Just finished watching Smackdown, so of course I have thoughts & questions.
1. Trick Williams - Great to see him head to the chamber, adding some new faces in there is making the match more exciting to me. Given the crowd reaction with lots of cheering and the chanting, do you see him as guy that the fans might turn babyface, and that he’ll have fight a little to make them hate him?
I think it’s just a matter of time until they can’t help but turn him. The fans love him. If it’s me, I book him as a cocky guy that doesn’t overtly cheat like a heel does. That way, it may just be that the fans keep getting behind him and they already have his babyface character set.
2. Orton/Black - MUCH needed win for Black, and Randy is Teflon at this stage of his career. Do you think Black can be slotted into an upper card/occasional main event guy or has that ship sailed?
I will have to go to the magic 8 Ball, who said, “Reply hazy, try again later”. It could go either way.
3. Orton selling - how good is he? His body movements, facials, everything. He looks like he’s legitimately in pain. I always held out Ricky Steamboat and Ricky Morton as two of the greatest sellers ever, but Randy has just gotten so good. Where would you rank Randy in that particular category?
Randy is awesome, he really is. He gets it. I don’t do rankings but Randy is an amazing, all around pro wrestler, that’s for sure.
4. Do you think they’re looking at turning Charlotte heel? She seems to be following the “frustrated babyface“ playbook - accidentally eliminates Bliss at the Rumble, takes a tough loss in the triple threat. I’ve always assumed her and Bliss would feud at some point, but I’m also warming up to Charlotte as a babyface. Or maybe it’s a red herring and nothing happens, or Alexa turns. Your opinion?
They could be but I hope it’s a red herring. I like that she is getting to be in this role. She was enjoying being a babyface when she got hurt. Her and Alexa are fun together and I like that a lot of the time it’s like she’s the little sister of the group.
5. I know you had mentioned previously about a possible triple threat at WM with Cody/Drew/Fatu, but are we seeing the beginning of a fatal four way with Orton in there? I like not being sure, though.
We could be, for sure. I honestly don’t know but i do like wondering. When there are a lot of logical roads that they can go down, the business is more fun for me.
