INTERIM MLP CHAMPION CROWNED AND MORE: 3/27 MLP UPRISING COVERAGE FROM WINDSOR, ONTARIO

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling presents Uprising, from Windsor, Ontario at St. Clair College. Our commentary team is Ian Riccaboni and Don Callis.

Mascara Dorada and Bhupinder Gujjar vs. Jake Crist and Michael Allen Richard Clarke

Gujjar and Clarke start the match by locking up, and Gujjar shoves Clarke down. They run the ropes, and Gujjar gets a tijeras and then a leaping splash in the corner. They run the ropes again, and Gujjar gets a dropkick. Clarke regroups on the outside and then tags in Crist. Mascara is also tagged in, and Crist pie-faces Mascara. They run the ropes and each cartwheels out of a hurricanrana. Mascara then gets a tijeras. Crist goes to the floor and huddles with Clarke.

When Clarke and Crist get on the apron, Mascara and Gujjar dropkick them to the floor and then dive onto them. Mascara and Crist return to the ring, and Mascara gets a PK and tags in Gujjar. Crist distracts the ref and allows Clarke to attack Gujjar from the apron. Gujjar drops Clarke, and Crist charges into Gujjar, and Clarke dives into him.

Gujjar is rolled into the ring, and Crist gets a neckbreaker for two. Clarke is tagged in and works over Gujjar in the corner. Crist and Clarke work Gujjar over with quick tags. Gujjar finally gets the hot tag to Mascara after a crossbody from the top on Clarke, and Mascara cleans house.

The flurry ends with a tilt-a-whirl slam on Crist for two. Gujjar tags back in, and Gujjar gets a leaping knee, Mascara hits a question mark kick, and Gujjar hits a TKO for two on Crist. Crist gets a series of kicks on Gujjar, and Clarke joins in. They hit a two-man slam for two. Gujjar gets a jawbreaker on Clarke. Gujjar follows up with forearms in the corner and then a TKO and tags in Mascara.

Mascara whips Gujjar into Clarke in the corner. Mascara hits a spinning splash and then a rolling splash. Gujjar gets a spinebuster and dives onto Clarke. Gujjar gets a spear into Clarke for the pin and the win.

Winners: Mascara Dorada and Bhupinder Gujjar

Sam Leterna is with Sheldon Jean, Brent Banks, and Bryce Hansen, and Jean says that he loves all wrestlers, and “What’s mine is yours, but it’s still MINE!” and he will capture the tag team title. He blames Bryce and badmouths him. When he leaves, Bryce yells at everyone in the area until he sees Daisuke Sasaki, who throws a chair at him.

Taylor Rising and Kris Chambers vs. Alice Crowley and Evil Uno

Taylor and Alice start the match and lock up, and Taylor gets a double-leg takedown into a cover for one only. Alice gets a backslide for two. Taylor gets a side roll into a pin for two. Uno and Kris are tagged in, and they lock up and move to arm bars. Kris forces Uno with a wristlock, Uno gets a side headlock takeover. They work to their feet, and Kris gets a dropkick. They run the ropes and shoulder block into each other back and forth until Uno drops Kris.

Alice and Taylor tag in, and Alice gets a PK and follows with a Saito suplex for two, broken up by Kris. Taylor jaws at Kris, and when she turns to face Taylor, Kris pulls Alice down by her hair, and Taylor covers for two. Taylor lays in chops in the corner and whips Alice to the corner. When Taylor charges, Alice grabs her. Taylor gets a casadora for two and hits a leaping double stomp on Alice. Kris is tagged in, and Taylor gets a scoop slam on Alice for two, and Uno breaks it up.

Alice is the babyface in peril as Taylor and Kris work her over with quick tags. Alice is able to get the tag when she escapes a double underhook by making it a back body drop. Uno runs wild. Uno ends the sequence with a shoulder breaker into a pin, broken up by Taylor. Kris gets a superkick into a rollup for two. Kris almost runs into Taylor, and when Uno charges at Kris, he knocks Taylor from the ring.

Kris gets a surprise follow-up for two into a sharpshooter, but Alice grabs Kris for a back suplex. Uno gets the piledriver for the pin and the win.

Winners: Alice Crowley and Evil Uno

The Swirl (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson) w/ Jay Lethal vs. El Reverso and Mo Jabari

Jimmy Jacobs joins commentary and lets us know he is scouting talent.

