7/31 AEW COLLISION REPORT

It’s Thursday and AEW Collision is live in Chicago IL as part of the residency at Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

We start with Wheeler Yuta tossing a security guard. Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir are here as well. Mox has a mic and is pacing in the ring. Mox says that when he tossed Darby Allin down a flight of stairs, it was a message to get gone. Now Darby is back and is messing with him and his people and he calls Darby out. 

We see Darby on the rail of the balcony and Mox tells him to get into the ring and have a tough conversation. Darby leaves and Mox says they will have this conversation as they go to look for Darby. 

We then get highlights from the title match last night. 

Bandido and Brody King vs Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Leona) - Tag Team Tournament match

Bandido and Kaun start the match. They run the ropes and charge into each other and Kaun runs through Bandido who pops right back up. They run the ropes again and Kaun hits a clothesline. Bandido gets an arm drag, but misses the second. He does get two more, though. Toa tags in and wants Brody, but Bandido gets the crowd to cheer for him and gets a spinning attack that Toa fights off.  Bandido tries a few more attacks off the ropes, to no avail. Brody tags in and they charge at each other.

Toa gets a chop to the throat on Brody, and Brody dumps Toa to the floor. Brody gives a back body drop on Kaun and the tag team siren goes off and everyone is in the ring. Brody picks up Bandido in a casadora and slams him on Kaun for one. Toa pulls Brody out of the ring and Kaun tosses Bandido to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Bandido has been the babyface in peril. Bandido is able to get the hot tag to Brody after working out of a spring slam. Brody cleans house and then tags in Bandido. They do a stereo dive onto GOA. All four men brawl on the floor and GOA is simply getting pummelled around the ring. Toa is rolled into the ring and Bandido gets a frog splash from the top or two, broken up by Kaun. 

Kaun gets a top rope avalanche power bomb on Bandido for two and Brody gets hit by a dive to the floor my Toa. SOA hits a pendulum blast on Bandido for two, broken up by Brody. Brody tags in and hits Toa with a Death Valley driver on the apron. He then puts Kaun on the top and joins him there. Brody gets a super plex from the top. Bandido is sprung onto Kaun by Brody for the pin and the win.

Winners: Bandido and Brody King’

In the back, Lexi Nair is with Dn Callis and Lance Aercher. Don says that Kyle Fletcher’s preparation is for after the match with Dustin Rhodes when he beat him for the TNT Title. Shane Taylor shows asking for his money. Dan says that if Shane takes care for Sky Flight, they can talk money afterwards.

We then get a video recapping the feud between Mark Briscoe and MJF.

Lexi is with Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong are talking about if they are in the Conglomeration, and Roddy feels like he keeps losing his best friend. We then get Willow Nightingale, Hologram and Tomohiro Ishii. Kyle is super excited about the Conglomeration and Roddy seems uninterested. 

We then get a vignette of Mox and the Death Riders looking for Darby , and Darby jumps Mox from behind and drags him into the dark.

Kris Statlander vs The Already In The Ring Lena Kross

Statlander is doing cartwheels (that’s a new thing) and posing after some moves. Kross is able to get a pump kick and a German Suplex before Statlander takes over and shows a forward facing electric chair followed by a new submission hold as Kross taps out.

Winner: Kris Statlander

Willow Nightingale passes Kris on her way to the ring.

Willow Nightingale vs Thekla w/Julia Hart and Skye Blue

Thekla dodges the lock up and they go to waistlocks and Willow shoots Thekla into the corner. Thekla gets a big boot and Willow cartwheels out of the corner and covers for one. Thekla trips Willow and Willow poses with a smile. They jockey for position and Willow gets a shoulder tackle for two. Willow blocks a head scissors and gets a back breaker, followed by a cross body for two. 

They trade elbows and Willow hits a pounce. Thekla rolls to the floor to recover and Willow follows her to the floor. Thekla whips Willow into the steel steps as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Thekla gets an upside down head scissors in the ropes. After they break, Willow gets a pair of clotheslines and then a charge into the corner. Willow gets a shot gun drop kick off the second buckle for two. Thekla gets a big slap and Thekle dodges the return strikes. Thekla gets a right cross on Willow, knocking her into the ropes and Thekla gets a running boot. Thekla tries to charge into Willow on the apron, and runs into a clothesline.

Willow hits a Death Valley driver for two. Willow carries Thekla to the top and drops her. Thekla joins Willow on the top and they throw hands. Thekal gets a super plex and hangs on to hand upside down in the corner. Willow goes to the floor where Hart and Blue are walking toward her holding hands. Thekla dives from the top to Willow on the floor. Willow is rolled into the ring and after taking a punch hits a clothesline on Thekla.

