Spotlight Match: JGeorge vs Jay Lyon
Round 2 starts now! Jgeorge seems way more aggressive and focused this week. He refuses to take the L again! Lyon eats a lot of offense but a big German gets him back in the game. JGeorge dodges the lyonsault…a scissor kick gets the win! They’re at 1-1…is the rubber match next week?
Match 1: Jay.Tunis & Rain Conway (w/ “The Life Changer” Joe Ocasio) vs Eye Black Jack & Jake Gray
So Joe is a cult leader now. He was supposed to be in the match but he blindsided Rain with putting him in the contest. TRUST THE PROCESS, CONWAY! Tunis starts well but Rain is just getting DESTROYED. Ocasio pulls Rain away from a splash and begins directly coaching Conway, who just seems to have forgotten that he is supposed to be a wrestler. It’s going bad for EBJ but Gray gets the hot tag! Rain stuns him, goes for a Rainmaker??? Gray rolls him up for the three and Ocasio is Furious…but he tells his boys that it’s okay. This was a LESSON…not a loss.
Match 2: Cosmic vs Lili Ruiz
This crowd seems confused about who to cheer and boo but Ruiz challenges Cosmic to a dance-off and even gets Ref Bill in on the fun! Cosmic is not about fun, she wants to put a hurt on this girl. And she does. Lili keeps trying to go for a big fireman’s carry…but never completes it and Cosmic starches her with a package driver for the win.
Cosmic on the mic, everyone is obsessed with her. But she wants BIGGER competition. She wants…GABBY. FORZA.
Match 3: Vaughn Vertigo vs Mani Ariez
Vertigo is getting steamrolled in the opening minutes. Mani is looking great here, and the crowd is here for it, YESSSSIIIIIRRRRRRR! Vaughn sweeps the legs in the buckles, Manu takes a terrible tumble. Vertigo lays in some shots but Mani gets mad, catches a kick and start peppering this kid with heavy forearms and chops. A missile dropkick setups the finish and Mani with a vertical cutter for the win!
Miles and Morris protest Milo’s logo stick! Worcester has been VERY behind Mirra, win or lose. Milo gives Morris a lot of trouble in the early going. Wonderboy turns the tide and gets a full earful of the crowd’s “love” for the Stetson Ranch. Milo rallies back and looks like he wants to launch off the pogo stick. Danny steals it! Wonderboy posts Milo and hits an Impaler for the three. Booooo!
That said, the Ranch is NOT DONE tonight.
Match 5: Danny Miles (w/ Brian Morris) vs TJ Crawford (w/ Love Doug)
TJ’s rage lately has been at peak and Miles is getting ALL this work. Danny eats a LOT of damage….but he finally staggers Crawford, who may have burned himself out. A sleeper can’t get it done. TJ catches a spear attempt and hits a reverse showstopper! Doug and Morris have a scuffle on the apron, Danny loses focus and turns around to eat a silver bullet and an Olympic slam! TJ gets the three in a FANTASTIC match.
“NEXT WEEK! STEVEN STETSON! I WANT YOU!” screams TJ after the match.
Match 6: A-Game Joseph Alexander vs Charles Mason (Discovery Gauntlet)
You gotta win it to stay in it and Charles Mason is here to TAKE this. He doesn’t even bother with the interview, he chooses to intimidate Rich in the corner instead. A-Game is looking to retain for the 7th week in a row but…Mason brings the most fear factor of any DG competitor so far. Mason rips and tears at Alexander. He eats his shots, smiles and comes tearing right back in. He hits a sleeper body toss before flattening Agame with a lariat. “Six weeks I watched you. Let me see your A-Game”. Mason eats some wicked chops and walks right through them. Mason tries to finish Alexander with his own double stomp. Joseph with the biggest lariat we’ve seen here that flattens Mason. A pumphandle Saito suplex?!? A-game wants that flying knee strike! He blocks Mason’s fish hook and hits it! Kick out! Mason back up but he’s winded. Alexander hits a series of head kicks! We have a minute left as Mason hits a snap rolling DVD! He locks in a rear naked choke! A-Game passes out with 20 seconds left in the time limit. Charles Mason has taken charge of the Discovery Gauntlet! Fantastic DG match. Easily one of the best of this run.
Main event: Sammy Diaz vs DJ Powers
Diaz is so heated this spills RIGHT to the floor. Powers just gets pummeled in front of everyone. He should take a note from his self-tanner and start running. DJ starts getting some shots in but Sammy has WAY MORE oomph behind him. That said, the shots Powers is making to the ribs are stacking up. Sammy clutching his midsection after a spear sends him flying back. DJ tries another spear but eats the post! An Orton powerslam! Moonsault for two! His attitude hasn’t been great lately…but the crowd is VERY behind Diaz through this. DJ catches Diaz into a German. A claymore won’t stop top 5! The crowd is in Powers’ head with these Mooiiiiiiist chants. Sammy rebounds from a buckle bomb with a flying knee and they’re both downed! They battle back to their feet! DJ shoves Sammy into the ref! DJ with the low blow! He grabs a chair! Mani Ariez runs down and grabs the chair! Sammy low blows DJ right back! Michinoku driver to powers and Sammy gets the VERY slow three from a recovering ref! Fantastic main event!
Brother Greatness runs down to congratulate Sammy! Mani has a bit of a staredown with DJ before getting in the ring. BG and the crowd chants for them to shake hands! They do! A big 80’s action movie handshake!
Brother Greatness on the mic. It’s time to preach! We’ve seen hate worked through! It sure seems like we have at least a new tag team…if not the reforming of the CHURCH OF GREATNESS!!!!
