Wrestling Open RI “Unfinished Business”
12/22/25 Cranston, RI
Spotlight Match: Jake Gray vs Richard Adonis
I’m like 90% sure someone told me that Adonis is a Pete Dunn student. His look definitely feel like an homage. Adonis doing a great job beating on Gray, almost getting a solid pin off a roundhouse lariat to the back of the head. Adonis twisting Jake up and maybe trying to take his handyman powers away. Gray with a comeback and hits a sliced bread in the center of the ring for the ring. Good match. I’ve really enjoyed Gray’s continued rise in profile and skill…but this Adonis kid is pretty damn good. The crowd is filling up quickly and already looks like we are hitting an attendance record for the Monday night habit.
Drew is teasing a big announcement for the next supershow here in Cranston. Let’s see what’s coming? It’s the final Open in RI for the year. Let’s goooooo!
Match 1: Brad Baylor vs Eye Black Jack
Jack has a crazy final two weeks of the coming and it truly starts here, against the former Open tag champ. Baylor must not be watching Open lately because he’s clearly missed the rise of EBJ and seems to be looking past his opponent. Jack? He’s punishing Baylor every time he stops to taunt…which is often. After a powerslam almost puts Brad away, Baylor seems to be taking this more seriously, going toe to toe with Jack. He looks to finish things off but he opens his mouth to yell “Swipe Right” and Jack rolls him up for the three! Mission accomplished!
Match 2: Jose Zamora vs Big Bacon Brad Hollister
Zamora got himself disqualified last time these two clashed. Can he actually finish the fight victoriously this go around? Bacon is VERY ready to kill this kid. Zamora tries to run and Brad immediately catches him. Zamora is telling the chat he’s cooked as Bacon throws him across the ring. Brad continues pummeling him on the floor. The crowd loves it. Zamora launches Brad throat first into the middle rope and turns the tide. Zamora puts a hurt on but Bacon rolls away from the slingshot leg drop and fires up. Jose tries a rollup but Brad deadlifts him into a Bacon bomb for two! Brad grabs Jose’s body cam for a little bit of retribution and it almost costs him a rollup…Hollister goes for the tornado jackhammer…sensing the end, Jose blasts Brad in the head with the camera and gets DQ’d yet again. Bacon clotheslines this kid to the floor. He grabs the mic and promises that in TWO WEEKS, he is going to smash that camera in Zamora’s skull SOME HOW.
Match 3: Tiara James vs Shannon LaVangie (w/ Liviyah)
Tiara blindsided Shannon last week before their match that never actually happened. It’s time for justice to be served. Tiara comes out first…perhaps to prevent shenanigans? Shannon charges the ring and attacks James immediately! LaVangie has her set for the finish and Tiara tries to split. Liviyah meets her at the entryway and says nooooo. Shannon right to the floor and all over Tiara. James finally catches her getting back in the ring and hits a hangman ddt. It’s a bad night for taunting as Tiara can’t get out of her own way and sets up Shannon to hit that missile dropkick. A series of headlocks and a bulldog set up the finish….but Tiara rolls out of there. While ref Gina is talking to Shannon, James slams the apron and makes like Liviya attacked her. Gina has no choice but to eject Liv…and in the chaos, Tiara rolls Shannon up and gets the three. Boooooo!
Tiara says she’s gonna take them both on next time? Does Tiara still have friends?
Match 4: Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson & Brian Morris w/ Bobby Casale) vs Mythical Ones (Brando Lee & Ichiban) (for the Wrestling Open Tag Team Championships)
Of course the Ranch brought an extra hand. Brando starts well but Ichiban gets tripped up in the numbers game and beaten up. Finally we get the tag to Brando and they start making up for lost time and damage. Lee with a style clash to Morris for two! Bobby starting to look worried for his new employers. Again, the numbers game strikes and Lee gets double teamed on the floor while Gina is caught up with Brian Morris. Lee with a long beatdown but Ichiban gets the tag and launches himself to the floor! Huge crossbody to Morris! Wonderboy blocks the Ichibankai! He tries a 619 but Stetson rips him off the ropes and send him into the post. High Low attack from the ranch! Ichiban kicks out! Lee with a rolling dvd to Stetson! Double dives but Morris makes the save! Morris eats the Ichi Bankai! Flying chop to Stetson! Bobby Casale interferes while Stetson distracts Gina…which sets up the North Jersey Lariat to get the pin and I hate it but the f***ing Ranch retains.
Rain Conway is out here. He says he was supposed to “beat up” Ben Bishop. But he has that dog in him. Here comes BRG. He’s in a sling after his defeat to Landon Hale down in Georgia a couple of weeks ago. BRG fires up Rain and gives him his props. But Conway is not the animal he needs to deal with Bishop.
