Some questions after watching RAW:
1. What did you make of the Punk/Usos segment? I thought there were a lot of layers there, but overall, I felt the Usos were in the right. Punk insulted family, and got punched in the mouth for it. I thought it was a great hook to tune in next week.
I want to see where it goes for sure. The Usos had a right to be angry but I also think that Punk’s character had a point as well. Roman said that he hated Punk and totally degraded him before Punk fired back with the line about Sika. Roman also disrespected Dusty Rhodes, who Punk felt the same way about as Roman did about his dad. If this was real life, and I was Punk, and friends with The Usos, I would have expected them to stay out of it since it’s a fight between two people that they are close with, but it’s not real life. Plus, it seemed like Punk was about to apologize for what he said before The Usos came out and demanded it. If it's me, if someone demands that I apologize for something, I will tell them go f*** yourself.
2. Oba Femi/Rusev; about what I expected, two beasts knocking the crap out of each other, but zero doubt as to the outcome. Did you find the crowd a little quiet? Maybe just waiting for Oba to do his set-up moves and finisher, which they did pop for. It just didn’t feel like the showdown it should have. Thoughts?
I did think the crowd was quiet, but that has been happening more and more lately for a lot of the segments. In this case, I am with you. There was no doubt who would win but they have to have those kinds of segments to build Oba up, and watching two big dudes throw hands was fun. If Oba answers Brock Lesnar’s challenge last week I think the fans will go nuts.
3. With Judgment Day finally imploding, I’m happy that at least it wasn’t “Heel gets kicked out of group, now we cheer him”. Balor had been showing a change of heart, giving us a reason to root for him prior to the angle. Do you think they should have dragged it out longer?
I think they could have done a little more with Finn standing up more for doing things the right way before the beatdown, to lay more clues it was coming, but at least in this case it wasn’t like when the JD turned on Edge. I think they need to still take Finn on more of a journey to being a face, owning up for some of the things that he has done and talking about how the Punk matches made him see he was on a bad path, or something along those lines.
4. Do you see Judgement Day adding new members, or do you feel the group has run its course and this is the start of the final fracturing of the stable?
I don’t think that they should add new people at this point. I want to see the interactions now thattherer is a leadership void and see how they all interact since they will all probably want that role for themselves.
5. Danhausen is quickly growing on me. And the crowd saying “You….are cursed “ along with him shows me he’s getting over. Have you guys gotten any feedback from anyone in WWE as to how they feel about him?
I have heard that they love him and selling a ton of merch will do that for a character. I will say this, when he was thrust on us in AEW I had no idea what a Danhausen was, and AEW did nothing to enlighten it to me. WWE is doing a good job of explaining what the character is, to the point that he is starting to grow on me as well.
