By Adam Cardoza on 2025-07-19 10:50:00

Scenic City Invitational Night 1
7/18/25 – Red Bank, TN

Mose and Rob Weathers are at the commentary table. Scott Hensley is your announcer. Tonight, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the SCI! All of our first-round matches take place tonight!

Wait a tick… Last year’s winner Adam Priest is out here to interrupt the proceedings! He broke the trophy last year! He says the SCI stacks the odds against great talent… which is why it took him three years to actually win in the finals… he’s about to address the trophy… well, here come former SCI champs Manders & Jaden Newman! Priest needed a partner for this match… and he decided to bring in a champion who SHOULD have been in the tournament but was clearly held back by the powers that be. It’s TWE champ Erron Wade!

Match 1: Cowboys From Hell (1 Called Manders & Jaden Newman w/ The Rev) vs. Adam Priest & Erron Wade (w/ a dojo student Colon)

So we have the 2022 & 2023 SCI winners facing off against the 2024 SCI winner and the TWE champion? What an opener! Priest and Wade use quick tags to get under the skin of their opponents, who immediately break the “please no cussing” request given to the crowd, lol. This devolves into a ringside brawl through the crowd—let’s gooooo! Several hard chops from the Cowboys, but Jaden eats a hard slam to the concrete and Manders gets double-teamed. Wade tries to grind the life out of Manders as Jaden slowly recovers to his corner. Lots of tags as they work over Manders’ legs. The Reverend gets wise to the student’s attempts to get involved and keeps him at bay. Hot tag to Jaden! Step-up enziguri to Wade as he DDTs Priest for a two! Avalanche powerslam and a top rope elbow to Priest, but Wade breaks up the pin! Student’s got the kendo stick! The Rev grabs it and screams at him, so he runs in terror! Erron Wade is left to eat a pair of cowboy lariats! Priest with the pin save! Manders is mad. Jaden with a blind tag! Release vertical suplex! He tries a fireman’s carry, but Priest rakes the eyes! Blind tag from Manders! Priest DDTs Jaden but stands up into a huge cowboy lariat that drops him for the three! What an opener! This could have been a main event!

It’s time to kick off the SCI Opening Round with World Class! Sidney Bakabella is here with Channing Thomas to start the “Sidney/Channing Invitational.” It’s Channing’s birthday? Boooooo! This is an incredible intro. Massaro, not to be outdone, leads the crowd in a singalong of “That’s Amore.” Bakabella accuses Ref Gina of being on the take. We haven’t even started yet and this is MOTN.

Match 2: World Class Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) vs. Vinny Massaro (SCI Opening Round)

Channing is trying to out-Italian Massaro. Is Channing Italian? It’s not going well and he runs for cover, tripping over the stairs in the process. Massaro works over World Class. Bakabella grabs the leg of Vinny, and Channing cracks him with a dropkick! Bakabella chokes Vinny on the ropes. Ref Gina is oblivious to the shenanigans. True to form, Bakabella is also threatening elderly people at ringside with pain and/or marriage. Vertical suplex from Massaro! Fisherman’s suplex from Thomas! Massaro escapes the World Class Piledriver! Huge body toss for two! A collision between Channing and Bakabella! Massaro almost gets the rollup! This is how Channing lost last time! Massaro goes to suplex Channing but Bakabella grabs the leg—Channing switches positions mid-air and comes down on Vinny! Channing gets the three, reminiscent of Rude/Warrior at Mania 5!

Massaro takes his revenge on Sidney: chasing him into the ring, pulling his pants down, and hitting a forearm that causes Bakabella to go to sleep and need assistance to the back. Incredible.

Match 3: Diego Hill vs. Terry Yaki (SCI Opening Round)

And now for an entirely different kind of match! What starts with a handshake goes right into a series of quick pin attempts. Hill hits a vicious double stomp to the spine! They trade dives into the wall of sponsors! Yaki catches a dive from Hill into an apron DDT! Yaki grabs a headlock; Hill twists and pulls but can’t free himself. “It’s my time!” yells Terry as Hill cracks him with a chop. Diego firing forearms for days! Shotgun into the corner! Dropkick! Big Finlay roll! Terry avoids the moonsault! Hangman Destroyer?!?! Hill with a Lethal Injection! He hits a high-velocity corkscrew kick to the spine and Terry Yaki stays down for the three! What a clash!

