MARKO STUNT'S ANNOUNCEMENT, RAY SANDERS CHALLENGES FOR THE TITLE AND MORE: MEMPHIS WRESTLING THANKSGIVING THROWDOWN REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2025-11-27 10:30:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's Memphis Wrestling Thanksgiving Throwdown report, as it aired on WMC-TV in Memphis as a special.

They opened with highlights of recent developments with Memphis Wrestling Women's Champion Nikki XS losing her title to Diana Taylor.

Taylor arrived at the Memphis WrestleCenter and she was met by Ray Sanders, who is challenging for the Memphis Wrestling title today.   He congratulated her on her title win.  Taylor said today is his day and he's the hero Memphis Wrestling needs.

They aired the opening video, featuring a lot of guest stars from recent shows including Joe Hendry and Violent J of ICP.

Marko Stunt came to the announcing table and was interviewed by Dustin Starr.  No one will ever accuse Starr of never having a ton of energy.  Stunt said it's a full circle moment for him because Memphis is where he got his start.  He said he was one of those kids who probably never should have stepped in the ring but he chased the impossible dream.  He said he made it to national audiences on AEW TV and met some of his best friends in The Jurassic Express.  That leads him to his announcement.  He said that due to his injuries piling up, he is officially retired from pro wrestling.  However, he spoke with Memphis Wrestling legend King Cobra and he has acquired a manager's license and is now officially part of Memphis Wrestling.  Starr welcomed him to the home team.  Stunt said he has a few potential people in mind to manage, so he's going to watch the next match on commentary.

Bobby Ford vs. Chris Lexx.

They battled back and forth, reversing arm wringers early on.  Ford hit a crossbody for a two count but Lexx nails a heel kick, followed by a spinebuster.  Ford battled back but Lexx nailed a clothesline for a two count.  Stunt, on commentary, said Lexx helped him a lot when Stunt was breaking in.  Lexx nailed some hard chops.  Ford made a comeback with some chops of his own.  Lexx drilled him hard into the buckles for a two count.  Ford came back to nail a flying elbow for the pin.

Your winner, Bobby Ford!

The  Muddy Waters, tag team, RJW and Gio Savage.cut a promo and showed some charisma.

Big John Dalton came out to the announcing desk.  They acted like this wasn't a scheduled occurrence.    He asked for K-Toomer to come out.  Starr said they didn't want a fight.  He said Toomer was the master of Fatjitsu.  Dalton said he wanted to apologize to Toomer and said he was wrong for their previous issues and asked him to be his partner.  Toomer said the last time they were in the ring, he was mad and he wanted him to be mad.  He wanted Dalton to feel his anger.  He doesn't want to team with friends but with brothers.  He said they can run the market together and they embraced and hugged.

Sevyn Cruz vs. CJ Blaine.

Blaine showed some likable charisma coming to the ring.  He controlled early but got distracted.  That allowed Cruz to attack and nail several kicks in the corner.  He booted Blaine in the face.  Cruz sat on the ropes and choked Blaine from behind.  He showed some good cockiness.  Blaine returned with a big kick and hit a rana off the ropes.  Blaine overcame some more information and hit a leaping knee for the pin.

Your winner, CJ Blaine!

Short but fun.  Blaine has some nice charisma.and you can see the potential in him.  Cruz was a good heel foil for him.

Zay Washington was on the phone with Justin Cane.  They were obviously conspiring.

Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Hollywood Clique came out.  They are scheduled to defend against The Bizzness Dawgs.  Their manager Jimmy Blaylock said Dutch Mantel once told him to never trust promoters with bad hair or beady eyes and Dustin Starr was both.  He said the Dawgs have no chance to win the titles.

Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Hollywood Clique vs. The Bizzness Dawgs with Xya Wolf.

The Champs attacked Lil Homie before the bell and double teamed him.  Tim Grind tried to intercede but the referee stopped him.  Wolf was very good in the babyface corner cheering them on.  Homie broke free and made the hot tag.  Grind threw some big right hands and lariats to clean house.  He backdropped Kale.  Grind went to the ropes but Blaylock nailed him a cane across the back.  Wolf jumped Blaylock as they went to commercial.  It was still going on when they returned and in the chaos, Homie rolled up J Smooth for the pin.

Your winners and new Tag Team Champions The Bizzness Dawgs!

The Slaughterhouse faction came out and stared down the new champions.  They all started brawling.  Slaughterhouse got the better of the fight and left the champs laying.  New feud set up.

Cobra Cup holder Tim Bosby.was interviewed.  He offered to enter a handicap match to get his chance to make Vachon Harvey tap out.

The Bizzness Dawgz were recovering from the attack.

They aired a video feature on the main event.

Slaughterhouse cut a promo demanding they get the match they want against "The Monsters" of they will destroy everyone they come across and it doesn't matter if it was in the ring or someone working the concession stand.  I got some Moondogs vibes here.  We can only hope they can be that chaotic given the Moondogs' history in Memphis.

Memphis Wrestling Heritage Champion Sycho Simon vs. Ray Sanders - No Rules

Derrick King, who has a long history with the promotion and wrestling in the area, joined the announcers.  He retired after a loss to Simon, who has beaten Crazy Steve and Justin Credible as well this year.

Sanders hugged several family members as he made his way around the ring.  He's absolutely the favorite here.

Sanders went right after Simon.  The crowd was all over the champion.  Sanders went to whip him into the corner, but it was reversed.  Sanders flew out of the corner with a big clothesline.  Simon went to the floor.  Sanders hit a tope suicida to the floor.  They batted towards the front door, where Sanders was hit with a trash can.   Simon grabbed a chair but Sanders nailed him with a right and took the chair.  Sanders drilled him over the back.  He went to the "box seats" and dove down to Sanders.

The challenger brought him back to the ring but Simons grabbed him and tossed Sanders through the ropes into the squared circle.    Simon moved the ring steps and came out with a screwdriver.  He wanted to use it but the referee stopped him, allowing Sanders to attack.  Simon drilled him and sent Sanders to the mat.  Simon placed several chairs on the mat and set up for a piledriver on the chairs.  The announcers said the match was banned and not even allowable in a No DQ match.  They declared the match a no contest.  King hit the ring to make sure Sanders wasn't attacked further.  The announcers noted Simon could be facing being stripped of his title.  King entered the ring as officials checked on Sanders.

They went off the air with everyone, including King Cobra and Dustin Starr trying to get Simon to leave as the crowd chanted "Simon sucks."

So, they went with an angle to close the show.

As always, it's a lot of younger talents getting reps, so your mileage will vary.  The show is well produced and edited and it keeps the legacy of what was the Saturday morning wrestling gospel on WMC-TV going, so hopefully they get additional chances beyond today and their planned Christmas special with Jerry Lawler.    I watch a lot of wrestling but this hour was fun, as long as you remember it's a lot of talents very early on their journey trying to find their way.
