AEW Dynamite is live from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA. The commentary team is Excalibur, Bryan Danielson, and Tony Schiavone.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring to talk to Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland after their miscommunication and pull-apart brawl last week. Tony runs down the issues between the two and asks Swerve what is going on. Swerve says five years ago, Kenny was on top of the industry and was the AEW Champion. Everyone was trying to get to AEW and in 2022, Swerve joined AEW. And when he gets to the top, where is Kenny Omega? Swerve says Omega pops up here and there, but with Kenny in the hospital or suspended, Omega seems like a false prophet.
Swerve says that with Omega being gone, the congregation is looking for a new prophet, and the choir is singing about Swerve’s house. But with Omega back, it feels like he’s using his EVP power to be in the title picture. Swerve says he beat the last EVPs last summer and if Omega uses his power, Swerve will put him down.
Omega says he never called himself the God of Professional Wrestling, the fans gave it to him. The fans did it and they know if they see a Kenny Omega match, they know it will be the best. Omega says he takes their belief as an honor. It may be Swerve’s house, but if Swerve questions Omega, the lights are on in that house. And if that house needs to be burned down, he has a friend with experience in that.
He is climbing the title ladder because of his talent, and if not for Swerve, he'd be in the title match at Revolution. If Swerve wants the match, he’s got it. He challenges Swerve to accept or yield.
Swerve says Omega is scared as his generation is lapping Omega’s generation. Omega says the most dangerous man in AEW is not Swerve, it’s Brody King. Swerve says if he wants to fight, Swerve will put him back in the hospital bed.
Kenny slaps him and Swerve takes off his jacket. Swerve attacks and they fight in the middle of the ring, and then to the ringside area. Omega tosses Swerve over the barricade and they fight into the crowd. They fight to the entrance ramp and toward the stage.