Mo and Lee start the match with waistlocks and arm bars quickly. They run the ropes, and Mo gets a shoulder tackle. Mo catches Lee when he leaps, and Lee fights his way free. Blake gets a blind tag, and as Mo keeps up the attack, Blake joins in. Reverso tags in, and they double-team Blake. Reverso works over Blake in the corner. Lee gives Blake a monkey flip, who clotheslines Reverso. Blake hits a pair of suplexes and tags in Lee.

They then work over Reverso by cutting the ring in half. Reverso is able to escape out the back of a suplex and tags in Mo, who is able to fight off both members of The Swirl. When Lee shoves Mo into the corner, The Swirl is able to hit double-team moves in the corner. Reverso tries to free Mo and gets knocked to the floor. Blake dives onto Reverso as Lee charges into Mo. Mo is now the babyface in peril.

Mo is able to get the hot tag to Reverso after he and Blake clothesline each other down, and Lee tries to stop his offense without tagging in. Reverso gets an El Reverso Drop, knocking Lee to the floor, and covers Blake for two. Reverso misses a moonsault from the top but then gets a destroyer on Blake for two. Lee returns to the ring, and they hit the Swirl handspring kick double team on Reverso for two, broken up by Mo.

All four men fight in the ring until everyone is down. Jimmy leaves commentary to go to the ring and pulls out a chair. He hands the chair to Mo and tells him to use it. Mo picks it up and hands it back to Jimmy, and Blake spears him. Reverso is left alone in the ring, and he tries to fight off both members of The Swirl, but they hit The Swirl with the Twist for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Swirl

Sam Leterna is with Bishop Dyer, and he says he attacked Kaito Kiyomiya last night because he’s an asshole. That’s pretty straightforward.


Bishop Dyer vs. Kaito Kiyomiya

Kaito shoves Dyer, and Dyer knocks him down. Kaito gets a Thesz press, but Dyer fights him off. They run the ropes, and Kaito knocks down Dyer and lays in blows. He then lays in ten in the corner on Dyer twice. Dyer gets a knee strike, and Kaito is knocked to the floor. Dyer works over Kaito on the floor. Kaito dodges a strike when he is against the ring post so that Dyer hits the post and hurts his arm.

Kaito rolls Dyer into the ring, and Dyer kicks the ropes as Kaito gets in the ring, and then hits the Dyermaker for two. Dyer works over Kaito in the corner and then hits a short-arm clothesline. Dyer takes his time with the beatdown to rile up the crowd. Kaito gets a series of quick blows on Dyer. Dyer then chops him down and covers for two. Kaito is whipped to the corner, where he goes up and over to the floor.

Dyer rams Kaito into the apron. Kaito is able to get a few blows, but Dyer stops him with a strike and then a shot to the back. Kaito is rolled into the ring, and Dyer covers for two. Dyer gets a back suplex and then grounds and pounds Kaito. Dyer yells at Kaito to get up, and when he does, nails him in the head with a right hand. Kaito lays in chops, and Dyer stops him with a kick and a whip to the corner. Kaito avoids a charge in the corner and gets a clothesline, and both men are down.

Kaito gets a series of dropkicks to Dyer’s leg. Kaito is whipped to the corner, where he gets a shoulder tackle to Dyer and then a dropkick from the top. He charges at Dyer, who gets a scoop suplex and a brainbuster for two. Dyer puts Kaito on top and joins him there. Kaito fights off the suplex and gets a series of uppercuts to knock Dyer down. Kaito leaps into a chokeslam backbreaker from Dyer for two.

Dyer goes for a chokeslam, and Kaito gets a knee strike to free himself. Kaito gets a running leaping knee and then a tilt-a-flip for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kaito Kiyomiya

Dyer attacks Kaito after the match, and we are told Kaito is knocked out as Dyer hits End of Days on him.

Sam Leterna hypes the upcoming MLP weekly series, and Rohan Raja comes out and says he should be awarded the MLP National Championship. He gives a poem for his promo and goes over how he carries the company and beats everyone and will win the interim title tonight.

