Demolition, Bill "Ax" Eadie and Barry "Smash" Darsow will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next month. They will join Stephanie McMahon and AJ Styles as being inducted in Las Vegas over Wrestlemania 42 weekend.
The Demolition team was created in the late 1980s, originally with Eadie and the late Randy "Moondog Rex" Culley, with Darsow quickly replacing Culley as Smash. With a great Rick Derringer created theme song and a post-apocalyptic aesthetic of black leather and spikes, the duo quickly went from being seen as a Road Warriors knockoff to a legitimately iconic duo in their own right. Initially debuting as heels managed by Mr. Fuji, they later turned babyface during a feud with The Powers of Pain. Until 2016 when New Day surpassed them, Demolition were the longest reigning WWF Tag Team Champions of all time, holding the belts 478 days over three reigns.
During their time in the WWF, they feuded and worked with The Hart Foundation, The Brain Busters, The Rockers, Strike Force, Ken Patera & Billy Jack Haynes and many others. Late in their run, Bryan "Crush" Adams was added to the duo. The team they were obviously based on, The Road Warriors came to the WWF in the early 1990s as The Legion of Doom, allowing for a short feud before Eadie exited and Darsow was eventually re-christened in a singles role as Repo Man.
Eadie, beyond Demolition, had a long career as Bolo Mongol, The Masked Superstar and The Super Machine. As Superstar, he challenged Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan for the WWF/WWWF title. Eadie and WWF later had a falling out and when the company was owned by Vince McMahon, Eadie sued them over the rights to the Demolition name, a civil case that dragged on for years before being resolved. They were considered persona non grata when the company was owned by Vince McMahon, but it's a new regime and company now.
Darsow, beyond Smash, was the aforementioned Repo Man in the WWF, The Blacktop Bully in WCW and Krusher Krushev in Jim Crockett Promotions, among other variations, as and performed under his own name. Each of them had excellent runs over the course of their careers under multiple characters and each released books over the last year.
The Undertaker informed Eadie and Darsow in this moment released on his Instagram:
