Did anyone think Drew really quit? Or that he wouldn’t be back later in the show? These “I quit“ angles have lost any meaning.
They are definitely overdone, for sure. That is the kind of angle that should be done far less often and at some point the person that quits should actually stay away for a little while.
That spot with Zelina Vega was scary…..wow.
It seems like we say that about spots more and more.
Was the Randy Orton turn really needed? I figured there’d be enough juice to the match given the participants and their history.
It wasn’t needed per se, but I think it was a good call and an excellent angle. I thoroughly enjoyed it and want to see where Randy takes it. Mike Eps and I talked at length about why we enjoyed it and all of the layers that it encompassed.
Do you think WWE is/was worried about how the crowd will react at WM and went with the turn to ( hopefully ) ensure Cody gets cheered? Cody got booed when Aldis introduced him, and once the initial shock of the turn wore off, people were chanting for Randy.
I definitely think that played into their decision making. Cody has been hearing boos for a while now and I think they could have helped alleviate that by not putting the Title back on him, but Paul Levesque doesn’t care what I think. Cody is being overfished to some of the fans now and the best thing that they could do is take him out of the Title picture for a while and make the people organically want to see him win it again. And yes, people were indeed chanting for Randy. To the people who didn’t want to see Cody crammed into the Title picture, Randy will probably be the face to them.
I joked with a buddy that Randy is one of those guys now that could burn down an orphanage and people will still cheer him. I think they have an uphill battle ahead of them with this one, and I’ve a gut feeling the crowd may still be split at WM. What say you?
He is, for sure. People don’t want to boo him. They want to sing his song and cheer for him since they know he is much closer to the end than to the beginning. WWE did something similar when they turned Seth Rollins. It comes across as stubbornness to me. A booker shouldn’t force the crowd to do something that they don’t want to do unless they have a great way to make them do it. We will see what happens with Randy.
So the Bellas are suddenly in line for a tag title shot because they say so and without winning a match of some sort? Yeah, that makes sense.
Raw and Smackdown have been better on the whole lately but that segment was brutal. I have nothing against The Bellas, but they shouldn’t be forced into Title pictures. at this time.
