7/16 AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2025-07-16 22:52:00

It’s Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is live from Chicago, IL, at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz, and tonight we get the fallout from All In!

Tony Schiavone welcomes new World Champion Adam Page, who shows off the belt and says the fans deserve it and it is because of them that All Elite Wrestling exists. He then says they don’t do it for titles; they do it for the fans. He then says the fans deserve to have someone carrying the title who appreciates them more than anyone else.

He says not everyone who was in the war made it out of it OK, so he thanks Orange Cassidy, Jay White, Adam Copeland, The Opps, Bryan Danielson, and Darby Allin. He thanks Will Ospreay, who didn’t walk out of All In on his own two feet. He then struggles a bit and thanks Swerve Strickland.

Page says he shed blood and a few tears and says that while Jon Moxley and others may say that makes him less than a man, he has a family who loves him, fans who respect him, and he is the champion of the <censored> world.

We then get a video package about All In.

We get a video of Matt and Nick Jackson showing up earlier today in an Uber.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Mascara Dorada

Fletcher runs in with a big boot and then grounds and pounds Mascara. Fletcher then lays in strikes and chops. They run the ropes and Mascara bounces off the ropes in the corner with an arm drag and then a missile dropkick from the top of the ring post. Fletcher kicks Mascara to the floor and dives, but Mascara has already slid into the ring and gets a tornado dive onto Fletcher. Fletcher recovers, dodges a leap from the top, and hits a swinging slam as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Fletcher slams Mascara again. Mascara is able to turn a slam into a hurricanrana. He and Fletcher fight in the corner, and then Mascara gets a tejaris on Fletcher. Fletcher is kicked to the floor and Mascara gets a shooting star press from the middle rope. Fletcher is rolled into the ring. Mascara gets a series of kicks and hits a Code Red for two.

Mascara goes to the top and Fletcher gets a kick on him there. Fletcher tries for a brainbuster, and Mascara escapes out the back and then gets a hurricanrana from the top. Mascara goes to the top and hits a 450 splash for two. Mascara tries to pick up Fletcher, and when Fletcher blocks it, Mascara hits him with chops and then runs into a superkick. Mascara reverses a pickup and gets a tejaris into the turnbuckles.

Fletcher tosses Mascara into the turnbuckles and hits a sheer drop brainbuster for the pin and the win.

Winner: Kyle Fletcher

Fletcher says that Dustin Rhodes took away the biggest day of his life, so it is his life’s mission to take everything away from Rhodes.

Renee Paquette catches up with the Young Bucks in a basement where they are looking for their locker room. They say hello to Marina Shafir, who sneers at them. They get to their locker room, where “EVP” is being scribbled out of their name. Ricochet laughs at them as he goes by. Don Callis says that it’s terrible what AEW has done to them, but now that Kenny Omega is dead, they can do business.

The Bucks say they won’t join his family, but they could be friends. They hug.

MVP is with the Hurt Syndicate and he is tired of begging for a tag team to step up and take the titles from them. He tells them to stop being scared. MJF then says he is so happy Adam Page won. He says he has everything to prove to hypocritical fans who think he is the best, but he is the best. He doesn’t need the contract to beat him; he will beat him easily and he will push Page back into a pit of his own despair.

Josh Alexander, Hechicero, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. Kevin Knight, Speedball Mike Bailey, Bandido, and Brody King

Don Callis joins commentary. The Bucks’ big screen entrance is filled with notes about them not being EVPs, scenes of them being beaten, and the like.

Brody and Josh lock up, and after a side headlock, Josh charges into Brody, who calls for him to keep trying. Josh starts in with chops, and when Brody back chops Josh, Josh drops to his knees in pain. Matt drops off the apron when Josh tries to tag. Hechicero and Bandido tag in. They run the ropes and Bandido gets an arm drag. They fight in the corner and Bandido gets a springboard hurricanrana.

Speedball and Knight both tag in after the other, and after Hechicero is knocked to the floor, the Bucks get into the ring. The Bucks are knocked to the floor and Jet Speed dives into them. Knight and Nick get back in the ring and the Bucks drop each member of the other team. We get a bunch of Young Buckery as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Knight has been the babyface in peril. The Bucks start an EVP Trigger but realize they can’t call it that anymore, allowing Speedball to tag in and run wild. After he takes out the Bucks, we get Hechicero and Brody, who gets a chance to run wild. Bandido gets a blind tag, but Brody still gets a cannonball on Hechicero and dives on everyone else on the other team. Bandido then dives on them as well.

Jet Speed hits dives, and then Bandido gets a backflip slam off the top with Hechicero for two, broken up by the Bucks. The Bucks hit a series of superkicks on Brody and then it’s time for everyone to get a big move on the last person in the ring. The Bucks’ team gets a series of moves on Bandido and Bandido is knocked out, and the ref calls the match.

Winners via Knockout: Josh Alexander, Hechicero, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

Adam Copeland comes to the ring in a haze of pyro smoke with something to say. The crowd sings his theme and he thanks them. He says there are a lot of questions that need answering. He did not show up to save Christian Cage. He goes over their AEW history and says Cage cost him his title match out of jealousy. He doesn’t blame the Patriarchy for what they did to Cage, and all he can hope now is that Cage is pulling his giant cranium out of his behind.

