Danny Spivey, who had a long career in Florida, All Japan Pro Wrestling, WCW and the WWF, among other promotions has released a memoir, The Dangerous Truth: A Life of Chaos, Consequences and Sobriety.
Promotional material for the book notes, "The Dangerous Truth, more than just wrestling, it’s a raw story of betrayal, loss, survival and redemption. With his career and life in ruins, Dan Spivey faced a choice, die from addiction or fight for something bigger than himself. From the bright lights of professional wrestling to the downward spiral that never seemed to end. He lay there dying from an out-of-control addiction, to then kick out, Dan knew what he must do, that’s when he found a better way to life. The Dangerous Truth is Spivey's brutally honest, unflinching, and darkly funny confession: the unforgettable story of a man who was once his own worst enemy to become his greatest champion."
After playing college football at the University of Georgia and briefly pursuing an NFL career, Spivey entered professional wrestling, where he replaced Barry Windham as Mike Rotunda's tag team partner and later performed as Waylon Mercy a swamp-dwelling, psychologically intense character inspired by the film Cape Fear. In WCW, Spivey was one half of The Skyscrapers with Sid Vicious.
The 234-page book, which was released independently, is now available for orders on Amazon.
