GUNTHER’S MOTIVATION, RAW > MAIN EVENT, JERICHO BACK IN AEW AND MORE

I see on Raw they announced the participants in the InterContinental title ladder match for Wrestlemania… before the qualifying matches had been held on Main Event. Was this just a bad continuity oversight by the production/creative team?

Honestly, I think it was an admission that Main Event doesn’t really matter much in the overall scheme of things.  I think it is more important to announce the match a week earlier on the show with the most viewers.

This might be long, so apologies. Had a debate tonight as I read reports of Jericho's return to AEW. My understanding is his contract was paused in April 2025. His deal was set to expire in December. So he would technically have 8 months of service he owes. The other side is arguing that in wrestling contracts where it's been paused, the length is extended from when it was paused to when you return, so April to April, 1 year. Which one is true?

If a contract is paused with a year left on it, the remaining time usually starts when the talent returns.

Lastly, is it possible Jericho negotiated with TK to reduce amount owed so he can get out sooner and over to WWE(assuming that's his end goal)?  I admit, I'm very surprised he's back on AEW television.

Sure, it’s possible.  Honestly though, Jericho’s options are limited.  We saw how WWE felt about using an older Adam Copeland when he was there and Jericho is even older than Copeland is.  If Jericho wants more than a recurring role, AEW is his best option. He would have been used occasionally in WWE.

While I understand that Gunther should have a match at WM, his unprovoked attack on Seth Rollins seems rushed and "last minute."  Because of injuries, if or when talents will be medically cleared, and other factors, I know this is an unusual year, but if I may use a corny actor's phrase/question, what is Gunther's motivation?

I hope that is explained on Raw tonight, and I think it will be.  As I talked about on audio this week, they made such a big deal about Paul Heyman’s email from Adam Pearce that there’s no world that a character as smart as Heyman’s wouldn’t have actually checked it out and gotten the intel.  What I am guessing is that they will do some variation of Heyman did check the email and then brought in Gunther to have his back.  Both he and Seth Rollins deserve Mania matches so I have no problem with them going this route.  Honestly, with the injuries to Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, I would like to see Gunther join The Vision as its top guy.