Willow gets the cannonball in the corner. Hart and Blue get on the apron and Willow knocks them down, allowing Thekla to hit a spear followed by a curb stomp for the pin and the win.

Winner: Thekla

After the match, Hart and Blue join with Thekla for a beat down. Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford attack Willow as well. Queen Aminata with Tay Melo and Anna Jay show for the save. Kyle, Hologram and Ishii show up to help Willow. 

Lexi is in the back with Billy Gunn and he is interrupted by Anthony Bowens who says Billy hasn’t been answering him all week. He says he did everything that Gunn taught him to do when he beat Max Caster last week. He says that Billy is not there for him any more. Billy says he doesn’t even know who Bowens is anymore and when he finds himself again to call him.

We get a pre-taped promo from Swerve Strickland mocking the Young Bucks for not being EVPs anymore. He says whenever they abuse their power, he will be around to fix it. He will do the same for Okada. He also says that the title Okada is waving around looks really nice to him.

We then get Don Callis and Okada in the back and Don says they have to listen to Swerve making wolf calls every week, but he is missing class, which Okada has. Okada says to Swerve, we don’t need to talk, let’s just fight. 

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) w/Stoke vs The Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn) w/Cardboard Jay White and Colton Gunn - Tag Team Title Tournament

Daniel Garcia has joined commentary.

Cash and Juice start the match. They grab hands and Cash tries to pull Juice to his corner. He fails but tags in Dax. They run the ropes and Juice grabs a quick small package for two. Austin tags in and gets a HUGE cheer when he does. Austin and Dax lock up and then run the ropes. Dax gets a hip toss and each goes to their corners. Juice tags in and they lock up and Dax forces them into the corner. Dax lays in strikes and Juice fires big strikes as they work out of the corner. Juice slams Dax’s head into the turnbuckles all the way down and then tags in Austin.

Dax gets a big back elbow and tags in Cash. Cash gets a series of chops and Austin fires back. Juice tags back in and Cash works Juice into his corner and tags in Dax. This sets off the tag team siren and all four men are fighting in the ring. The Bang Bang Gang gets stereo back body drop and then tosses FTR to the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Austin has been the babyface in peril through the break. Dax gets an abdominal stretch and Cash grabs Dax’s hand until the ref sees it and makes them break. Austin gets the tag, but the referee doesn't see it, so Juice chases Dax around the ring. Dax gets into the ring where Cash is holding Austin and Dax gets a headlock slam for two on Austin as the ref keeps Juice out of the ring.

Austin is tossed to the floor and Cash leaps at him, but misses and hits the barricade. Austin crawls into the ring and Dax stops him from the tag. Austin nails Dax twice and when he goes for the third, he slaps Dax; arm instead so he can break away, get the tag and Juice can run wild. Dax begs off and goes to the floor. Juice rolls him back in and gives Dax a shoulder tackle. Juice goes for a sunset flip, but Dax sits down. He grabs Stoke’s crutch, but the ref sees it, He kicks the crutch away and Juice gets the roll up for two. 

Juice puts Dax on top, and joins him there. Dax bites Juice, and Juice falls. Cash tires for a pile driver, and Austin stops Dax while Juice catapults Cash to the floor. The Bang Bang Gang hits Power and Glory on Dax for two and Juice rolls out of the way so that Cash lands on Dax. Juice covers again for two as Austin and Cash go to the floor. Juice goes for the Blade Runner, but Dax rakes the eyes. Juice knocks FTR into each other and covers Dax for two. Juice then hits Blade Runner for two.

Austin tags in Dax keeps trying for rollups for two. Cash gets in the ring for the shatter machine, but Juice drops him. Dax takes a Famouser from Austin for two broken up by Cash. Juice and Cash fight on the floor and get slammed into the steel steps. Austin rolls up Dax and the ref is distracted by Stoke. Cash hits Austin to reverse it and ref sees it and counts the pin and the win.

Winner is not going to the finals, FTR

We get a Technique by Taz where he goes over Athena’s finisher, The O Face. 

Athena cuts a promo about how it is only a matter of time before she takes Toni Storm’s title at Forbidden Door. 

Weird that we are not getting any intercompany matches yet.

It’s now time for the Max Caster 5 minute challenge, and he gets scattered applause. He leads his chant. It is getting harder for him to crap on them for not doing it right, since they are doing it. He then starts to bash Anthony Bowens. 

