Someone recently asked about the women’s outfits in Saudi Arabia, but wouldn't you say the situation has improved drastically? Initially everybody wore basically long black tights and a long sleeve top and a loose t-shirt. Now they are wearing all sorts of styles, albeit long sleeve and ankle length, without the t-shirt. The gear now looks like gear that some women would wear under normal circumstances. So should people still be hung up on this?
It’s better than it was but I wouldn’t say it has drastically improved. The key to me is when you say what some women would normally wear. That’s the issue some have, that women are treated as being subservient and secondary to men in Saudi Arabia. I think it’s legitimate issue and not nominal, as you seem to think it is. To many of us, women and men are equal and we don’t like them being treated as anything but that.
Is Tommaso Ciampa crazy going to work the AEW style given his injury history?
Honestly? That was my first thought when he showed up on Dynamite. The last place I would go if I had the injury history that he does is AEW. Their reckless style leads to more injuries. I hope he doesn’t fall into the trap of doing the stupid bumps that so many people in that company routinely take. With that said, wrestlers are different breed. They have to be in order to do what they do for a living.
What to do with Ilja? I agree that his booking is really bad right now. He is probably the best worker/seller on the roster and exudes the kind of energy that makes a crowd go wild. I remember his feud in WWE UK with Walter(Gunther) as being a feud for the ages. Their payoff match was a classic. To pair him back with Gunther would be AMAZING!
I have said it before, turn him back into NXT UK Ilja. He’s a character that is a lot better off with less glitz and polish. He excels when he is being Raw Ilja.
Is there anybody responsible for fact checking for the commentary team or do they do their own research? I ask because Michael Cole confidently declared that Becky Lynch grew up two miles south of Belfast, which given my 33 years growing up and living here in Ireland, is quite literally about a hundred miles off.
There is a lot of fact checking done, as Cole has made pretty clear when he talks about history and how people have done in other companies. I think in this case it was just a case of storytelling. Obviously, you knew it was incorrect but to the vast audience it was part of the story that they were trying to tell.
