Becky Lynch is obviously parodying Donald Trump with her rhetoric mimicking the President. Is that something WWE should be doing?
Sure, why not? Wrestling can be topical and honestly, she is being subtle enough that it's not egregious. She has been amazing since her turn.
With the AEW Continental Classic once again rolling along, we're getting the usual bevy of matches just being thrown out on TV with no build that could easily be PPV matches with some build. I mean, we're getting Claudio v. Moxley next week; that could have meant something. Do you know of anyone in AEW who has Tony's ear that could actually talk to him about his booking and get him to hit the brakes and think things through a little better? And I guess I'd have to leave out some of the usual suspects whom he might listen to, like the Bucks. I don't see them as folks with brilliant booking savvy.
There are people that have influence with Tony, for sure, but at the end of the day he books what he likes. He grew up reading a newsletter that glorified tournaments from Japan, which led to these kinds of a matchups, and it’s what he likes to see. I agree with you, he burns through matches that could mean so much more if they were built to properly.
Have you guys ever spoken to anyone in the company who just shakes their head when it comes to Tony's handling of the booking or know of ANYONE that's tried to talk to him about it ?
I talk to people that share our frustration about the booking but they have come to accept that is just how Tony is. They can’t really do much with Tony about it because he is the boss and he doesn’t see any problem with what he is doing.
Who do you think becomes a world champion first, Je’Von Evans or Ricochet? Though Evans is a terrific high flyer, have you noticed there’s something special about him vs. other good high flyers? I feel Evans can really become a franchise player for WWE - in a way I hoped for Ricochet - but never thought he could achieve in WWE. Your thoughts?
Since I don’t hold the pencil I can’t say who a booker will make champion first. With that said, there is something special about Evans, for sure. He’s very young and is being trained under the NXT/WWE system. That gives me hope that he will see that there is more to pro wrestling that just doing spots and he can evolve into a well rounded, complete pro wrestler. Ricochet was largely the finished product when he came to WWE. He likes to work the way that he likes to work, which is certainly his prerogative. But that approach to the business won’t get you to the top in WWE while it very well may in AEW.
