2/2 NJPW ROAD TO NEW BEGINNING RESULTS FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa on 2026-02-02 15:23:00

Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:

1 - Masatora Yasuda, Yuya Uemura and Shota Umino vs. Daiki Nagai, OSKAR and Yuto-Ice

Uemura hits a Dragon Suplex on Nagai, while Umino hits a lariat at the same time.   This move the announcer called The Dragon Riot.

Uemura pins Nagai.

Knockout Brothers and Uemura and Umino brawl after the match.

With this upcoming match, New Japan has backed themselves into a corner.    The Knockout Brothers have a growing number of fans.   New Japan wants to push Umino and Uemura, but the Japan crowd has booed them in recent months.  OSKAR and Yuto need the belts more to continue to establish their growth with less than a year on the main roster.   Umino and Uemura are in a "no-win" situation, meaning if they the belts and are not accepted by the Japanese fan base, that may hurt the tag division.  If they don't win, it will continue a long losing streak for both men, especially Umino who lost to Zack Sabre Jr. at Wrestle Kingdom in 2025 and now is a tag wrestler/utility player.   Umino and Uemura need to do more to establish themselves as top babyfaces, in actions not just words.

2 - Master Wato, YOH, Toru Yano and Aaron Wolf vs. Dick Togo, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, DOUKI and Ren Narita

Wato forces Togo to tap out to Vendaval.

3 - Gedo, Hiromu Takahashi and David Finlay vs. Jakob Austin Young, Francesco Akira and Callum Newman

Akira hits his cradle suplex called Crown Fall on Hiromu and gets the pin.

After the match, Newman and Finlay brawl to the back.    Akira and Young beat down Hiromu after the match.   Young steals Hiromu's jacket.    Akira and El Desperado, on Japanese commentary, get into a brief war of words.

Akira is looking to establish himself as a major player in the Junior Division.

4 - Robbie X, Taiji Ishimori, Drilla Moloney and Yota Tsuji vs. Zane Jay, Great O-Khan, HENARE and Jake Lee

Moloney hits a Drilla Killa on Jay and gets the pin.

After the match, everyone gets into a brawl.  Lee and Tsuji fight into the stands and Lee beats down Tsuji amongst the fans.

5 - Boltin Oleg vs. Hartley Jackson

Oleg hits a Kamikaze on Jackson and gets the pin.

6 - YOSHI-HASHI vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

Good match.   YOSHI-HASHI and ZSJ traded strikes and submissions back and forth.  ZSJ trapped YOSHI-HASHI's both arms in a double chicken wing.   The crowd screamed when ZSJ applied the move.    YOSHI-HASHI had to verbally submit.    ZSJ wins.

7 -  Hirooki Goto vs. Ryohei Oiwa

Goto hits a GTR on Oiwa and gets the pin.

Goto cuts a promo saying he will keep fighting (for his father and the New Japan fans) until he cannot fight anymore.

New Japan World returns on February 11 for New Beginning in Osaka.
