I got to watch WWE: Unreal and I felt it wasn’t as bad as many critics said. It was made for non-fans of pro wrestling that didn't know the business. Over the years, we had shows like Bret Hart Wrestling with Shadows, Beyond the Mat, WWE Divas, and others that had already “exposed the business”. The wrestling business did not lose any fans because of this TV series I believe.  What would you say to critics and fans who had a “meltdown” over this show?

I don’t really search out what other people think to be honest.  There are lot of people who watch wrestling that do so for a different reason than I do.  I have no idea what set them off about the show.  I thought it was interesting and fine for what it was.   They probably wanted it catered to the totally insider type fan, and that would have been a big mistake.  As you said, the show was made for the masses, not the vocal minority.  Then again, many of those same people said that AEW would blow WWE away once fans got to see “great wrestling” that the insider types like so you have to take their criticism for what it’s worth, and that’s not much.

What’s the story on why John Cena’s last match will be held in December, as opposed to WrestleMania 42 for a WAY bigger send off? WM is only 4 months afterwards. Is there a movie conflict?

No, they made it clear at the start that 2025 would be his last year in the business.  They made it clear that WrestleMania in April would be his last one.  That is how they decided to do it.

Did you ever see a wrestling event at a theater/venue through closed-circuit? Or more recently in a movie theater that broadcasts certain events?

I did. I watched the first WrestleMania via closed circuit at The Convention Hall in Wildwood, NJ.  There is no way I would ever go to a movie theater when I can watch a show in the comfort of my own home.

Karrion Kross and Scarlet look like stars. Kross has an intriguing character and can talk. However, I always thought Kross had a lame finisher, bland moveset, and forgettable matches. Big guys nowadays are expected to do more than a basic “giant moveset”. Lastly, I think he was toast after his comeback rivalry with Drew McIntyre was a dud. Do you think his boring matches did Kross in? What do you think of his workrate?

As I said above, I don’t obsess over workmate as it can be more than made up with great character building and storytelling.  Take Jey Uso for example. When he won The Royal Rumble some people lost their minds.  I thought it was the right call.  The fans love him and that is what matters.  He doesn’t need to have matches that the five star insider fans love.  He needs to help fill big arenas on a consistent basis.  Back to the first question, that is something that is lost on the insider types.  Anyway, I think Kross is solid and capable in the ring.  HHH didn’t have a problem with his workmate when he pushed him strongly in NXT.  I don’t know why HHH fell out of love with Kross but I think that the big issue for him was he was never used well.  It’s hard to get over when you always lose.  Plus, they totally dropped the ball with Scarlett, to an egregious degree.  She added so much to the character and they wasted that.

Why are AEW PPV's still not offered on HBO MAX?

Mike Johnson and I talked about that on the show this week.  MAX hasn’t exercised the option to sell them.  Why?  I can’t tell you.
