Thoughts on John Cena turning babyface on Smackdown?
I thought it was lame, which given how badly the heel turn and subsequent run that Cena had as a heel made it perfectly apt. They really wasted five months of his return in my opinion.
I know I’ve watched football games Joe Tessitore has called but damn, he really appears like he’s having fun on Smackdown.
He sure does. He seems to be having a great time and I know that WWE management loves him and the job that he is doing.
When Michael Cole made his entrance at the SummerSlam Kickoff he was greeted with a pop and the fans chanting his name. Do you think there has been a change in opinion about the announcer? This was unfathomable 14 years ago but he’s getting over. Do you think the change in regime helped rehab his image?
Cole has been respected by most fans for a while now. As you said, you were talking 14 years ago! A lot has changed since then. I have said for decades that people who didn’t like Cole were shortsighted. He was doing what Vince McMahon wanted him to do. He couldn’t go off the range and call matches the way that he wanted to. Now, he can, and the world can see how good he is.
If Vince McMahon reached out to WWE/TKO to be part of the tribute to Hulk Hogan - as in standing on the stage like Eric Bischoff, Brian Blair, etc. do you think WWE /TKO would have allowed it?
I honestly don’t know. Personally, I wouldn’t have allowed it if it were my call. He is still toxic due to the Janel Grant litigation.
Did you hear of any communication from either side about something like this?
I did not hear anything about it either way.
