HOW ANDRADE CAN ALREADY BE BACK WITH AEW

By Mike Johnson on 2025-10-02 09:19:00

Since Andrade el Idolo returned to AEW last night, we've been besieged with questions as to how this could be since it hasn't been 90 days since he exited WWE.

The easy, short answer is that when WWE released Andrade, there was no 90 day non-compete clause.

Multiple WWE sources confirmed to PWInsider.com that Andrade was cut due to numerous WWE Wellness violations over the last year.  We are told that the decision was made to cut Andrade outright, making him free and clear to perform elsewhere.

Andrade had previously been announced for independent promotions in both Mexico and The United States, so it was already obvious he wasn't under any sort of non-compete.  WWE chose to cut him as opposed to paying him another 90 days to keep him from performing elsewhere.

Obviously, this pretty much makes what had been suspected for some time official - that the company is no longer publicly announcing Wellness Policy suspensions for the main roster talents, something that had quietly disappeared over the last few years.
