Over the weekend, PWInsider.com heard from fans upset over reports that WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg had walked out of a convention and turned down the opportunity to handle a scheduled private signing.
Whle Goldberg did pass on signing items, the initial reports (which portrayed Goldberg in a negative light) did not paint the entire picture of the situation.
PWInsider.com can confirm the following is the actual situation, contrary to initial reports elsewhere:
*Goldberg was brought in as a headline guest by Tom Under's Big Event EXS convention in Brentwood, Long Island.
*Goldberg appeared, as scheduled, for five hours, signing and taking photos with fans.
*Goldberg then did a private signing for Unger for fans who had sent items in.
*When that was done, Goldberg left for his flight to return home to Texas.
Where the initial controversy was, is that another vendor, K&S Wrestlefest, expected that Goldberg would also be doing a private signing for them and solicited items from fans. Unger, on the Big Event Facebook page, clarified that Goldberg was never contracted to do that, writing, "No [Goldberg] wasn't. He signed for the fans for 5hrs straight. Ken [The vendor in question] wasn't guaranteed anything. I told him if we had time 'we would get your items done.' He shouldn't be posting this all over like the victim. This was my deal and my customers come first.. [Ken] Shouldn't take mail order from all you not knowing if it was going to get done."
Under then clarified that Goldberg was not contracted to sign for the other vendor, who had initially made the public statements, alleging that Goldberg walked out and refused to sign the prepared items and said, "This shouldn't be too complicated to understand."
No word whether the inaccurate reports surrounding Goldberg will be corrected.
The next Big Event gathering will be March 2026.
