I've seen a lot of chatter online (not here of course) about how Sami losing at the Rumble means he'll "never be taken seriously as a top guy," "they missed out on their last chance to push him" etc. It seems like a lot of people are missing the big picture. Drew had to win, obviously. Sami doesn't fit into the main storylines at the moment.
People that understand the business, like you, knew that Drew had to win. Sadly, a lot of supposed experts don’t understand how the business works. Sami can absolutely get a chance as a top champ down the road. And even if he doesn’t, as I always say Roddy Piper was never the champ. Not everyone that deserves it gets a run with the belt.
More importantly, Mania is in Saudi Arabia next year... wouldn't it be a logical thought to heat Sami up all year, keep Drew champ, and have him finally beat Drew for the belt in Saudi where he's massively over?
If they are going to put the belt on Sami, that would be the perfect place to do it, for sure.
What do you think the significance is of AJ Styles putting his gloves back on after his retirement match? Does it signify that he intends to continue his wrestling career in another company? Was it to tease an appearance in the Royal Rumble match? Or was it simply just to do his signature pose one last time?
He said on the Stephanie McMahon podcast that he wasn’t sure why he did it. He did also say that almost no one really retires and he mentioned that his middle son is thinking of getting into wrestling and said he would love to do a tag match with him if that happened. So, we shall see.
Watching the Bellas promo on Raw got me thinking. When AJ Lee cut the promo saying that talent was not sexually transmitted, was that scripted or did she have heat for it?
I did not hear that she had any heat nor would I expect that she did. She was a babyface going after a heel and she had a great line.
