Thoughts on what Bully Ray tweeted and Ricochet’s response?
For those who missed it, here is the tweet:
Unfortunate, but…
— Bully Ray (@bullyray5150) September 5, 2025
AEW, as a product, is lost.
There’s certainly some bright spots (talent) - but as a company, lacks definitive direction.
Is what it is.
A company owned and operated by a fan with lots of $$
TK - Good guy, good heart, not a booker
And “the boys” know it
My take? Bully has every right to his opinion and I don’t think he said anything egregious. Ricochet’s reaction? It’s what I would expect from someone who defends their boss. I do laugh a bit if Ric really thinks that Bully doesn’t talk to people in the locker room.
Why do some wrestlers get a proper sendoff in storyline vs. others? Ricochet got put out of action to boost Bron Breakker. Yet, Carlito just vanishes, instead of getting kicked out and turned on by the Judgment Day; which would enhance their heel characters? Goldberg gets a retirement match, but Karrion Kross fades away. Kross should have lost a “Loser Leaves Town” match if WWE won’t resign him. Lastly, this baffles me because NXT is actually good at this, where even a small character like Adriana Rizzo’s departure was explained. Please make this make sense!
It depends on how creative wants to do it and the circumstances around it. There is no set way to handle it. For instance, sometimes they decide to not renew a contract. In that case, the talent is gone. In others, they decide if it’s worth it to do a storyline with someone who is leaving. Like with Ricochet, who they knew was going to end up in AEW, they used him for fodder on the way out.
Do we think The Rock can still shoehorn himself into WWE storylines? Or do we think, given how awful the Cody/Cena stuff was, the powers that be might push back the next time he decides to drop in? Fingers crossed his dramatic acting career takes off and preoccupies him indefinitely lol, although that might even make things worse...
Rock can ALWAYS find his way onto WWE TV if he wants to, or if he is asked to. That’s a given. With that said, he is much lighter now and is getting rave reviews for his dramatic work in “Smashing Machine” so that may mean he isn’t coming back any time soon.
Jake Hager complained about his AEW Career. He said John Cena refused to lose against him. He missed a move and Undertaker didn't want to wrestle him anymore. Maybe it's just me, but Hager looked like a jerk in the CVV interview.
I think he thinks a lot more about his talent and place in the business than others do, for sure.