Match 6: Big Trouble Ben Bishop vs Oxx Adams (w/ BRG & Rain Conway)
It’s been a few weeks since BRG’s hired gun realized what a crap deal he had with Simply the Best…But it’s time for a big ol’ Kaiju fight! Bishop is taller…but not by much. Both guys trying to take the other off their feet and do some heavy stuff. When it’s clear that Oxx can’t do it on his own, BRG cause a distraction and Adams hits a chokeslam! More distractions, Rain gets some shots in. World’s strongest slam to Bishop! Bishop finally catches Oxx with a black hole slam…Rain hits the ring and attacks! Oxx is DQ’d! And then Oxx and BRG leave Rain to face the wrath of Ben. A huge side slam sets up and very high angle chokeslam and Rain Conway is dead and we love it. I came to see Rain Conway get beat up. Success!
Main Event: Fancy Ryan Clancy(c) vs Marcus Mathers vs Bear Bronson (for the IWTV Championship)
We are here at the end. Will Clancy walk into Heavy Lies the Crown as Champion? Will Bear Bronson get the title he has been chasing for months? Will Mathers regain the belt he lost? Emotions are high for all of this. It’s crazy to realize Bear Bronson could walk into his TNA Championship match as IWTV king. Bronson has his Opportunity Knocks contract with him. It’s still in play. Clancy is VERY split with the Cranston crowd. Bear and Marcus may be competing in this match against each other but they both enjoy beating on Clancy…until they get in each others ways and it’s all on. Clancy throws his robe in Bear’s face and it’s clear the crowd has turned. Bear and Mathers pummeling the champ through the crowd. Marcus with a crossbody the room kick wipes out both his opponents! An angry bear tries for a double stack slam but Clancy slips it and convinces Mathers help him hit an indytaker. The champ is in Marcus’ head and Bronson is getting double teamed to death. Granted, all three of these guys have issues with the others but they all seem a little shocked as they briefly join forces in these spots. Clancy tosses Mathers after he killshots Bronson but he can’t get the job done on the big bear. Bronson back up and destroying both guys. Bear with a suicide dive to the floor! The crowd is fired way up for this. Mathers and Clancy work together again to superplex Bronson! Clancy finally starting to snap on Mathers, going back to the ears they had previously over the IWTV belt. Clancy with a dropkick! Bear makes the save! Clancy tries to beg off a very angry Bear. Fancy escapes the Fire Thunder Driver and hits the side Russian! Marcus with a superkick! 450 to Bear and he almost snags the victory! Mathers is furious at ref Gina! Clancy and Mathers fighting it out Bear recovers and double chokeslams them! Only a two on the double stack pin! Mathers also escapes the FTD! Big dive party to the floor! Clancy and Marcus trading positions…Marcus with a tombstone to the floor! Clancy apron bombs him! Everyone is down as we hit the twenty minute mark. Clancy and Marcus roll into the ring and look horrified at the screens as they see Bear coming from behind with a door. Bronson tries to kill Clancy but the champ leapfrogs and Mathers goes through! Dropkick connects! Bear kicks out! Clancy runs for the IWTV BELT! He’s primed to swing. The crowd booing! Bear ducks and Marcus eats it! He tries Bear again but eats a black hole slam! Fire thunder driver to Marcus connects and he gets the three as Clancy sits up in time to see the three come down! What a great finish!
The crowd pops huge for this! Bronson is attacked from behind by a masked man with a pipe wrench. Clancy tries to help Bear? No. He kicks him in the junk. The masked man is revealed…it’s Vinny Scalise?!? He says he has unfinished business with Bear and in two weeks, the worst is yet to come. What???
Wild night for the biggest crowd in Wrestling Open RI’s first year. They cheer the new champ back to his feet as he is left alone in the ring with his new belt. Bronson comes to and recognizes he’s in the middle of the most pivotal month in the most pivotal year of his entire year. He was a kid watching wrestling twenty years ago with his dad. And he thanks his dad now because he encourages Bronson to pursue his dream. He tells the kids at ringside that if they have a dream…they can do this. He puts over Open management for catching him when he found himself back on the indies. They let him be HIM. He thanks his wife Gabby Forza for staying behind him.
But now I have to ask: Gabby Forza had an IWTV championship match on New Years Eve. But Bear is slated to fight Krule in a Fans Bring the Weapons match that night. So is Krule challenging? Do the Savage Gnomes explode for one night only? That’s a question for later. For now, Bear Bronson is our new IWTV champ!
