I think you've said before that refs should count what they see, but wouldn't it depend on the situation? In the case of Nia Jax the ref should have because the right person was pinned plus it was basically the end of the match. But what if it's the wrong person, e.g. with Damian Priest and Gunther. If they count what they see, that would create a whole lot of issues. Is it worth the risk? And would the ref be in trouble in that case?
If the refs are told to count what they see by the boss then they should do just that. If the boss makes that the rule, it’s up to the talent to make sure that they kick out in time in my view.
I had a couple of questions after seeing AEW Dynamite last night. I do want to preface this by saying that I always hope that the company will right the ship and do better. It's another place for people to work, and it brings business to whatever venue/town they run.
1. Samoa Joe/Hangman angle; How rushed was that? That was something that could have developed for weeks, not a 30 second interaction that caused Joe to blow his stack. And someone, anyone, being THAT quick tempered is never a good look. We know Joe is a badass, but that just made him look childish. There were quite a few steps skipped that could have added way more depth to their match.
Sadly, that’s largely what Tony Khan does. He rushes most things in his booking. I wish he would slow down.
2. Darby Allin beatdown - where are the other babyfaces on the show to come to his aid? It's not like Darby is some aloof, pain in the ass that the others don't like. Pretty much everyone has had issues with the Death Riders, so wouldn't someone want a piece of them when the opportunity presents itself like this?
I hear ya. I hate when those kinds of things go unexplained.
3. Andrade; now that he's back, what is really going to change? He's with Callis, who can speak for him, which is good. But he's in an ever growing stable with guys that lose a lot.
I don’t think much will change either. Andrade is really good in the ring but for whatever reason no one can unlock more than that from his character. I hope that changes this time around.
