1 - Yuto-Ice, OSKAR, Drilla Moloney and Daiki Nagai vs. HENARE, Great O-Khan, Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young
Akira pins Nagai after hitting a Fireball.
2 - Aaron Wolf, Satoshi Kojima and Masatora Yasuda vs. Don Fale, Chase Owens and Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Owens hits the C-Trigger, followed by the Last Testament on Yasuda and gets the pin.
3 - Yuya Uemura and Tomoaki Honma vs. Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji
Tsuji pins Honma after a Gene Blaster.
4 - Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Tatsuya Matsumoto vs. Callum Newman, Jake Lee and Zane Jay
Lee pins Matsumoto after hitting the Face Break Shot.
5 - Boltin Oleg and Toru Yano vs. Dick Togo and Ren Narita
Yano pins Togo with a cradle after the referee was distracted.
NEW JAPAN CUP 2026 Matches (Round 2):
6 - Yujiro Takahashi vs. Shota Umino
Takahashi comes out with the baseball glove that Umino gave him the night before. They have been telling this story that Umino is reminding Yujiro of their time playing catch when Umino was still a child.
House of Torture interferes in the match. Takahashi hits Pimp Juice on Umino. Two count. Umino fights off all of House of Torture by himself. Umino hits Second Chapter on Takahashi.
Umino pins Takahashi.
Shota Umino advances in the tournament.
After the match, Umino puts the baseball glove on Takahashi's chest and bows to him. Umino bows to all the fans of Aichi.
This is the proper way to build a babyface. Overcome all the odds and show the fans love and respect.
7 - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ryohei Oiwa
Good match. ZSJ and Oiwa train together so it shows in the match. Both look evenly matched. ZSJ kept going for submissions. Oiwa used his power moves. They trade stiff shots and near falls. ZSJ avoids another Grip and reverses into a Zack Driver.
ZSJ pins Oiwa.
Zack Sabre Jr. moves on to the next Round to face Shota Umino.
The Quarterfinals begin on March 15 with the upcoming matches:
Yuya Uemura vs. Shingo Takagi
Boltin Oleg vs. Ren Narita
Hirooki Goto vs. Callum Newman
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Shota Umino
At this point in the tournament, if New Japan wants to build the new generation, then Yuya Uemura, Ren Narita and Shota Umino makes sense. Oleg already has the NEVER and STRONG titles. Newman is a possibilty but I see him building himself up more in the G1 Climax later this year.
