Welcome to PWInsider.com's coverage of United Wrestling Network's Sunday Night Slam on Adrenaline+ from Long Beach, CA.
Our announcers are Jonny Loquasto, Christian Cole and Todd Kenely!
Che Cabera & Bad Dude Tito, The Wolfe Zaddies vs. Boa Silva & Anthony Rivers, The Pumpline.
Tito and Rivers started out. Tito was way larger. He offered a side headlock. Rivers took it and it didn't work out well. Tito massacred him with chops. Cabrera tagged in and continued the beating. Tito finally delivered mercy by making the pin with a foot on the chest and then rudely threw him out of the ring. OUCH.
Your winners, The Wolfe Zaddies!
After the match, they said this was an easy payday. Tito said he wants titles and legacy and is tired of wasting his time. Cabrera was just happy they won. The idea was that they were not on the same page.
Napster is apparently a sponsor. I had no idea that even still existed.
They went to a promo from Heritage Champion Maximilien with manager Jordan Castle. He said Roycce Isaacs was stepping up to the plate and is a former champion on his own. There was audio from the venue bleeding into the promo but you could still hear it. He said Isaacs used to be a paper champion but today, it's a different UWN. It's the one oiwned by the current champion and he's going to go home crying to Josh Barnett that he lost via tapout. Promo was good.
Zeda Zhang interviewed Fred Rosser about challenging the UWN Champion tonight. He asked the fans if they remember The Nexus, Bob Backlund and The Prime Time Players. He said there's no better feeling than being under the ring lights. He warned Jordan Cruz he would leave with three boots on. The ones on his feet and the one Rosser intends to bury in his rear end.
Koto Hiro vs. El Primoherio
Hiro was a masked talent billed from Japan. They said his mother moved him at 12 to the United States to distance him from his father, who was in the yakuza. Well, OK. They locked up several times with Primoherio in control early. He then shoulderblocked Hiro down. Hiro used some quick cartwheels and armdrags to take his opponent down. He nailed several back elbows. Hiro went to the top but Primo ducked the move. He caught Hiro with a backbreaker over the knee and followed up with a tiltowhirl version. Hiro caught him with a small package for a two count, only to be drilled down to the mat. They battled back and forth. Hiro was caught with a sit-out powerbomb but kicked out. The story was he had heart and was fighting through the beating. They battled to the top, where Hiro knocked Primo off the ropes and nailed him with a double stomp off the ropes and hit a brainbuster for the pin.
Jonny Loquasto introduced The Crazy Chickens, two masked wrestlers. Delirium with Karma came out. She sent Delirium to the ring and they beat the chickens. The Chickens went to the top and came off with stereo bodypresses. It's now an official match. One of the chickens went for a dive but his foot got caught on the ropes. Ouch. Another chicken got his foot caught in the tag rope. These chickens are having a rough night in the coop. I know Dave Marquez likes hamming it up, but these chickens may be crossing the road, er, line. Delirium wiped out the chickens. They hit a chicken with a double face-first chokeslam that was titled The Fatality and pinned him. Somewhere The Red Rooster is crying.
Your winners. Delirium!
UWN Champion Jordan Cruz responded to Fred Rosser, promising to win tonight in the main event and show off his title to close the show.
UWN Tag Team Champions 5150 vs. The Midnight Heat
5150 attacked at the bell. The Heat used frequent tags and scored a two count after a backstabber. Ricky Gibson was cut off and 5150 worked him over for some time. They battled back and forth until the champions retained.
Your winners and still Champions, 5150!
Match seemed fine but watching on YouTube, I kept getting commercials every 90 seconds, so it was hard to get a feel for this.
They went to a video from Zicky Dice announcing he was medically cleared to return.
Mathias vs. Cha Cha Charlie
Charlie danced. Mathias tried to tie him up but Charlie danced out of it. Mathias grabbed him and drove Charlie into the buckles, scoring a two count. Charlie came back with a Slingblade and a cutter for a two count. Mathias caught him with a DVDR for the pinfall.
Your winner, Mathias!
Mathia has a good look. Charlie brought some charisma. This was short but fine.
UWN Women's Champion Big Mama wished the women's competitors luck, mocking them.
Gypsy Mac vs. Simone
Simone was billed from Australia and has worked WOW as Princess Aussie. Mac was billed as The Heavy Metal Princess. Mac used a series of armdrags early. Simone cut her off and whipped her into the buckles. Simone scored several two counts and worked over Mac in the corner. Mac tried to make a comeback but was caught with a clothesline. Simone mounted her and nailed a series of punches before a pinfall attempt. Mac made a comeback with a hip attack and a big boot to the face. She came off the top with a flying bodypress for a two count. Simone nailed a Pele Kick variant for a two count. Simone went for a double underhook suplex but was pushed back into the corner. Mac drilled her with a forearm and caught her with a sidewinder for a two count. Simone nailed a series of elbow strikes and hit a double underhook suplex for the pin.
