Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs Corey Duke
At 2-0, so Rain is on an unstoppable winning streak. He’s got a big head for this winning thing and he’s ready to take on a cowboy we LIKE. Tonight’s winner gets entered into the #1 Contenders Fatal 4-way. Rain is too busy taunting. flexing and bragging and he telegraphs the rainmaker finish way too hard and Duke reverses it to a scissor kick for the three. The streak is over!!!
Match 1: The Verdict (Bryce Donovan & Vinny Scalise w/ Smart Mark Sterling) vs Shooter Boys (Aaron Ortiz & Anthony Vecchio)
I like the new team name for Bryce’s crew. If Bryce thinks this is gonna be easy work tonight, the Shooters have other plans. Donovan and Scalise are getting overwhelmed…so of course they get Ref Gina nice and distracted before blindsiding Vecchio with a dropkick as he tries a dive and then Bryce intros him into the post for good measure. Cranston is unhappy about this. They play keep away with Ortiz until he can finally get the hot tag. The numbers game is working against them though. Ortiz gets tossed off the top to the floor. Bryce hits a black hole slam but Vecchio kicks out! Bryce and Vinny might be Create a Pro OG’s but the Shooter Boys are former Open tag champs! Vecchio eats a doomsday chokeslam! Ortiz makes the save! Vinny with a punt to Ortiz. Vecchio comes in for the kill and tries to suplex Scalise…Sterling pulls the leg and holds it down with Ref Gina misses the interference and counts the three! Booooooo!
Match 2: BRG (w/ Oxx Adams) vs Big Bacon Brad Hollister
Last Thursday, Brett begged out of a match with AZ. Think he actually wants to tangle with Bacon, less than a week after he captured the Wrestling Open Tag titles with Love Doug? Actually….he does! He wants to show how him and Oxx deserve shots at the those tag titles. Bacon is out here solo tonight though. Hollister chops BRG to hell and back, this is crazy unearned confidence from Gosselin if he thinks he stands a chance against Krule on Sunday. Oxx tries to be a distraction but Brad used to run this playbook and easily dodges the attack of opportunity. Brett gets some offense in but Brad is steamrolling him. Brad’s arm is starting to give out and he hits a one arm powerbomb. Crazy. He goes for the tornado jackhammer but Oxx Adams comes in, chokeslams Bacon and gets BRG DQ’d.
Match 3: RJ Rude vs Bobby Orlando
Bobby is looking for a rebound after losing the Wrestling Open championship less than two weeks ago. RJ Rude, with none of his groupies around, is a good stepping stone to get our Mom back on track. “You’re nothing without the belt!” yells Rude as he actually is winning this contest for a good portion of it….and then He starts talking on the mic again. Orlando back into the fight. A sick trick cutter starts the rally. Rude tries to take it back with a moonsault but he whiffs and Bobby hits the dab elbow drop for the three!
Bobby apologizes for not being able to get the job done against Clancy. Eye rakes and Shortcuts aside…Bobby has to own the loss. He needs to take some time to see if he should even be here anymore. Cranston does NOT like that.
Match 4: Bear Bronson vs Dustin Waller
Waller cost Bear and Orlando their shot at the tag team titles a few weeks back. This is the receipt. Dustin comes through the curtain and Bear is right there behind him. Waller sees the scene on the monitors and knows he is in DEEP trouble. He tries to run, Bear drags him back. This is a beating in the entryway. Did the bell even ring??? Waller trying to hang but ends up chopping the post. The crowd getting their jollies as Bronson just pummels Waller and drags him back into danger like a horror victim. Bronson finally throws Dusty into the ring and comes in to actually start the match? Dusty with a cutter over the ropes! I think the match is officially going as Rich Palladino calls the five minute mark off. Dusty trying to keep the heat on but Bronson just shrugs him off. Waller with a reversal of the chokebomb….Bear hits a black hole slam. He’s going for the fire thunder driver as Kylon King runs down to save Dustin, drawing the second DQ of the night. King grabs a chair, he’s looking to pillmanize the neck…Bobby Orlando makes the save! I guess he didn’t have to think THAT long. “I’m not going anywhere! My purpose is to fight for these people and to fight for my friends!” Miracle Generation may have outsmarted the Bear tonight…but they’ve made enemies for life.
It’s time for Fancy Ryan Clancy to come out here and gloat about winning the Open championship, making him the first ever 2-time champ. The reaction was pretty split in Worcester…and tonight is feeling the same. Maybe even a little hotter. “For everyone who called me a whiner, I have one question. Who’s crying now?” He’s ready to blow past A-Game in Worcester on Thursday. But who is gonna step up in Cranston? Who will win the 4-way? Clancy refuses to give up on his friendship of Ichiban. He calls out his “friend. He tells Ichiban there’s only one result if Ichiban wins: Clancy says he’ll walk out and get counted out. That’s how much he values Ichiban. He’s not gonna fight him. Clancy sticks around in the audience while the main event goes down.
Main Event: DJ Powers vs Ichiban vs Corey Duke vs Brian Morris (#1 Contenders match for the Wrestling Open Championship)
Well that’s a heck of an announcement. Clancy made a point to especially put down Corey Duke in his promo and while Duke is making his entrance. It’s definitely a dark horse kind of entry here. Speaking of horses, I guess Brian Morris IS cleared to wrestle??? This turns into more of a tornado tag match as Duke and Ichiban are clearly fighting DJ & Morris. At least, as long as no one tries to get the pin while the other is watching. Morris accidentally decks DJ and the alliance might be over. Duke and Ichiban use this to their advantage! Ichiban sends them both to the floor and flies out after them! They are all going for it, I think I just saw Ichiban hit a cartwheel destroyer!?? Duke fires up on Morris, crowds hit for it, Fancy still mocking him. Morris and DJ try to steal the pin from each other. Ichiban hits the Ichi Bankai! He stares down Fancy who reminds him about the wasted time he’ll be creating. DJ and Morris fight over stealing the pin on Ichiban…Duke with the rollup and gets the win!!! He did it! Clancy looks AMUSED as he enters the ring to face down his challenger.