Daisuke Sasaki vs. Bryce Hansen – No DQ

Sasaki comes to the ring with a steel chair. He swings the chair at Bryce and misses, and Bryce gets a series of kicks and tosses Sasaki to the floor. He rolls Sasaki into the ring, and Sasaki tosses the chair into Bryce. Sasaki grabs another chair and wraps it around Bryce’s head and runs him into the ring post. Bryce is rolled into the ring, and Sasaki goes to the top for a leaping lariat.

Sasaki wraps the chair around Bryce’s head and gets a DDT for two. Sasaki pulls out a kendo stick and a table from under the ring and shoves them into the ring. Sasaki sets the table in the corner. Bryce is able to get a clothesline after they trade blows. Bryce is able to get a Spicoli Driver for two.

Bryce pulls out a second table and sets it up at ringside. He tries for a powerbomb on Sasaki from the apron, and Sasaki goes to the eyes to stop him. Sasaki puts Bryce on the table. Sasaki goes to the top, and Bryce joins him there. They fight on the apron, and Bryce gets a Doctor Bomb from the apron to the table, but Sasaki misses the table. Bryce rolls Sasaki into the ring for two.

Bryce tries for a strike with the kendo stick, but it hits the ropes and bounces back to his face. Sasaki crotches him with it and then spears Bryce into the table in the ring, but it doesn’t break. Sasaki does it again, and the table finally breaks. Sasaki takes the chair and goes to the top. He drives the chair into the table that covers Bryce for the pin and the win.

Winner: Daisuke Sasaki

Seeing a no-DQ weapons match that wasn’t a bloodbath or over the top was refreshing. I liked this match.

Sam Leterna is with Stu Grayson, who says he thrives on the pressure involved in the title match tonight. Evil Uno shows up and pumps up Stu by going over how great he is and that everyone knows he is the best wrestler in all of Canada and a champion.

The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson), MLW Tag Team Champions vs. Sheldon Jean and Brent Banks

Banks and Karl start the match by tying up and going to the corner. Karl breaks clean, and they lock up again. Karl forces them to the corner, and Banks reverses. Karl reverses again and breaks with a chop. They lock up and then run the ropes. Karl comes off the ropes with a shoulder tackle and then a chop in the corner. Karl lays in more chops and tags in Doc, who also lays in chops.

Doc hits a long, stalling suplex. Doc drops an elbow, and Banks tries to roll away. Doc whips him to his own corner, and Karl tags in after Doc beats Banks down. Banks gets a headlock and tags in Jean, and Jean is able to work over Karl in their corner. Karl stops him with a chop and then lays in blows in the corner. He slams Jean’s head into the turnbuckle and tags in Doc. Doc gets a fallaway slam. Doc hits a leg drop for two.

Jean gets a jawbreaker and tags in Banks, who is nailed by Doc. Banks gets a dropkick to Doc’s knee and lays in blows. Banks is able to tag in Jean, and they keep the ring cut in half as they work over Doc in their corner. Doc frees himself with a big double clothesline and tags in Karl. Karl works over Jean with a series of back elbows and slams. Karl gets a leaping senton for two.

They run the ropes, and Banks trips Karl. Banks tags in and works over Karl in the corner and then gets a back elbow as Karl comes off the ropes for two. Jean tags in after Banks gets a kick to the midsection. They work over Karl with quick tags. Karl is able to get a neckbreaker on Banks and tags in Doc, who runs wild.

Doc tags in Karl after a leaping crossbody on both Banks and Jean. Banks and Jean go to the floor when Karl dives onto them. Banks is rolled into the ring, where he takes a Magic Killer for two only. Jean breaks up a second Magic Killer. Karl hits a spinebuster on Banks for two, and Doc and Jean go to the floor. Banks blocks a DDT from Karl.

Jean tries to attack Karl on the apron, but Karl gets a big boot. In the ring, Banks nails Karl with the other tag team belt as the ref is distracted for the pin and the win.

Winners and NEW Tag Team Champions: Sheldon Jean and Brent Banks

Sam is with Gisele Shaw, and Shaw says that Pure Wrestling is not pro wrestling, so Deonna Purrazzo winning last night doesn’t mean she will win a pro wrestling match, and she will break Deonna’s arm tonight.

