MY EXCITEMENT FOR WRESTLEMANIA IS RISING, PUNK-REIGNS ARE AWESOME, THE OPENING ANGLE OF RAW WAS OFF THE CHARTS AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2026-03-18 10:00:00

Some questions after last nights' RAW:

Was that a hot opening or what?  That segment was absolute perfection.

That was great, great stuff.  Rollins.  Heyman.  Brock.  Then Oba!  I loved it.  Oba vs. Brock should be, as Jim Ross used to say, bowling shoe ugly, and I can’t wait.  This time last year I was losing interest for WrestleMania by the week.  This year?  It’s the exact opposite.

I know folks get down on Brock and feel he's been overused/overpushed, but watching him decimate all the masked men was awesome.  He laid them all out with ease, and the Femi drops him with a powerbomb.  And Brock sold it like a gunshot.  It was perfect.

Brock destroying the masked men is what made the angle even better.  He showed that he was a monster and then got laid out with one move, putting Oba way over.  I also liked that Seth took Brock’s attention for a second, allowing Oba to get him. Great stuff.

I believe he'll be sorely missed when he retires.  NO ONE has an aura like him.  Thoughts?

I respect what he has done and the aura he has.  I can’t say he will be missed because the cupboard he will leave behind is pretty well stocked at this point, but I get what you are saying.

What's your best guess as to who Randy Orton was talking to?

To me, it comes down to his dad or Ric Flair.  I hope it’s Cowboy Bob Orton, especially after the comment about there being more than one royal family.  Flair would be OK, but Bob would bring a cool, new element.  I hope it’s Bob.

Another tremendous exchange between Punk & Reigns.  Reigns was great getting in Punk's head and being very dismissive of all his criticisms.  So now Punk is on the defensive so to speak, as he lost his cool first.  I'm guessing you enjoyed it?

I loved it.  I thought it was great and there are a lot of ways that they can go with.  As my boy Mike Eps said, what if Punk did it on purpose to make Roman overconfident?  His arrogance has always been his Achilles heel.  If not, they will go in some direction.  I look forward to it because the program has been great so far.

My only critique, and it's minor, was Reigns calling Punk old.  If Roman was in his early/mid 30's, fine.  Punk is 47, but Roman is soon to be 41.  That's not a big age gap in my eyes.  But, I digress, just splitting hairs.

I get it but you also see it mainstream sports all the time when they younger guys bust the old vet’s chops about age.  It was, however, an interesting thing to be the trigger for Punk to strike first.  I want to see where it goes.  That’s the difference between this year and last year, I am invested in where the stories go.
