With WWE receiving an exorbitant amount of money for holding Wrestlemania in Saudi Arabia, far more money than if the event was to be held in the US, and knowing TKO's prioritization of generating the most revenue possible, is there a chance of Saudi becoming the regular or semi-regular home of Wrestlemania going forward?
A chance? For sure. If the first Mania goes well there I see WWE selling to the highest bidder, no matter who that is. Look at how they announced next year’s Mania for New Orleans and then pulled it to go back to Las Vegas. With TKO, money talks and everything else walks. If the Saudis wanted to pay far more than anyone else, I could see WWE starting a residency there. Hell, if the Saudis offered enough money to buy WWE outright from TKO, I wouldn’t be shocked if they sold it. Hell, I would be shocked if they didn’t. That is who TKO is as a company.
Every year, TKO/WWE loves to tout Wrestlemania's record breaking, highest ever profits. When/if Wrestlemania returns to the US after 2027, do you see TKO raising ticket prices for the event to astronomical levels in order to compensate for the inevitable loss of profit they will experience from not hosting it in Saudi?
As I said above, TKO is all about generating as much revenue as possible. That would not surprise me at all. What I wonder is how Mania being in Saudi Arabia will be accepted by the masses. Will it turn off fans who won’t go there? Will it make them ex-fans? There are people out there who won’t watch any WWE show from Saudi Arabia due to past atrocities committed there. I am very curious to see how it all pans out.
When it comes to human rights, there is no price you can put on that but TKO has managed to do just that.
I can repeat, they are all about the money. With that said, a lot of companies do business with Saudi Arabia, not just TKO. And if I am being fair, there haven’t been any atrocities that I can remember recently. I don’t love them going there but I also have to take note that it’s been almost 8 years since the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Again, I don’t love it but I have to be fair.
How disgusting was that press conference? Does anyone in that company have any morals and a sense of what is right and wrong?
WWE hasn’t really done press conferences for a while now. They have become a vehicle that they use to push their shows. That is what Friday’s event was. it was not a press conference.