Gisele Shaw (MLP Women’s Champion) vs. Deonna Purrazzo

They lock up and go to arm bars and reversals. Shaw forces them to the corner, and Shaw breaks clean. They then go to waistlocks and headlocks. Purrazzo takes down Shaw and grabs an ankle lock, but Shaw escapes. They charge into each other, and Shaw finally gets a right-hand closed fist to drop Purrazzo. Purrazzo gets an arm bar, and Shaw immediately puts a foot on the ropes for the break.

Shaw goes to the floor, and Purrazzo hits a baseball slide and then lays in chops on the floor. They brawl back and forth on the floor. They return to the ring, and Shaw knocks Purrazzo to the floor. Shaw shoves Purrazzo into the steel steps. Shaw poses for a cheering crowd. She may be a heel, but she IS Canadian.

Purrazzo is rolled into the ring, and Shaw covers for two. Shaw gets a rear arm bar, and Purrazzo fights to her feet and throws blows to free herself. Shaw drops Purrazzo and grounds and pounds her. Shaw works over Purrazzo’s injured arm and then hits running uppercuts in the corner. Purrazzo gets the boot up and then grabs a wristlock to force Shaw down. Shaw works to her feet again and gets a shoulder block into Purrazzo’s injured shoulder. It turns into a Greco-Roman knuckle lock, and Purrazzo breaks free by using her injured shoulder into Shaw’s head.

Both women are down and slowly get to their knees and throw hands as they work to their feet. Purrazzo gets a pair of clotheslines and a running knee lift. Purrazzo tries for the arm bar, but her shoulder gives out. Purrazzo gets a short-arm clothesline for two. Purrazzo tries for a piledriver, but Shaw blocks it. Shaw runs Purrazzo into the corner, hits a series of strikes, and then an anarchist suplex for two. Shaw grabs an arm bar, and Purrazzo rolls through for two. Shaw gets a spear for two.

Shaw looks confused as to how she can get the final shot on Purrazzo and then puts Purrazzo on top. She joins her there and lays in closed fists, and Purrazzo is able to reverse it and put Shaw in the tree of woe. She hits a series of kicks to Shaw’s back and then charges into Shaw for two. She grabs an arm bar on Shaw, and Shaw gets to the ropes for the break.

They go back and forth trying to pick each other up and then fight on the ropes. Shaw gets a full nelson backbreaker for two. She covers again for two. Shaw grounds and pounds. Purrazzo gets a punch from below, and they start throwing hands until they both sink to the mat. They get back to their feet and throw hands again—slower this time—but it speeds up. Purrazzo runs into a back elbow, then gets a big boot, but runs into a kick from Shaw. Shaw pulls the referee into Purrazzo’s kick, and the ref is down.

Shaw runs Purrazzo’s shoulder into the ring post and then whips her arm repeatedly around the post. Shaw puts Purrazzo’s arm between the steel steps and the ring and kicks the steps. Shaw puts a foot on Purrazzo’s chest and poses, but Purrazzo grabs an arm bar and then gets the Venus De Milo. Shaw gets one arm free. Shaw taps, but the referee is out. As they break, the referee gets up. Purrazzo’s arm is hurt, and the ref checks on her as Shaw puts on brass knuckles in the corner. Shaw hits a right hand with the knuckles for the pin and the win.

Winner and STILL MLP Women’s Champion: Gisele Shaw

Michael Oku vs. Jay Lethal vs. Stu Grayson vs. Rich Swann vs. Rohan Raja vs. Jonathan Gresham – Elimination match for the Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling Interim Canadian Championship

Lethal and Oku start the match. Oku gets a quick roll-up for two, and then Lethal does the same. They trade quick roll-ups back and forth—a nice, fun sequence. They throw hands in the middle of the ring, and Lethal is dropped to his knee. Oku comes off the ropes into a chop. Lethal goes for a Lethal Injection, but Oku turns it into a backslide for two. They fight through the ropes on the apron, and Oku dives onto Lethal on the floor.

Oku rolls Lethal into the ring and goes to the top, but Lethal knocks him to the apron, where he gets a neckbreaker. Lethal wraps Oku in the ropes and dropkicks the leg and calls for the count-out.

Oku returns to the ring at nine, and Lethal kicks his knee. Lethal mounts and pounds Oku. He works over Oku’s leg and then covers for two. Lethal grabs a rear headlock. Oku works to his feet and fights free. Lethal dropkicks Oku’s leg again. Lethal stomps Oku and goes to the top. He leaps and is caught when Oku puts his legs up. Lethal goes for the figure four, but Oku gets a small package for one. Oku goes to the corner and gives up the leg when Lethal charges. Oku gets a dropkick from the top, but his leg won’t let him follow up.