But Cope says he is back to go after FTR. He goes through his medical history and his history with FTR. He says FTR blames everyone else for their failures. FTR put him on the shelf for four months and every time he gets in the ring, it may be the last time. He says he didn’t come back to wrestle them; he came back to end FTR.

We get their music, and we get Stoke with AEW Security and they come to the ring. Stoke tells security to get into the ring to be between him and Cope. Stoke starts to berate Cope and the crowd tells him they would rather he stops talking, please. He then asks Cope about Spike, the two-by-four with nails in it, and says that AEW got three anonymous complaints about it. And if Cope gets involved with FTR, he is fired.

Stoke says FTR isn’t scared of Cope; they just need to focus on the Tag Team titles. He then tells Cope to leave FTR alone. Cope then says that he will get fired if he gets near FTR, but they didn’t say anything about Cope. The security bail and Cope spears Stoke.

Mark Briscoe says that MJF is a bitch and avoided him during their match. He is not done with MJF and MJF has invoked the violence and karma, and he will make MJF pay for his sins.

Thekla vs. Queen Aminata vs. Kris Statlander vs. Willow Nightingale – $100,000 goes to the winner

It quickly becomes Thekla and Kris in the ring and Kris gets a long stalling vertical suplex. Thekla escapes out the back of a slam and lays in kicks. Thekla gets a spear on Kris, drops Willow, and Aminata drops Thekla with a headbutt. People just blast the last person standing and eventually, all four women are down. Kris and Willow get up next to each other while Thekla and Aminata get up next to each other. Everyone is brawling and Willow gets the Doctor Bomb on Thekla and Kris pulls the ref out of the ring at two. Kris and Willow fight up the ramp. Aminata gets a neckbreaker and a double stomp on Thekla for two.

Skye Blue storms down to the ring and gets on the apron. As she distracts the ref, Julia Hart sprays mist in Aminata’s eyes. Thekla rolls Aminata up for the pin and the win.

Winner of $100,000: Thekla

Toni Storm is in a balcony box to address the crowd. She gives her "Enough of this gay banter” opening. She thanks Mercedes Mone for going All In with her. We then get a bunch of double entendres. She says Luther was injured and will need reattachment surgery. She is then interrupted by Athena with Billie Starkz, who says that soon she will be the Forever AEW Champion, and she has taken out Mina Shirakawa. Athena says Toni’s demise is here and she will cash in whenever she likes.

Storm is on another level with her promos now. Go watch it.

We then get Kip Sabian, Nick Wayne, and Mother Wayne, and they explain that they were really a Matriarchy and Mother Wayne put together the plan to take out Christian Cage. Nick says Cage was a liability, and he decided it when Cage changed the plan and tried to become World Champion. He says the question isn’t how many world championships has he won, but how many will he win. He says Cage created this monster, and now AEW will have to live with that.

Kazuchika Okada vs. The Already in the Ring: Man with No Name

Don Callis gives the introduction for Okada, who has new entrance music.

Okada wins with a dropkick and a Rainmaker.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

After the match, Okada says that Swerve Strickland screwed his friends and calls him a bitch.

Swerve, hearing his name, appears. He then tells Okada he did do that and asks what he will do about it…

Bitch.

Page is tagged in and he grounds and pounds Claudio. Yuta is tagged in and gets battered until Briscoe tags in and Yuta then gets battered again. Hobbs is tagged in and runs through Yuta. Claudio gets into the ring and Hobbs clotheslines him down.

Mox gets into the ring and then backs off and goes to the floor as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, we are in overtime. Yuta has been a punching bag through the break, and Mox attacks Hobbs to free Yuta and Hobbs drops Yuta and then… slowly he turns, step by step, inch by inch… Hobbs chases Mox to the floor where Claudio gets a chop block and Shafir blocks Hobbs’ way. Mox finally tags in and goes after Hobbs on the floor with a choke. Mox runs Hobbs into the steel steps.

The crowd reminds Mox that he tapped out and Claudio tags in and they work over Hobbs in the corner. Claudio is able to get the Giant Swing on Hobbs. The Death Riders work over Hobbs with quick tags. Hobbs finally gets a powerslam on Yuta and tags in Briscoe. Mox tags in and Briscoe works him over and then works over Claudio. Claudio is tossed to the floor and as Briscoe goes to the top, Shafir attacks Briscoe as we go to picture-in-picture again.

When we return to full screen, Mox gets a two count on Briscoe. Mox tries for an STF, but Briscoe gets to the ropes. Mox nails Page on the apron and hits a stuffed piledriver on Briscoe for two. Hobbs breaks it up and he brawls with the Death Riders on the floor. Mox and Briscoe fight on the top and Briscoe gets a missile dropkick from the top and then tags in Page. Mox tags out immediately and Page works over Yuta and Claudio. Yuta blocks a rolling elbow, but Page gets a pop-up powerbomb for two, broken up by Claudio.

Claudio launches Yuta at Page and Yuta covers for two. Yuta tries for a Doomsday Device, but Page lands on his feet and that sets off the tag team siren and everyone is fighting and diving to the floor. Mox cuts off the Buckshot, but Hobbs grabs Mox for a spinebuster. Everyone hits a finisher on the last person in the ring and Page gets a jackknife pin for the win.

Winners: Adam Page, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Mark Briscoe
