Do you think the WWE Creative & storytelling will get any better and some of the matches won't be so predictable going into them? Like I had a strong feeling going into the Sami match he was going to win the Title cause WWE was overseas at the time.
It depends on the situation. You had a feeling and that’s fine. They had been setting Sami up to win a top Title, but he instead won the US Belt. I don’t think being overseas was the primary reason. After all, he was beaten by Roman Reigns in Montreal. I think it’s a case by case basis.
Do you think some of the matches will stop being so predictable going forward? Like which wrestler is going to win the match going into the fight?
Again, like I said above, it depends on the situation. They shouldn’t have someone from the lower mid card beat someone in the upper mid card just to do a Vince Russo swerve. If the plan is to elevate the lower card talent, that’s fine. But they shouldn’t do it just to surprise people with a bad surprise.
I love the fact the WWE is putting out never previously released matches on WWE Vault for YouTube. Sadly, shows without commentary feel half baked and I notice how worked everything is, way more than with commentary - to the point where the novelty is ruined. Do you think commentary serves a 2nd purpose - to divide your attention from noticed how worked wrestling matches are - while maintaining suspension of disbelief?
Commentary is a huge part of the art of televised wrestling, no doubt about it. When it’s done well, it adds so much to what we are watching. I think, when done well, it enhances what we are watching, for sure.
I've noticed the WWE crowd have recently started chanting 'FU *insert superstar name*'. Can you recall when this started? Is it because they're on Netflix that fans think they can get away with it? And what do you think of it? I mean it's supposed to be a family show and there are children in the audience.
It’s been recently for sure, right around the time that WWE started pricing out the kids and more young adult males started buying more tickets. I can’t pick an exact moment but it’s been the last few months for sure. Netflix doesn’t like it either. I doubt WWE does because it leads to bleeping and it hurts the quality of the show. It also makes the brand look bad. I don’t know how WWE can stop it so I hope it just goes away by attrition because it’s low rent and it hurts the viewer at home to have the constant bleeping.