Oku blocks a blow from Lethal and drops him. Oku blocks another blow and gets a series of strikes into a DDT for two. Oku tries for a half crab, but Lethal kicks free and hits a Lethal Combination. Lethal gets a figure four and trash-talks Oku. Lethal pulls Oku away from the ropes. Oku powers out with his arms and applies a half crab on Lethal. Lethal rolls through and kicks Oku off, and Oku’s head hits the top turnbuckle.

Lethal pulls Oku to the top with him, and they fight up there. Lethal chops Oku down, and Oku hits a superkick when he lands. Oku climbs back up, and Lethal drops him to the mat. Lethal hits a Hail to the King elbow, but Oku catches him and rolls him up for the pin and the elimination.

Jay Lethal is eliminated, and Rohan Raja is next.

Raja gets a leaping front neckbreaker for the pin, eliminating Michael Oku. Rich Swann is next.

Aurora, Raja’s valet, grabs his feet, and Raja hits a swinging sidewalk slam for two. Raja then applies a leg-capture rear-naked choke. Swann gets a front stack for two to break the hold. Swann hits an avalanche hurricanrana off the top for two. Raja rolls to the floor, and Swann hits a cannonball dive from the apron.

Swann calls for a chair from the crowd and sets it up, putting Raja in it. Swann then runs around the ring to gain speed for a big boot into Raja. He hits it a second time. On the third attempt, Raja counters with a big kick. The match returns to the ring, and Raja goes to the top but leaps into a superkick from Swann, and both men are down.

Swann gets a series of jabs and then a neckbreaker. Swann hits a frog splash for two. Swann picks up Raja, who escapes out the back and grabs a sleeper. Swann gets a jawbreaker and then a neckbreaker for two. Swann goes to the top for a 450 splash for two. Swann goes up again, but Aurora gets on the apron, allowing Raja to roll out of the way. Raja hits a short-arm elbow, a backstabber, and a flatliner for the pin and the elimination.

Rich Swann is eliminated, and Stu Grayson is next.

Raja bails to the floor and stalls. He is busted open over the eye and at the hairline. Stu finally goes outside after Raja breaks the count again, and they throw hands. Raja is rolled into the ring, and Aurora grabs Stu’s foot, allowing Raja to get a two-count with a handful of tights. Stu gets a Pele kick and hoists Raja. They fight through the ropes, and Aurora gets on the apron in front of the ref—she is ejected.

Raja returns to the ring, and Stu hits a running high knee and the Nightfall backbreaker for the pin and the elimination.

Rohan Raja is eliminated, and Jonathan Gresham is the final entrant.

Raja nails Stu in the back with a chair as Gresham waits on the ramp. Raja passes Gresham and tells him, “You’re welcome,” as Gresham enters the ring. Gresham checks on Stu before removing his jacket and shaking his hand.

They lock up and trade headlocks. They shake hands again and transition into arm bars and waistlocks. They shake hands again after another break. They continue exchanging holds. This is excellent technical wrestling.

They lock up again and run the ropes, with Stu getting the first shoulder tackle and then a roll-up for two. Stu hits a tijeras and sends Gresham to the apron. Stu sweeps the leg and then hits a leaping senton over the top rope onto Gresham on the apron. They return to the ring and trade chops, but Gresham’s have little effect. Gresham removes some wrist tape, drops it, and while the ref is distracted, chops Stu low. Gresham hits a PK.

Gresham works a series of holds on the mat and pins for two. He continues targeting the arm with technical precision, including a Rings of Saturn variation. He stretches Stu and transitions into near falls.

They trade counters and submissions. Stu escapes and attempts a suplex, but Gresham blocks it. They spill to the floor and return at nine. Stu rallies with suplexes and a springboard moonsault for two.

Gresham responds with submissions and near falls, including a crossface. Stu reaches the ropes. They exchange strikes while Gresham maintains control of the arm. Gresham hits an enzuigiri and multiple German suplexes for near falls.

Gresham applies an octopus stretch, but Stu powers out and hits a superplex. Stu follows with a running knee and the Nightfall backbreaker for the pin and the win.
