TNA will present Slammiversary 2025 on Sunday, July 20th at 8 PM Eastern (Countdown to Slammiversary is at 7 PM Eastern) from the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. Let’s take a look at the card that will air live on TNA+, Triller, and PPV:
*TNA World Champion/NXT’s Trick Williams vs. Joe Hendry vs. Mike Santana
*TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich vs. NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne - Title vs. Title
*TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths vs. The Rascalz vs. The Hardys vs. First Class - Ladder Match
*TNA X-Division Champion Moose vs. Leon Slater
*Mustafa Ali vs. Cedric Alexander
*Tessa Blanchard vs. Indi Hartwell
*NXT’s Darkstate vs. The System and Matt Cardona
*TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions The Elegance Brand vs. The IInspiration (Countdown to Slammiversary)
Below is how I can see things happening/what I am keeping an eye on. However, keep this in mind - this is going to be one of, if not THE, biggest shows in TNA history. Whether I think something is hitting or not is irrelevant. I’m just a dude who watches the shows and does some coverage. Sunday’s show is a HUGE win and I am so happy for TNA. And you know what? I’m excited for me, too. I will be at Slammiversary LIVE in person and I’m going to have a big smile on my face the whole time. Doing the coverage for TNA on PWInsider.com is an honor and I feel like a proud papa when “my shows” do great things. Slammiversary is a great thing. I hope you all tune in and enjoy!
TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions The Elegance Brand vs. The IInspiration (Countdown to Slammiversary)
As of this writing, there hasn’t been as much interaction between these two teams as I expected there to be. And you know what? - that kind of makes me sad. Both teams are so much fun, both in the ring and on the microphone. I feel like not having more back and forths was a missed opportunity to build this feud. Maybe they didn’t want to rely on humor too much so that people took the match more seriously? Despite the lack of interaction, I am looking forward to this match. The IInspiration have looked good in their return and The Elegance Brand has been a really fun act. Obviously, The IInspiration will have the numbers against them and I think it’ll be too much to overcome. The Elegance Brand picking up a win here will legitimize them even more and it could continue the feud, as well. It’ll be interesting, though. TNA may want to give the fans a happy win here. Let’s keep in mind Ash’s actions on the latest iMPACT! With her desire to go after the TNA Knockouts World Championship (and she is the #1 Contender), then maybe getting the tag team titles off of her will help boost her up there.
NXT’s Darkstate vs. The System and Matt Cardona
This match came about nicely. Even before Darkstate attacked Matt Cardona, he was interacting and having moments with Brian Myers. Once Darkstate did attack him, though, things fell into place. At first, The System didn’t want anything to do with it. However, once they got attacked, too, then things fell into place even more. With Moose entangled with Leon Slater, Matt Cardona being the fourth man to take on Darkstate works nicely. The question becomes, though - can Cardona and The System be on the same page? Does this make The System faces? Or is it a one night only agreement? I’m digging this and I’m interested because it’s not about heels and faces, it’s about TNA vs. NXT. They figure out the rest after the match. I’m looking forward to both this match and what happens in the weeks after it. Who wins? I mean…The System and Matt Cardona have to defend TNA’s line at their own show, right? RIGHT?! I don’t know…something is making me lean towards Darkstate winning due to something shenanigans-y happening.
Tessa Blanchard vs. Indi Hartwell
This will be Indi Hartwell’s biggest test in TNA since debuting in April. If you happened to have listened to any of my ten-Talks audios, you know that I feel that Hartwell hasn’t had the best of starts in the company. While nothing has been horrible, it also hasn’t been a very hot start and there have been some shaky, aura-less moments. Say what you will about Tessa Blanchard, but inside of the ring - she’s very good. Her intensity has carried this feud and I am hoping that it sparks something within Hartwell that catapults her to the next level so that she can get on the road to being “The Knockout” that she claims to be. Given how things have played out in this feud, I see Hartwell picking up the win. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing Blanchard pick up a cheap win (maybe with the help of Victoria Crawford), to continue the issue and have Hartwell come back for revenge in an intense manner.
Mustafa Ali vs. Cedric Alexander
The Order 4 storyline has been a roller coaster ride the last few months, but I’ve actually enjoyed it. You could argue that it’s been a little more twisty than necessary, but I feel like they’ve brought it full circle and done a nice job with it. Plus, the rest of the show tends to be relatively straight forward, so having a storyline that is a big bonkers doesn’t hurt when it’s the only one. Either way, no matter how we got here…we got Mustafa Ali vs. Cedric Alexander. I’m not going to complain about that. It’s a banger. It’s immediately a contender for Match of the Night. I am VERY excited to see these two go at it. I am sure that Order 4 will play a part in this, but I’m hoping they don’t play too big of a part and just let these two awesome wrestlers do their thing. However, it’ll be interesting to see if Order 4 is truly back on the same page or not. If they are, Ali wins. If not, Alexander picks up a big victory. If Alexander wins, does Ali completely lose it after months of spiraling?
