After Smackdown on Friday, the bar was low for me to enjoy RAW. I thought there was some good storyline progression and fleshing out of the WM card, so mission accomplished.
The two shows are often very different. Raw is definitely the A show to me.
CM Punk had another stellar promo, as expected; do you think Punk’s mentioning of Pat McAfee was just him getting it off his chest/pumping up the angle or a precursor to Pat getting involved in Punk’s match? Or perhaps did Punk mention it as a shot in the arm to the story, since most people have crapped all over it?
Punk's promo was awesome. Yes, he shot, but everything he shot about is germane to what is going on in his program with Roman and the company overall. McAfee was a dope to say anything about ticket sales in the first place. Who tells the fans, "A lot of you don't want to see our biggest show of the year!"? I don't know if Punk will ever get to lay Pat out but I was really glad he addressed that shitty promo.
Was it just me, or did you flinch a little when Stephanie Vaquer nailed Liv Morgan and sent her into Roxanne backstage? That looked like a really hard hit and if their skulls didn’t connect, they got as close as humanly possible.
That was STIFF! As I used to say about ECW over three decades ago, "This ain't chess!" Things can go wrong, for sure.
3. What do you think Gunther will ask of Paul Heyman in the future as payment for attacking Seth?
It would just be a guess.
4. When Heyman was speaking about how anticipated Oba/Brock is, it wasn’t even hype to me. I love nothing better than 2 monsters just throwing bombs and it could easily be the main event either night. Now, I think that honour should be reserved for the respective men’s world title bouts, BUT, could you see it happening? And if it did, what would you think? It is by far THE match I want to see in 2 weeks.
I think it deserves to headline Night One because, as you said, the anticipation for it is huge and they destroyed a lot of people's interest in Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton with that horrible McAfee promo. But, I don't see them making the change. I wouldn't be shocked if the open Saturday with Oba-Brock since it will air on ESPN2 (and Brock likes to go home early).