Your winner, Simone!
They are obviously early in their careers but worked hard here to entertain.
UWN TV Champion Evan Daniels vs. Jack Cartwheel
Cartwheel is under a WWE ID deal and has been an extremely entertaining part of AAA in recent months. Daniels drilled him and used his power to control Cartwheel early but Jack used his signature cartwheels to escape and keep the champ off balance. Daniels went to the floor to try and regroup. Daniels dropped him across the top rope and came off the ropes going for a knee strike but Cartwheel moved out of the way. Cartwheel used a slingshot over the ropes into an elbow. Cartwheel went to the top. Daniels went after him but Jack cartwheeled off and into the ring but his knee went out. Daniels attacked him and mocked Jack. Daniels went to whip Cartwheel across the ring but again the knee went out. Daniels went for a powerbomb but Jack escaped and drilled him with a knee. Jack, limping, tried to fight back and rolled up Daniels for a two count. He ducked a charge and Daniels went to the apron from over the ropes. Daniels was knocked to the floor. Jack "kicked" the leg into the buckles to "fix it" and it finally worked. He exploded into a series of offense maneuvers. Cartwheel nailed a DVDR for a two count. Cartwheel nailed a space flying tiger drop to the floor. Cartwheel went to the top but Daniels rolled to the floor. He pulled Cartwheel into the ring post and then spiked him with a cutter. The referee was bumped. Daniels tried to use the title but Jack ducked and hit a cartwheel kick. He covered Evan but there was no referee to make the count. Jack tried to rouse the referee but was nailed with the title belt and pinned.
Your winner and still UWN TV Champion Evan Daniels!
This told a good story and Cartwheel did a great job with selling the knee and with his facial expressions. Daniels was great as the heavy here. The title belt shot is so used these days that I wish they had utilized some other way for him to cheat to victory, but that's just me. Best match on the broadcast thus far.
Royce Isaacs said he's back one day after seven years and he's already dealing with two clowns in Jordan Castle and Maximilien. Every path they walk was a brick laid by Isaacs. It's time to get his belt back. Good, short promo.
UWN Heritage Champion Maximilien with Jordan Castle vs. Royce Isaacs
They locked up with Isaacs backing the champ into the corner and breaking clean. They locked up again and this time, Max backed him in the corner and slammed him. Isaacs fired back and they went at it. Isaacs nailed a delayed vertical suplex and held him aloft for 20 seconds. Max fired back and went for an over the shoulder slam but Issacs maneuevered him to the mat for a two count. The idea here was too big bulls battling it out. Max nailed a DDT for a two count. Max kicked away at him in the corner. Castle choked Isaacs as the referee was distracted. Issacs battled back and nailed a Side Russian Legsweep. Issacs put some offensive sequences together, including a kick to the best. Isaacs nailed a series of clotheslines in the corner. Max ducked a running clothesline but was nailed on the rebound. Castle distracted the referee as Isaacs went for a full nelson. Isaacs was kicked low and locked in The Max Factory, a cobra clutch variant. Isaacs tapped.
Your winner and still Champion Maximilien!
UWN Champion Jordan Cruz vs. Fred Rosser
Rosser, now a regular with New Japan, is the former Darren Young in WWE. Cruz was trying to untie one of the turnbuckles before the bell. They had some fun grappling early on. They battled outside to the apron. Cruz attempted to powerbomb Rosser off the aprin to the floor. Rosser hit a sit-out splash to save himself. They battled on the floor, with Rosser drilling him backwards into the apron. Rosser lifted and slammed Cruz into the guard rail.
Back in the ring, Cruz regained control, ripping at Rosser's face and drilling him with strikes. He again went after the buckle, trying to loosen it as the referee checked on Rosser. They battled again to the apron, where Rosser blocked a knee and hit a belly to back suplex on the apron. Rosser brought him back into the ring and nailed a big lariat and then a series of chops in the corner. Rosser attacked the legs, taking Cruz down with kicks. He nailed a series of hip attacks. They battled back and forth. Rosser locked into the Chicken Wing and then nailed a gutbuster for a two count. He nailed a series of elbow strikes and locked the chicken wing back on. Cruz battled to his feet and grabbed the buckle he was loosening. It ripped off and they fell to the floor. The referee went to replace it and Rosser tried to get the referee's attention. That allowed Cruz to nail him with a leaping kick to the head and drill Rosser with his finisher, No More Sorrow.
Your winner and still Champion, Jordan Cruz!
