So let me see if I got this straight, Cena "sells his soul" to the Rock. Rock doesn't show up to congratulate Cena to "congratulate him for making the right choice" at Mania. Friday before an SummerSlam Cena "comes to his senses" and says he made a mistake and after losing to Cody at SummerSlam who shows up, Brock Lesnar? It should have been the Rock. Who came up with this crap?
That would be the WWE Creative Team, and I agree with you, the Cena storylines for his last year has been putrid.
From a storytelling angle I would have to say this was the worst in a long time. Do you agree or can you think of a worse big time main event worthy storyline?
I would say it’s definitely the worst of the HHH era, for sure. They have not maximized Cena’s last run in my opinion.
Is it just me or is WWE's creative nowhere near as good as it was this time last year?
It’s not just you. WWE was humming along through The Royal Rumble and then things went off the rails a bit heading into Wrestlemania. They have gotten better since then but there is still a lot of uneven booking going on right now. I hope that they can get that fixed and get back to where they were.
I saw on WrestleTix that WWE has set up the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia for under 12,000 seats for the August 18 Raw and they still have about a thousand seats available as of August 16. What do you make of that?
It’s interesting, for sure. As WrestleTix reported, they drew 16,810 for the March 7, 2025 Smackdown in the same building, so they are definitely well below that number. As I said above, the creative has cooled down a bit since then. Also, ticket prices have gone way up as well and they are pricing people out. But from their perspective, if they sell 15,000 tickets at an average of $100, they generate a $1.5M gate. If they sell 11,000 at $200, they generate a $2.2M gate. Now, will that last? Time will tell.
