7/21 WRESTLING OPEN: RHODE ISLAND LIVE REPORT

By Adam Cardoza on 2025-07-28 16:24:00

Wrestling Open RI

7/21/25 Cranston RI

Spotlight Match: JGeorge beats Jake Painter

Summer Stunner is back on July 28th in Cranston, Rhode Island, and July 31st in Worcester, Massachusetts. The tradition continues.

Match 1: Moist Boys (DJ Powers & Giorgio Lawrence) vs Shooter Boys (Anthony Vecchio & Aaron Ortiz)

I wonder how many times I have to type “Moist Boys” as their team name before it becomes “official” on Cagematch. XD - Anyways, good lord the Shooter Boys are OVER in Cranston. It’s not even a question. DJ and Giorgio are just as slimy to RI as they are to Worcester. The SB’s are riding the wave of love after winning the Von Erich 6-man tournament last week with Bobby Orlando. Powers and Giorgio keep Ortiz grounded and out of his corner….until they can’t. Vecchio runs wild and his German grip won’t let them slip, as he tosses them around the ring. It looks dark when the Moist Boys crotch Vecchio on the top…but combo to Ortiz but he kicks out! Ortiz fights off a doomsday device! Powers get crotched on the buckles! Lawrence eats a hart attack blockbuster for the win! Excellent open to the night!!!

Rich Palladino is here to interview Davienne. She has a challenge to respond to! Liviyah wants another shot at Davienne…but Davi sees no reason to accept. She’s too busy taunting the fans to notice Liviyah running onto the production stage to tackle her! Big dive off the stage into the chairs! Davienne escapes and accepts the match!

Match 2: Kylon King vs Channing Thomas

Kylon is all better and ready to fight…and Channing Thomas is VERY happy to be giving him tonight’s beating. King doesn’t show a lot of ring rust as he starts to take the contest over, and cuts off World Class at every opportunity. Channing with a great dropkick and wants that piledriver but King rolls to the ropes. A couple of students run out to tell Him Something is wrong with Anthony Greene. Channing runs to the back and we see AG has been laid out. Back in the ring? The ref is forced to call Channing’s exit a forfeit and a jubilant Kylon celebrates at an upset Cranston crowd.

Match 3: Brett Ryan Gosselin vs Brando Lee

BRG owns the first chunk of this match handily, confidently beating on the lesser experienced Lee for much of this time. Brando will NOT stay down. Lee hits the comeback and a rolling DVD and top rope double stomp ends the match. The match itself was solid and straightforward but the crowd was with them the whole way…and sometimes that classic wrestling comeback is precisely what you wanna see win the day. Good stuff.

Match 4: GAL & Jose Zamora vs Brick City (Victor Chase and Julio Cruz)

Big Rizz is owning a lot of the opening here but Gal & Zamora get him trapped in there, likely fueled by all that losing they did last week in the Von Erich finals. Cruz is kept at bay and  base cannot seem to find a way out of the danger zone. Gal even using Zamora as a weapon to get more damage in. Julio finally in and he chases Zamora to the outside! Channing Thomas charges the ring to attack Gal, he accuses Mint of attacking AG in the back. I think we have a no contest on our hands, as Brick City seems miffed at the result and Gal Escapes out the exit.

Rich Palladino announces that as a result of winning the Von Erich tournament, the Shooter Boys are getting a shot at the Open tag belts. But Bobby Orlando? He gets a shot at the Open championship, currently held by former Shook Crew partner and current scumbag Bryce Donovan. The clash they’ve been teasing for months is finally happening? Bobby says he just can’t bring himself to fight Bryce. The champ is here! Bryce might hate us but he loves Bobby. But he agrees that Bobby doesn’t have it in him to fight Bryce. But he offers to let Bobby join up with him (and Smart Mark and Scalise and Jariel) if he just gives up his title shot. “NO” says Bobby. Bryce runs Orlando down for being the only member of Shook Crew NOT picked by a major org. Bobby found his  motivation. He says the title has made Bryce a poisoned friend surrounded by stooges…so he’s coming for ALL of them. Bryce decides that next week at Summer Stunner: It’s gonna be Bryce, Scalise and Swipe Right vs Orlando, Shooter Boys…and probably no one else cause Orlando doesn’t have any friends any more. But before Bobby can respond: Brad Baylor blindsides Bobby with a ref and we have a match!

Match 5: Bobby Orlando vs Brad Baylor

Bobby eats plenty of offense early, since this didn’t start in the most fair way. The story here is Bobby battling back against the WWE ID talent and Open tag champ. Brad keeping the pressure on but our Mom won’t give up and a roll up shows just how easily Bryce’s title reign COULD end in a few short weeks.

Main Event: Dustin Waller & Oxx Adams vs Love Doug & Ichiban

We hate Dustin Waller and he has found slimy ways to escape his comeuppance in recent weeks…and he’s feeling really confident in bringing the huge Oxx Adams

to deal with two of the smallest members of Open’s long term roster. Dustin lets Oxx be a PROBLEM. Doug and Ichiban start to find ways to work together to bring this beast down…but leave it to Kylon King to interject himself, Germans Ichiban to draw the DQ! Kylon grabs a door and sets it up…Doug is trying to fight to stop this but Oxx just pulls him out of the action. Dustin and Kylon throw Ichiban through a door and here we have our preview for next week’s Open Door War! Brando Lee runs down to even the odds. Ichiban grabs the mic: “Dustin. Kylon. You broke Ichiban’s heart! Now Ichiban breaks you!” - HE USES SENTENCES

NOW?!?

Denver Colorado on the stage to thank everyone. He mentions that there is some backstory with Bobby Orlando and Bryce Donovan around the origins of Wrestling

Open. Maybe he can tell that story soon. As for next week! SUMMER STUNNER! Let’s break the 200 attendee mark and set a record!