Max Caster vs Rush w/Dralistico and Mortos

Max bails from the ring and runs away from him on the floor. And then Max jogs around the ring. Eventually, Rush goes to the floor and pops Max in the mush. Rush then tosses Max into the barricades. Max is tossed into the ring and Rush starts jawing with a fan. Max dives onto Rush and then rolls Rush into the ring. Max misses a splash in the corner and Rush takes over.

Rush gets a power slam and pulls Max up at one. He goes back to beating down max. 

Rush has survived 5 minutes with the best wrestler alive!

Rush hits the Bull’s Horns and they start beating down Max. Security tries to break it up and they get beaten down as well. Jet Speed and AR Fox charge to the ring and everyone is fighting up the ramp, except for Max, who is flat on his back in the middle of the ring. He holds a fist up and his music plays. 

We get video of Mercedes Mone’s defense of the Rev Pro title last week. 

Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo and Shawn w/Trish Adora and Anthony Ogogo vs Skyflight Scorpio Sky, Darius and Dante Martin w/Christopher Daniels and Leila Grey

Sky and Taylor start the match and Sky gets a series of knee strikes before running into a right hand from Taylor. Sky is beat down by Taylor’s entire team in their corner.  Sky gets a big drop-kick on Bravo and tags in Darius. Dante also gets into the ring as well to drop Bravo to the floor. Darius gets a cover on the returning Bravo. Dean grabs Darius’s feet and hauls him to the apron when Bravo and Taylor hit leg drops as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Dante has just gotten the hat tag and runs wild. Taylor tags in and Dante throws forearms. Taylor beats him down and tags in Bravo. Bravo tags in Dean then Dean tags in Bravo. They try a double team but fail and Sky is tagged in. Everyone is fighting around the ring.  Sky gets a face plant after hoisting Bravo for the pin and the win.

Winners: Skyflight.

WAY too fast paced to keep track of and felt incredibly rushed. I know that Skyflight needed to get the win in their first match as a team, but that was just a mess. 

We then get video of Darby and Mox fighting by the El train. Security drags Darby away as Darby was going to dump him off the fire escape. 

Dustin Rhodes (TNT Champion) vs Kyle Fletcher - Chicago Street Fight

Don Callis joins commentary

They jack jaws in the middle of the ring and Dustin throws a right hand. The fight quickly spills to the floor. Kyle grabs a steel pipe and Dustin gets a big strike and then uses the pipe on Kyle. Kyle hits a DDT on the steel steps. Kyle grabs a table from under the ring and sets it up against the barricade. Kyle throws strikes and lays him on the table and dives at him, but Dustin gets out of the way and Kyle goes through the table. 

Dustin is busted open and grabs a table and sets it up and also grabs a cowbell on a rope that he uses on Kyle’s head when Kyle grabs him. Dustin pops Kyle with the cow bell for two. Kyle is busted open as well. Dustin goes for a bulldog off the apron, but Kyle holds onto the rope so that Dustin goes through the table as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Kyle is whipping Dustin with the bull rope. Dustin gets a low blow and a Code Red for two. They throw hands in the middle of the ring. Dustin hits Crossroads for two. Dustin goes under the ring again and pulls out chairs. Kyle grabs a chair as well and slam chairs into each other. Kyle drops his chair and Dustin repeatedly waffles him with it. Kyle kicks the chair into Dustin’s face. Kyle sets up chairs and tombstones Dustin on them for two. 

Kyle sets up a table in the ring and Kyle puts Dustin on the top. Kyle joins him and they fight on the top. Dustin headbutts Kyle and then hits a Code Red from the top through the table for two. Dustin then pulls out a work glove covered with thumb tacks. Dustin goes for the Claw and Kyle holds it off for a bit, but Dustin gets the claw. Kyle gets a low blow to break the hold. 

Kyle pulls out a black bag from under the ring and empties the thumbtacks on the mat. Kyle sets for a suplex into the tacks. They go back and forth and Kyle gets a super kick. Dustin then gets a power slam into the tacks and covers for two. Dustin sets Kyle up in the corner for shattered dreams. Dustin then stops and shakes the bag, and there are more tacks in the bag. Dustin pours them down the front of Kyle trunks, and THEN hits shattered dreams.

Kyle pulls out a screwdriver and Don holds Dustin as Kyle runs the screwdriver into Dustin’s knee. The screwdriver is jabbed in Dustin’s knee and Dustin has to pull it out. Kyle goes for a suplex and Dustin gets a small package for two. Kyle gets a brain buster in the tack for the pin and the win.

Winner and NEW TNT Champion: Kyle Fletcher

Super bloody, super violent and not at all easy to watch.

After the match, Don and Kyle wraps Dustin’s leg around the ringpost and Kyle nails it with the chair over and over as we are out of time.
