Spotlight Match: Brian Morris vs Eye Black Jack
Morris looks ten pounds lighter this week. Whatever COULD have happened??? Morris tries to run this match with typical Ranch swagger but Jack ain’t having it and overpowers Wonderboy for a lot of this. Morris has to resort to a choke over the top rope to get into position to drop bombs into Jacks face. Big cross body and a knee drop doesn’t keep Jack down. He rages back and stomps a mud hole in Morris. Powerslam sets up the uranage…Morris slips it. Jack goes for the AA but Morris rakes the eyes and hits a butterfly facebuster for the win. Boooooooooo!
Tonight is the “season finale”! It’s been a whole year of Wrestling Open RI! And next week, we start another!
Match 1: Laynie Luck, Notorious Mimi & Kylie Alexas vs Lili Ruiz, Lady Leigh & Corinne Joy
Hell of an opener to highlight the crazy good WWR+ show from last night. Kylie is the ONLY heel in this match (I think? Mimi has been back and forth) and her partners do NOT like her tactics. Mimi and Laynie working good as a unit to stay on top of their opponents after a rough start. Kylie sent flying and crawls out of the match entirely. Laynie is left to the wolves. Mimi makes the save! Luck with a DVD to wipe out Leigh and Joy! Lili fights them both off! Mimi with a bridging pin and gets the win! I guess Kylie won?
Laynie has words for Mimi. She calls her next level. And she has news for Mimi from WWE ID and Evolve foreman Timothy Thatcher. She’s getting an ID contract! Mimi starts opening weeping that she’s been dreaming of the moment she could have another chance in WWE’s system. Laynie says that she wants to defend the ID Women’s Championship against her in Las Vegas! Mimi agrees and immediately attacks Luck. “I’ve been here before and this is my REDEMPTION. It starts with YOU.” And she absolutely MAULS Laynie around the ring. Awesome segment.
Why is DJ Powers on the stage? He says that Ryan Clancy’s knee needs more time to heal. So DJ is taking his place tonight in the 6-man.
Match 2: Kylon King vs Bobby Orlando
Mama Bears vs Miracle Generation is gonna be wild when it happens. Bobby isn’t here for goofs…he takes it RIGHT to Kylon. King is having a hard time until he tosses Orlando over his head right into the buckles. Hard slaps and disrespect from Kylon until Mom gets back into the fight. Sunset flip powerbomb…Kylon pops back up but eats a blue Thunder for two! Superplex from King! Kick out! Kylon with a big German…he pulls Orlando up for the kill but a sunset flip rollup catches him and Bobby gets the three!!!
It’s time to see who BRG picked for his third against the trio of IWTV champions. Oh my god….Rain Conway has joined them and they don’t look THRILLED but they are allowing it. I am over the moon for this. Krule vs Raine has been my 2025 most requested match. For reasons.
Match 3: Simply the Best (BRG & Oxx Adams) & Rain Conway vs Krule, Davey Bang & August Matthews
Bang and Matthews spend the early moments staying well on top of BRG and Rain. Brett WANTS Oxx in there but Rain keeps tagging back in. Adams finally gets in there and eats some great offense from the tag champ but he just starts throwing people at people (even using rain as a blunt instrument). Krule just standing on the apron with murder eyes. Rain tags himself in AGAIN and BRG is furious. Matthews escaped the clutches of Conway and gets Krule in there….HERE WE GO! Krule just being a murder machine. BRG crushed. Oxx sent over the top and the tag champs fly out after him. Rain with a defiant slap to Krule before eating the match ending Chokeslam. BRG could save this but he doesn’t want that fire anymore after yesterday. Oxx & BRG drag Rain to the back to face justice for f***ing their match up.
Brando Lee is up on the stage. He calls Ryan Clancy’s injury “convenient”. He promises that Ichiban WILL catch up with him to take the Wrestling Open championship.
Match 4: DJ Powers & The Verdict (Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise) vs The Shooter Boys (Aaron Ortiz & Anthony Vecchio) & Corey Duke
Just like Clancy last week, DJ & The Versict are all looking down at Corey Duke being in this position! He proves himself against Vinny and DJ after a LOT of hazing but Bryce is a force that takes all three of them to send him to the floor. Here comes DJ and Scalise again and the gameplan is clearly to keep the former Open champs out of the match and beat up this Cowboy. The Shooters finally get in there and Bryce has to stop them from killing DJ. Ortiz in the crosshairs but he kicks out of Bryce’s black hole slam! Duke tries to make the save but Ortiz eats another big combo. Vecchio breaks up the pin! People flying from everywhere! Bryce has to save DJ from Duke! Big dive party to the floor everyone brawls except for DJ, who looks dead. It’s a trap! The rollup fails! Duke tries one back! Duke finally hits a scissor kick and with no one to save him, DJ takes the pin! HUUUUUGE win for Duke!
Main Event: Cappuccino Jones(c) vs Starboy Charlie (for the WWE ID Championship)
Starboy Charlie is making a hellllll of a debut in tonight’s main event against the WWE ID champ! If he beats Jones, he’s not only the champ…but he’s officially ID’d! Jones bowls Charlie over early and young boys him. That puts a fire under his a** and he does a 450 wristlock toss off the top?!? Charlie is flying high and reckless….Jones catches a sliced bread attempt and dumps him over the top. The champ stays on Starboy and tries to stretch him to submission. Jones goes for a Frogsplash but eats mat. Charlie up to throw hands…he’s back in the fight! He matrixes out of a lariat and a Pepe kick finds the mark! Jones with a corkscrew neckbreaker for the near fall! “Think you’re getting ID’d?!?” Says Jones! Starboy with a poisonrana and a brain buster….kick out! Crowd is getting into this, it was a slow burn getting here cause both these guys aren’t as known here. Charlie misses a shooting star and Jones goes for the kill. Starboy crumbles with a running right. Charlie pele kicks Jones off the top! Handspring dive to the floor! Starboy Charlie hits a shooting star splash to the back! He pins Jones…1, 2, 3!
WE JUST CROWNED A NEW WWE ID CHAMPION! Jones does NOT want to hand the belt over but he comes to grips with the L, relinquishes the strap and holds Starboy’s hand up. Welcome to the ID program, Starboy! Cranston gives them an enthusiastic Both These Guys in respect of the effort shown here!
Charlie on the mic. He thanks Jones for the fight. He talks about seeing all his friends getting signed but not him. He was frustrated because he’s been grinding. But now he’s the champ and he wants EVERYONE to bring that smoke.