TNA X-Division Champion Moose vs. Leon Slater
For months, I have said that the person to take the TNA X-Division Championship should be someone that is built up with a good story. TNA has built up Leon Slater and he has an excellent story. Is this the time? If it is, Slater will become the youngest ever TNA X-Division Champion. If it’s not, then Moose is one step closer to becoming the longest reigning TNA X-Division Champion. Both stories appeal to me. I will be honest, I wasn’t sold on Slater winning until recently. That’s not a knock on Slater - I enjoy him as a wrestler, but I didn’t see the fire and passion from his promos. However, both he and TNA have stepped up their game over the last few weeks. The video package for Slater that covered his upbringing and journey in wrestling was excellent. Slater has also been better on the microphone. I feel like Moose has had a strong run as TNA X-Division Champion and I don’t know if I’m ready for it to end. However, everything is in place for Slater to have a big moment here and I’m leaning towards him taking the title to solidify his place in the history books.
TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths vs. The Rascalz vs. The Hardys vs. First Class - Ladder Match
These four teams have had a lot of in-ring interactions over the last few weeks, but not much else has happened to build up this match until the most recent iMPACT! But, hey - it’s a Ladder Match featuring The Hardys, so who am I to complain? The Rascalz are always a good time. First Class is a super underrated act that has become one of my favorite teams to watch. The Nemeths bring it every time and are really fun to hate in recent months. All of the ingredients are there for a really solid Ladder Match. It’ll be interesting to see how the match is structured with Trey Miguel and KC Navarro banged up. I think this match comes down to The Nemeths and The Hardys. Will The Hardys’ experience with ladders give them the advantage or will the relaxed rules allow The Nemeths to do something underhanded to retain the titles? With so many eyes on this show, I’m kind of leaning towards The Hardys getting a big win here - especially with all their talk of being unsure if they can still do it on the last iMPACT! I just don’t know if it’s the right time and place for The Nemeths to lose.
TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich vs. NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne - Title vs. Title
I did not have this on my Bingo card for 2025. I didn’t have a lot of things on my 2025 Bingo card, actually. What a crazy wrestling world we are living in and I’m here for it! In terms of title reign length, I think it makes more sense for Masha Slamovich to lose her title over Jacy Jayne losing her NXT Women’s Title. However, an NXT wrestler (Trick Williams) recently won the TNA World Championship. If we are doing even booking, then Slamovich should win the NXT Women’s Championship. There are no rules about even booking, of course. I will say this, though - while I don’t think TNA has been mishandled in their partnership with NXT/WWE, I know some people feel like they have. This would be a good opportunity to show that TNA can get one over on NXT/WWE with a big Slamovich win here. I also think it would be pretty cool for Slamovich to show up to independent bookings with belts from TNA, NXT, and JCW (Jersey Championship Wrestling). I also think it makes sense for Slamovich to win the title here so that either TNA or NXT can cash in on a built in storyline with Jordynne Grace now that she’s in NXT and always hunting for a title shot. Sounds like I’m leaning towards Slamovich winning. I would keep an eye on Ash, though. Slamovich shouldered her on the most recent iMPACT! and I’m sure Ash may seek out some type of revenge. Will it be at Slammiversary, though?
TNA World Champion/NXT’s Trick Williams vs. Joe Hendry vs. Mike Santan/a
I have no idea who is going to win this match and I love it. I give credit to all three of these men, plus TNA and NXT/WWE for providing a really well-built main event for Slammiversary. Trick Williams has been a great heel to the TNA brand and TNA has done a really nice job of “wanting to get their title back.” Both Joe Hendry and Mike Santana would love to be the person to save the TNA World Championship from an outsider. Will their desires get in the way of each other? Will NXT (coughDarkstatecough) play a part in Williams retaining? There are so many ways to go with this. Personally, I feel like the momentum of Santana is the wave TNA should ride. He has had the strongest story leading up to the match and is fighting for so much. With Slammiversary being in Santana’s “backyard,” THIS is the feel-good moment that TNA may want to send the fans home with. Enough has been done to keep me guessing, though, and I love it!
PHENOMENAL
The hints were clear and the end of iMPACT! sealed the deal. AJ Styles will be at Slammiversary. There is nothing to preview about it. Watch it and enjoy! I can’t wait!
Other Stuff
nZo has promised to be at Slammiversary and he’s not showing up alone. He is bringing Zilla Fatu, a Bishop (I’m assuming Joshua Bishop), and he mentioned “Good Brothers” (I can’t confirm it’s THOSE Good Brothers). Steve Maclin will hold the line against nZo and the Fourth Rope crew.
Frankie Kazarian doesn’t have a match. He told Mike Johnson (go listen to the interview - it’s great!) that he’ll be doing something. I’m excited to see exactly what that is.
Overall Thoughts
I know I sometimes complain about TNA throwing cards together for their TNA+ monthly specials, but a Slammiversary PPV has to be different - and it is. TNA has done a nice job of building to Sunday's biggest matches and I am truly looking forward to them. The main event can go any of three ways, the Title vs. Title Women’s Championship match is very interesting, Ali vs. Alexander has a lot of momentum, Leon Slater is poised for a huge moment, and there is tension between TNA and NXT…and Fourth Rope, apparently. The rest of the matches on the card are going to be solid to great inside of the ring, as well.
Quick personal note - I had to double check this, but I haven’t been to a TNA show since Bully Ray put Dixie Carter through a table in August of 2014. Wow! I can’t believe it’s been that long. I am so happy to be going back to TNA for the first time in over a decade and it’s a hell of a show to be going to. With that said, if you normally enjoy my TNA coverage, I apologize. I do plan on doing a “post game” audio either when I get home from the show or Monday morning. The great Cory Strode is filling in for me and I cannot thank him enough. Thank you, Cory!
