Former WWE President Linda McMahon, WWE President Linda McMahon, now The U.S. Education Secretary had another planned visit to a school as part of The U.S. Department of Education's "History Rocks!" tour canceled - this time in Mobile, Alabama.
While a previous news advisory did not list the actual location of the visit, AL.com reported that they were told the visit was canceled after plans for a student protest outside Murphy High School were announced. AL.com's reporting noted, the cancellation was made "amid ongoing concerns about the Trump Administration’s focus on eliminating diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and what critics describe as whitewashing difficult chapters in U.S. history." The school was described in the article as being a predominantly black institution.
This would be the second known cancellation for a McMahon school apparance. Last week, an appearance at McKinley Elementary School in Connecticut was canceled after push back from concerned parents. Within hours of the visit being announced, Fairfield Superintendent Michael Testani relayed that McMahon's visit had been canceled following phone calls and emails from upset parents. "A lot of the students here need the special education services that the secretary of education tried to stop," parent Jill Alward told Bronx, NY's News 12. "Hearing she was coming here and going to be celebrated was quite unfortunate." The Department of Education issued a statement to CTInsider.com, blaming left-wing politics on that cancellation.