Match 4: Hunter Drake vs. Bojack (SCI Opening Round)

I hope this match is just Bojack yeeting this irritating child into the sun

Match 5: Colby Corino vs. Kody Manhorn (SCI Opening Round)

Kody is my dark horse favorite to win this whole thing, but he’s got a TEST tonight in the first round. Colby gets right into the scramble and starts to twist Manhorn up. Kody is used to pain, but it’s usually inflicted by vicious implements of destruction. This is a different sort to test his will to win. Corino just lights Manhorn up over and over. Kody finally flips free and takes all of the last five minutes of pain out on Corino. He grabs a bridging armbar—the crowd wants the tap, but Corino won’t let it happen. Colby eats a poisonrana and rebounds with a shining wizard to the back of the head! Kody is the sentimental face here, but the crowd does LIKE Corino. The crowd is reacting to some of these big hits, but this is nail-biting for everyone. Colby hits a piledriver and electric chair iconoclasm! Kody out at ONE! Kody with a rana from the top! Disaster kick! Bridging German for two! A pair of running headbutts! He goes for a third but eats a superkick! Colby hits that electric chair iconoclasm for the win. So much for MY picks! lol.

Match 6: Kasey Owens vs. Brett Ison

Kasey had a tall test with original opponent Danny Briggs. He has a MUCH taller order in the KOBK king. Owens mistakes Ison’s general absence of late for weakness. Brett no-sells a few chops and then slaps the soul out of Kasey. Running forearms and a boot wash. Kasey finally starts getting some damage in on that arm Ison has been torturing him with. The crowd tries to rally Ison back into this, but he’s taking a lot of damage from Owens, who is smartly not letting up at all. An apron powerslam stops Owens long enough for Ison to get some recovery in. “I RUN THIS NOW!” shouts Kasey as he starts throwing forearms, but the Pitbull is waking up, and a sliding forearm flattens Owens. Owens blocks the backfist! A pair of running headbutts and a flying knee crumples Ison. “STAY DOWN!” Brett kicks out! Brett hits a discus forearm! Owens rebounds with another flying headbutt and wraps Ison in a crossface chicken wing. ISON PASSES OUT AND KASEY OWENS SHOCKS THE CROWD BY ADVANCING TO THE SECOND ROUND. The crowd claps in appreciation for Ison, but it’s clear the Pitbull has lost some of his mystique.

Match 7: Mortar vs. Mad Dog Connolly (SCI Opening Round)

This could go a number of ways. Mortar has definitely earned the respect of Chattanooga, but they DO like Connolly’s energy. Mortar had given Ref Gina his coat, and Connolly mistakes her for his opponent. Connolly at least knows not to bring his giant chain into the match (yet). Connolly is gleefully eating offense and dealing plenty of his own back. Mortar uses a more high-flying style tonight to counteract the sheer brawl. Huuuuuuge flying splash to the floor! Mortar gets baited into chopping the post, and Connolly goes for the chain. Mortar bites his forehead! Slingshot into the support post! Mortar grabs the chain, and it seems to have Undertaker-urn-like powers over Connolly’s attention. Gina has to be so close to counting them out. Connolly with a Gotch piledriver on the apron! Time for the dog to fly! Top rope headbutt! Mortar kicks out! Head kick to the dog! Connolly keeps coming! Mortar reverses a superplex with his own corkscrew suplex! Lionsault for two! Mortar tries for a package piledriver but can’t lift him! Both guys are ready to end this. Mortar finally hits a discus lariat! Connolly dodges a moonsault, picks up Mortar by the neck from behind, and hangs him until Mortar taps out. Crazy match. Mortar stops Connolly and demands a handshake. The crowd wants sportsmanship… Mad Dog shakes the hand… and smashes Mortar with his chain. Can’t teach a mad dog respect. Great match!

Match 8: Jamesen Shook vs. Gary Jay (SCI Opening Round)

This is ALMOST a mirror match of two hard-hitting lanky gingers. Shook won the ACTION Futures Tournament last year and has since become the current co-holder of the IWTV Tag Team Championships… so this would be a hell of a torch-passing moment for Shook in the first round. Shook chops Jay early, and the crowd knows THAT was a bad idea. This turns into a hard exchange of strikes and chops that Shook is not nearly experienced enough to hang with one of the masters in. Change of strategy: this is the TWE ARENA and Shook knows this building like the back of his hand, and Jay gets AA’d into the front row of VERY HARD AND UNFORGIVING chairs! Jay recovers and lands a series of headbutts to the back of the neck and double curb-stomps Shook into the mat. Gary lights up Shook with some of the thuddingest chops of the weekend. Every time Shook tries to come back, Gary drags him right back to earth with a shot to the head. Shook with a desperate AA, but Gary kicks out! Back in the pocket and trading—Gary crumbles Jamesen again. Gary wakes him up with a chop to the back! Hard strikes trading again, but Shook hits a third AA and Gary Jay stays down this time. Awesome fight feel here. Jamesen advances to the second round, but how much juice will he have tomorrow night??? For the meantime, Shook takes in the love of the crowd.

