ALL SIGNS ARE TNA WILL ANNOUNCE NEW CABLE HOME TOMORROW

By Mike Johnson on 2025-12-02 00:34:00

TNA is expected to announce they have secured a weekly time slot for their flagship series, TNA Impact, premiering Thursday 1/15/26 on AMC.  The expectation is that the premiere will emanate from Dallas.

PWInsider.com can confirm the company has a conference call set for 9:45 AM with their talent roster, where it is expected they will unveil the news.

AMC appears to have teased TNA earlier tonight with the following tweet:

The cable network, perhaps best known for The Walking Dead juggernaut and the incredible Breaking Bad, has never previously hosted professional wrestling programming.    It is owned by The Dolan Family, which also owns and controls Madison Square Garden, The New York Knicks and The New York Rangers.

TNA did not return a request for comment, but all signs are that a deal has been secured.

When TNA premieres on AMC, it will have a new home that puts the company before a potential 60 million cable homes.  The belief and hope within the promotion for many years has been that when the company landed on a stronger platform, it would lead to greater awareness and success for the company.  This move would be the largest, most high profile platform TNA programming has appeared on dating back to their exit from SpikeTV at the end of 2014.  TNA's current home, AXS TV is believed to have 30-35 million potential homes, but is not currently carried by several top carriers, including Cablevision and Verizon Fios.  AMC will be a massive jump forward.

TNA was launched in June 2002 as a weekly Wednesday night PPV event, but shifted to monthly PPVs supported by Impact Wrestling as a weekly series that premiered in May 2004 on The FOX Sports Network.  After a year on that platform, the promotion's deal expired.  As they worked to find a new home, they shifted Impact to a streaming series until then-President Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett and Dave Sahadi secured a deal with SpikeTV, which at the time was losing WWF to The USA Network.

TNA premiered on Spike in 2005.  The Network was a strong partner for TNA for many years, expanding the series to two hours in October 2007 while also fronting the bill for some of the higher-priced talents and financially assisting with overseas tapings.    In 2010, TNA and SpikeTV moved the series to Mondays opposite WWE Raw, which didn't work out well but certainly brought TNA some attention as names like Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall appeared.  The series returned to Thursdays with a third hour, titled TNA Reaction, added to the series.  Spike opted not to continue the series, which departed the Network at the end of 2014, after issues regarding what the network would be paying going forward.  They made an offer but TNA management pushed for a larger payday.  In response, Spike decided to move on.

Impact Wrestling moved to Discovery Communications' (now WBD) Destination America but failed to hit the contractual benchmarks that would have allowed the series to be automatically renewed.  In a weird deal, allegedly brought on by Discovery being unhappy with the promotion, Destination America brought Ring of Honor and placed it before TNA.  It effectively diluted the ratings and prevented Impact from hitting its benchmark.   The series was gone at the end of 2015 and immediately, the network also dropped ROH.

TNA moved to the Pop Network, overseen at the time by current CW Network President Brad Schwartz, in 2016. In 2017, Anthem acquired TNA legally after calling in its marker regarding money loaned to the promotion, effectively switching ownership positions with Dixie Carter.  In 2018, the series was moved to Anthem's Pursuit Channel, moving to AXS TV when Anthem acquired a majority stake in the cable station.  Since that acquisition, Impact has been a regular cornerstone of AXS programming, but since the network is so sparsely viewed compared to more prominent broadcasters, there have been swaths of time where the overnight audience wasn't even publicly reported.

The chase for a new TV deal featured TNA negotiating with a number of outlets.  PWInsider.com broke over the summer that both A&E and The CW Network had conversations with the promotion.  In October, word began circulating backstage that AMC was talking with the promotion.

The new deal is certainly a celebratory moment for the company but also a moment where they have to now deliver what they have promised and hoped for all along - a bigger audience that empowers the company upwards.  January 15, 2026 kicks off a new race for the promotion to run....but first, we have to get to the official announcement, which all signs are, will be tomorrow.
