2/2 WRESTLING OPEN: RHODE ISLAND LIVE REPORT

By Adam Cardoza on 2026-02-03 10:26:00

Wrestling Open RI

2/2/26 Cranston, RI

It feels like an eternity since I’ve been here. In reality only a few weeks. There’s a fairly massive grudge match tonight between Bryce Donovan & Bear Bronson so I think that’s gonna be a banger. For now, it’s spotlight time.

Spotlight Match: Eye Black Jack vs Grayson Pierce

Last time I saw Grayson here, I mocked him as a more useless Hunter Drake. Tonight, I think he looks like Rain Conway with better fashion sense. Jack starts hot but Grayson posts him a couple of times and taunts his while he works that shoulder. Jack finally returns the favor, Pierce eats the steel, a powerslam and a Frogsplash and that keeps him down for the three. Fun little opener.

Match 1: Fancy Ryan Clancy vs Jake Gray

I love Jake but it’s highly likely Clancy is going to take a lot of frustrations out on the Handyman. Clancy with some easy takedowns and just disrespecting his opponent. Gray is getting mad but Ryan is in full control. The crowd booing but Clancy is just beating Jake to a pulp. Jake escapes a count out at 9 and goes on the attack with a series of rollups. He tries a dive off the top but slips up. Clancy plants him with a KO dropkick to get the three.

Jake is frustrated at his this went and kicks the trash on his way out. Clancy looks like he might get some mic time but here comes Ichiban & Brando Lee! Lee says Ichiban is worried about how angry Clancy has been and he wants to know why Clancy sucker punched him. Clancy says that he is done with all of us and shoves Lee to the mat. Brando is done with talking. Next week, they fight. But tonight, Lee has DJ Power and he has a mic too? Oh god. Powers trying to drive a wedge between Ichi and Brando since Ichiban might still have loyalties to Clancy. Powers tries to keep talking but Lee pops and unloads

Match 2: Brando Lee vs DJ Powers

Powers gets mad at the early damage and starts booting Lee in the head. Powers is truly one of the most unlikeable people we have and he is leaning into it hard tonight. Lee stunned with a cradle driver slows him down. Brando still hitting some quick counters and launches himself to the floor at DJ. The rolling DVD doesn’t end things so Lee starts pulling from Powers’ playbook of vicious stomps. A moonsault misses entirely. Powers with a pair of superkicks and a spear almost ends the night for Brando. DJ tries a top rope stomp…Lee dodges, rolls him up and stacks it…he gets the three!!!

Powers tries to attack after the bell but Ichiban cuts him off. “ITS NOT FAIR!” Yells Powers.

Match 3: Tiara James, Notorious Mimi & Amity Levay vs Liviyah, Shannon Levangie & Corrine Joy

I kind of like this trio where you have an angel and a devil on Tiara’s shoulders? It’s all evil charisma on that side of the ring. Shannon gets beat up for most of the match until Liv tags in hot. James finally enters the contest to stop Liv from pinning Mimi. Mimi tries to save Tiara from retribution but gets rolled up by Liv for the win. Corinne Joy got knocked off the apron at one point but I don’t remember her ever being IN the match? Liv says Tiara and her are finally having a one on one match in 2 weeks. I dunno. We’ve been promised that before.

Match 4: Dustin Waller vs Rickey Shane Page

RSP is sick of Dusty and would like to give him a beating. Waller uses Ref Scott as a shield and take advantage of the distraction, beating Page down while mocking everyone. He keeps trying to put his stupid durag on but Rickey cuts that nonsense off. He hits that big back drop kick and a Frogsplash but Waller is someone not dead. Waller hits a lethal injection and a Frogsplash to the back that he’s been working all match to get the three. Booooooo!

Waller on the mic. He’s sick of these booooooo’s but they aren’t gonna STOP him. So keep booing, he’s just gonna keep winning.

The Stetson Ranch has an Open challenge tonight for their tag team titles. They were supposed to fight StarStruck but AG isn’t here. Who’s gonna answer the call? It’s Big Business’ heavy hitters, Brick City!!!

Match 5: Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson & Brian Morris) vs Brick City (Victor Chase & Julio Cruz)

Welcome back Brick City! They charge the ring and the fight is on! Morris is kicking out of a frog splash before he even gets his ring jacket off! Stetson with a kick from the apron and Julio starts feeling the full power of the Ranch (and their designated ranch hand). Cruz gets the beatdown for a minute before Chase gets the tag! Morris almost eats a business is booming before Casale provides a distraction and Stetson pulls Cruz out, leaving a stunned Chase to get rolled up for the three! It’s great to see Brick City back in the mix and definitely want to see them around more.

Main Event: Bear Bronson vs Bryce Donovan (w/ Vinnie Scalise & Smart Mark Sterling)

Donovan has promised to rip Bear’s heart out and eat it. He wants to kill Wrestling Open. He feigns sending Mark & VSK to the back. Of course he won’t do that. He needs his goons to fight a bear. As a status check, Bronson still has that Opportunity Knocks contract…but he also just signed a TNA contract! The crowd does believe that Bear will be the one dining on raw meat tonight. Bryce tries to get in Bear’s head but he quickly realizes he needs his boys to run interference if he has a hope and a prayer. Bronson runs him over and sends Donovan to the floor over and over. He grabs a chair and takes a small meeting with his friends while Bear stares a hole through them from the ring. Bryce tries to hightail it out of there after talking it over but Bear gives chase and pulls him back into the fray. Donovan and Bear brawl around the ring as Ref Scott  keeps count. It’s a pretty fired up crowd for this! Scalise distracts again and Bear eats an apron DDT that almost gets Bryce the count out. Bryce landing big shots as Mark and Scalise continue to distract and take cheap shots. Bryce keeps Bear grounded and hurting through all of this. The mistake comes when he gets Bear on his feet…here’s the seated senton. Here’s the powerslam. Bryce is hurting! Bronson reverse Bryce to hit his own black hole slam! Mark pulls Bryce out of harms way and he hits his own Black hole! Bear shoves off another chokeslam attempt. They go toe to toe until a double clothesline gives us a pause in the action. Sterling throws his arm brace in for Bryce but Bear steals it. Ref Scott catches it! Low blow! Bear kicks out! Ref Scott knocked out! Scalise with a top rope elbow! Ref Scott with the slow count…Bear kicks out! The turnbuckle pad is off! Sterling and Vinnie try to get involved but get knocked off! Bryce bounced off the exposed buckle and eats a sitout chokebomb! Kickout! Bronson calls for the fire Thunder driver….Scalise jumps in and attacks! Bryce gets DQ’d but it’s time for a post-match three on one beatdown…

Cue Bobby Orlando running in for the save with a chair! What a match but boo this ending! Bear grabs the mic and says Bryce brought all that Bs and still couldn’t beat him. Bronson wants a rematch. Sterling says NO. There’s nothing on it for them. What’s their price? Sterling wants the contract on the line next time. Bear accepts on three conditions: 1. The contract is on the line. 2. If Bear wins, he gets any match he wants against Bryce. 3. But the match for the contract is against MARK STERLING.  Sterling begs off because he’s injured. But…Sterling says he’s gonna call on of his AEW friends to see if he can find a suitable replacement. He makes a phone call, gets a yes…and says Bear will be fighting a former AEW World champion??? “Good luck” says Bronson.