Main Event: Tim Bosby (w/ Dylan Hales) vs. Krule (SCI Opening Round)

The current ACTION Wrestling Champion main events tonight’s action against the former IWTV Champion. Oh God, I forgot Bosby made the ACTION belt a spinner. Dylan Hales runs the crowd down and announces Bosby’s supposedly inevitable win. “Dylan sucks!” – Flick the lights… Krule is here. All will burn. Bosby has survived Krule before, but he’s clearly not looking forward to taking damage from the monster again. Hales berates his charge, demanding he get back in there and FIGHT. Krule gives him a taste of his brutality… but oversteps when he tries a suicide dive, and Bosby hits a DDT to the floor. Hales looks to maybe hit Krule with the loaded backpack—it’s a ruse! Bosby comes in to blindside… and it immediately backfires, and Krule busts him open with several introductions to the support post. “Tim, are you alive?” says Hales. Krule just unloads on Bosby… but Tim is very much alive and is probably one of very few people on the indies who could toss Krule across the ring like I just saw. Huge corner spear! Bosby trying for the tapout… THIS IS KRULE, TIM. Bosby smashes Krule’s legs into the posts while Hales mocks the monster. Tim with an F5 into the support post! Krule slowly makes it back into the ring. Bosby dances around the monster and crumbles him with jabs. Krule with the reversal into Scorched Earth! Bosby reverses to an ankle lock! Hales tries to interfere, but Krule pulls him in by the throat! Krule punches life back into his leg and stalks Hales! Krule accidentally decks the ref! Bosby hits a stinger splash while the ref is helped away. New ref! Bosby with an F5! Krule kicks out! Bosby comes back in for the kill, but Krule traps him in a head and arm triangle! Bosby definitely taps out, but Hales had pulled the ref out! They fight at ringside! Krule with a flying splash to everyone! Krule goes back to the matter at hand! Ref Gina becomes the third ref in this match as Bosby hits another F5! Bosby with the kip-up. Krule with the sit-up! Bosby hits his own hand chopping Krule’s chest. ONE CHOP FROM THE MONSTER starches Tim! Bosby goes for the F5 again! Reverse to a chokeslam! Scorched Earth connects! Hales barely makes it to his feet to see Bosby felled and covered for the three. Fantastic match! Absolutely bonkers. ACTION CEO Matt Griffin is out here to try and wake up his champ with a spritz of water. Holy hell, what a bonkers close to a fantastic show.

Scott Hensley is back out to announce the Round 2 matchups:

  • Hunter Drake vs. Diego Hill

  • Kasey Owens vs. Colby Corino

  • Channing Thomas vs. Mad Dog

  • Krule vs. Jamesen Shook

Oh wow. We have some bangers for Night 2! But before that? The ACTION FUTURES SHOWCASE at 2 p.m.!

. Bojack is billed at 385 lbs. I think Drake is like 110 soaking wet. “Bojack’s gonna killllll you,” chants the SCI crowd. Drake spends ample time on the floor, trying to figure out what he’s gonna do here. Maybe he thinks he’ll frustrate the big man. I don’t know why that seems like a good idea. Bojack finally gets his hands on Drake when he gets distracted by a fan. Time to hear how loud these Bojack chops can get. Drake’s in-and-out strategy FINALLY pays off when he gets chased out of the ring again, but he manages to take out Bojack’s leg and drop him to the concrete. He makes it back in, but Drake starts lighting the big man up with a bunch of kicks. But it’s not enough to get a two… never mind a three. A series of chops makes Bojack very mad, and a chokebreaker/flatliner/German combo takes all the vinegar out of this fink. Drake is resilient though, eating an Alabama Slam and powerbomb and not being dead. He resorts to a ref distraction and a low blow to set up a step-up destroyer to actually get the win over the huge Bojack! I had a feeling this is how this one might go. I hate being right sometimes.
