the crowd goodbye and good night.

And we are desperately out of time as the show has gone nearly a half hour past the top of the hour!
